Dd 10 has had a massive verruca under her big toe for over 3 years. GP said it would go of its own accord... it hasn't gone.
A few weeks ago she said it was hurting when she walked so I have decided to wage war on it.
So far we have tried soaking, filing and covering with a plaster, then soaking, filing and covering with duct tape for more than a fortnight but it made no difference.
Next weapon... Bazuka.
After 3 days, it look absolutely hideous....

Fabulous. I had one as a teenager, I got in there with a scalpel and a pair of sharp tweezers and eventually got it all out. I swear the last, most monsterous root actually wriggled after I pulled it out.

It's filing night...

We have learnt our lesson from the last time, and just given it a light filing...

Such a good thread!

I can recommend the school verucca pen, last year DS and DH both got veruccas and the only thing that worked was the Scholl pen and regular filing.

I swear bazukka actually made DS's verucca bigger

AmongUs · 14/03/2021 15:00

That's good to hear about the Scholl pen.
This is what it looks like today after filing and a dab of tea tree oil.

devuskums · 14/03/2021 15:02

I think I will be getting the scholl pen as well. I will post up another pic tonight

My sons is coming off gradually and it’s going to leave a huge hole. New pic added.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 14/03/2021 21:29

@YesIDoLoveCrisps it's like a nipple. I wouldn't do tempted by scissors if that was on my own foot....

YesIDoLoveCrisps · 14/03/2021 21:34

I would have ripped it off myself too. He won’t let me not matter how many robux I offer selfish child

Jloco · 14/03/2021 21:42

Can I ask, do you pick the Bazuka off each night? I read that on the instructions but I can’t get it to pick off, even with putting another thin layer on.

I have one I’m trying to get rid of - I used duct tape for ages and that made a massive difference but now my foot reacts to the tape so I had to stop before it was fully gone and it’s grown again 😢

YesIDoLoveCrisps · 14/03/2021 21:43

I left it on, I just keep adding layers.

Midwife1997 · 14/03/2021 22:18

From what I can gather 'needling' is the latest evidence based treatment. Done by certain podiatrists.

Anyone remember me posting about my fungal toenail being removed without any pain relief last August?? My toenail has almost grown out now!! A picture could be supplied...

As a dc I had 7.. Weekly trips to a chiropodist.. Got sick and sat with a compass and picked them out....
Ds5 had one for around 9 months. It gave me immense pleasure dealing with it!!
I really need a life!!

@CrotchetyQuaver

I had this monster which was acquired doing aqua natal classes in 1994. lt clearly wasn't planning on going of it's own accord! I found a product called verrugon which is stronger than most other OTC salicylic acid products and it included a very good little kit. It took a hell of a long time to go, you have to keep on digging away and not give it the opportunity to grow back. I'd dig it out a bit with the point of some nail scissors and use a scholl foot sander thing to grind it down. It's completely gone now and I'm so looking forward to getting a pedicure which I've not been able to have for so many years!
Blimey @CrotchetyQuaver that thing should have had its own postcode 😱. What happened in the end did it fall out or did you have to peel it off? More pics please. I had one years ago that I treated with verrugon cream and eventually all the top skin came away leaving what looked like black roots. I put some sticking plaster directly on to it and it peeled away. I remember the smell of the rooty thing was atrocious 🤢

@PurpleRainDancer oooh what is this cream of which you speak??

Big circle chunk of skin came off today. Dh dealt with it, sorry the photo is blurry.
Think it is shrinking...(Touch wood!!)

Banana skin taped on with duct tape will do the trick, my DD had a horrible one and that sorted it.

MarieFromStTropez · 15/03/2021 20:05

OP, I don’t want to worry you, but I vaguely remember an Embarrassing Bodies episode years ago where a child had verrucas that wouldn’t go away. It turned out to be a symptom of something more serious but she did recover after treatment.

NuclearDH · 15/03/2021 20:11

The kid on embarrassing bodies had both feet riddled with them to such an extent she could barely walk. I think this is just a big verrucca.

But it seems to be out of stock everywhere Sad

CrotchetyQuaver · 15/03/2021 21:03

@PurpleRainDancer no it never was so satisfying as to come off in one big lump, it was just gradual chipping away at it, if there was a flap of loose skin then I'd cut it off and then put the electric sander file on it. It did grow back between the photos, I thought it had all gone but there must have been a little bit of root left and I had stopped checking it. Now I check it at least once a week and so far it's definitely not come back. Bring on that pedicure! I'd tried all sorts on and off over the years, bazuka was very painful, duct tape, but nothing had ever properly beaten it until that verrugon stuff. Glad there's a few of you quite impressed by it! Wink

PurpleRainDancer · 15/03/2021 22:18

@devuskums as @CrotchetyQuaver has linked you can buy Verrugon online or from a chemist. I’m embarrassed to say my verruca experience was nearly 40 years ago so don’t know if the formula is the same. I used to stick a circular cotton pad with a hole in over the Veruca then squirt the Verrugon cream into the hole put a plaster across the top of that. The pads and plasters came in a kit with the cream. After a day or so the top layer of skin would go soft and you could peel it off. It wasn’t a quick fix and probably took around a year. Hope you have speedier success.
