I am struggling. Got some Riekers but they make my toes hurt as I seem to clench them. I need wider shoes. Tried some fitflop iridescent trainers on today. They were really nice but a tiny bit big. Just want some lovely comfy flats, pref metallic.

Dia12 · 23/07/2019 23:10

I've never worn fitflops before as I must admit I always thought they were for more for function rather than style until that is I actually browsed their website and saw quite a few nice style.
I purchased the cova sandals in metallic gold for my holiday to the amalfi coast and I must admit I kicked myself for not buying fitflops sooner. Not only were they like clouds of heaven on my feet even whilst walking miles every day, super comfortable and NO blisters on my usually very sensitive feet but they looked awesome with every outfit. So much so, I barely wore any other shoes throughout my holiday....and the shoes still look amazing! LOVE!

In this insane weather I live in my Birkenstock Gizehs and my 10 Year old Havaianas, otherwise canvas trainers. I struggle with fashion sandals as often they just have the most awful flat hard soles, and I am definitely in need of something more supportive and/or soft soles.

Love these ones from Fitflop. They look very comfortable. I hadn't even thought to look at Fitflop before this thread as I still associate them with the white trainer style flip flops they first started with.

TrySinging · 23/07/2019 23:33

I've always worn Birkenstocks in the summer months, but this year I've had a pair of Lulu Fitflops which have hardly been off my feet. They're gold mirror and go with everything and were super comfy, right from the first wear. I'd love a pair of brightly coloured Allegro ballerinas.

Pascha · 24/07/2019 07:36

I wear Tom's to work through the summer. I've never found a pair of comfortable sandals and although I own some palmairas and a pair of cheap sliders, they almost never get worn.

So I stick to airy canvas or mesh Tom's which are years old and dead comfy.

InMySpareTime · 24/07/2019 07:46

I usually wear my Superga plimsolls all summer, but if I wear sandals they need to have adjustable straps (I have wide feet and narrow ankles) and no big toe separation as I hate that feeling. I need an ankle strap.
I cannot walk in flip flops, I end up with my tongue sticking out and my toes death-gripping the sole of the flip flop.

BadnessInTheFolds · 24/07/2019 08:13

My main issue with summer shoes (any shoes!) is comfort. So many women's shoes are pretty but not very nice to wear. I want shoes I can walk in got his and make the most of long evenings and beautiful countryside!

I have a couple of pairs of toe-post Lulu's that are finally giving up the ghost after a lot of tough treatment and started a job in a more formal office last year so got some Cova II which are closed toe, I always get loads of compliments on those. I love the new ones with chevrons in oyster pink www.fitflop.com/uk/en/shop/cova-chevron-suede-closed-toe-sandals-p-Q97#673
And all the snake print options, particularly tempted by superloafer of cooler days: www.fitflop.com/uk/en/shop/superloafer-shimmersnake-loafers-p-U98#001 and Banda www.fitflop.com/uk/en/shop/banda-dotted-snake-leather-toe-thongs-p-R86#698

These are my go to summer saviours - though I have been known to start wearing them in March!! www.fitflop.com/uk/en/shop/barra-leather-back-strap-sandals-p-R89#323
They come in 5 great colours but I love the rose gold - they go with everything and are so comfy, without being frumpy.

thanksamillion · 24/07/2019 08:54

I need arch support so I'm having to invest in good quality sandals (and shoes) rather than cheap-but-look-pretty that I've had in the past. I've had fit flops recommended but never really looked at them properly. I quite like this pair though www.fitflop.com/uk/en/shop/tiera-back-strap-sandals-p-V08#001

MrsTumbletap · 24/07/2019 09:01

I love the sparkly sandal type shoes in summer and mostly get them from Sainsbury's or Tesco. I usually treat myself to a new pair each year.

The Dune ones are lovely but usually about £50.

MakeTeaNotWar · 24/07/2019 09:53

I love wearing flipflops around the house and in the garden but don't like to walk in them for very long - for that I wear Toms or Adidas Stan Smiths, both really comfy and look great.

I really fancy a pair of Dune Loup sandals, a knock off of Hermes Oran

ShellsandSand · 24/07/2019 09:55

I normally buy Birkenstocks because the foot beds are heavenly but I'm very tempted to try the leather 'Berra' from FitFlop in Dark Brown. They look like they will go with all sorts of outfits.

ShellsandSand · 24/07/2019 09:56

'Barra' even Grin

Theimpossiblegirl · 24/07/2019 10:31

I like my sandals with a bit of sparkle or in a metallic shade. The fitflop Barra look lovely.

ShowerOfShite · 24/07/2019 11:48

I'm getting loads of wear out of my black Havianas this summer.
Most high street sandals are just too thin soled for me, I need some cushioning.
I love espadrilles too. Have some lovely snakeskin ones from Sainsbury that are unfortunately on their way out.
Would love a pair of Fitflop Allegro in silver.

voyager50 · 24/07/2019 12:02

Simple, flat summer sandals with straps - I have just bought new pairs - one black, one white and they go with everything.

sweetiepie1979 · 24/07/2019 12:21

Toms and white fit flops are my summer shoes love both though my white fit flops have discoloured a bit so I wouldn't repurchase in that colour also the base of them are a bit of a old granny brown colour which I hate but they are comfy and they are expensive so I can't replace them.

Asuwere · 24/07/2019 12:26

I wear toe post sandals from April/may till September. I like them to be a bit higher like these, hate completely flat ones. I tend to get silver or white ones so they go with everything and I wear them till they're worn out :)

shumway · 24/07/2019 12:29

I like a slider.

PopWentTheWeasel · 24/07/2019 12:31

In the summer I wear Birkenstocks and Slazenger mary jane style cloth shoes. I have narrow feet and a professional job where I can be on my feet a lot and possibly moving heavy items so I have to balance comfort, safety and looking professional whilst keeping the sandals strapped to my feet. Many summer sandals can't manage all these.

LIZS · 24/07/2019 12:37

I've had several pairs of toepost fitflops including sparkly and plain cream lulus. However would fancy either stripknit urban for sightseeing or allegro/lena for a smarter look or in-between weather. Tbh I live in my ff slippers all year round and have a new pair every other year!

LIZS · 24/07/2019 12:41

And the stripknit urban would replace beaten up Converse dainty which no longer cushion the foot.

Sooverthemill · 24/07/2019 13:42

Birkenstock Sydney or Arizona are an essential. Flopz flip flops because they are so comfy and massage the soles of my feet and a pair of scrappy leather flat sandals. I also like Penelope Chilvers espadrilles which aren't high but go with dresses really well. I tend to keep sandals for years - only threw out a pair of hispanitas this morning that I've had 13 years but really aren't fit to be worn! For a holiday I'd take Birkenstock's, flip flops and trainers

Cismyfatarse1 · 24/07/2019 14:01

I live in 2 different styles of FitFlops - the original fit flops with a toe post and some white very lightweight F Sporty shoes.

I would love new versions of these. My toe post ones have lasted 10 years and are brilliant even for walking quite long distances. The white ones are good for walking and cycling.

growlingbear · 24/07/2019 15:21

My taste in summer shoes is very 1970s. For going out I love a cork or rope wedge with tan leather upper.

For milling around the house and local errands I wear leather slides - I have a few pairs - flats and heels.

For good long walks on hot days I wear low cut trainers or Sketchers.

I just bought some platform black suede sandals with cushioned soles for work. They are beautifully springy but smart enough for the office.
