The team behind the new Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson and Jacob Tremblay movie, Wonder, would love to know what Mumsnetters think about the trailer for the film - which opens on 1 December.

PLUS...: If you were lucky enough to be able to attend one of the free screenings (held to celebrate World Kindness Day on November 13th at 300 cinemas across the UK) then please share your movie review below! What did you think of the film? Would you recommend it?

Here's the synopsis: “starring Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson and Jacob Tremblay and based on the New York Times bestseller, WONDER tells the story of August Pullman. Born with facial differences that, up until now, have prevented him from going to a mainstream school, Auggie becomes the most unlikely of heroes when he enters the local fifth grade. As his family, his new classmates, and the larger community all struggle to find their compassion and acceptance, Auggie's extraordinary journey will unite them all and prove you can't blend in when you were born to stand out.”

Watch the trailer here:

~ What did you think?
~ Have you read the book (it’s based on the book by R.J. Palacio)?
~ What looks good about the film?
~ Do you think you’ll go and see it?

Add your review of the trailer (or film if you have seen it) to this thread and you will be entered into a prize draw where one winner will get a £300 voucher for the store of choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck

Myself and my 9 year old both loved the book, and are really looking forward to the film. We are hoping the film portrays Auggie's thoughts and feelings as well as the book does. The film looks interesting and it would be great to get free tickets, but we will probably watch it if we have to pay too.

The trailer doesn't look that good, quite boring. I haven't read the biok, the film looks to be based on a true story but not my cup of tea for films so will not go and see it.

kayleigh39 · 16/11/2017 14:44

What did you think? I think this film is going to change a lot of peoples perceptions on what is 'normal'. Great cast and a great film.
Have you read the book (it’s based on the book by R.J. Palacio)? No.
What looks good about the film? I love how big named actors are bringing into p[ peoples homes what its like to be different.
Do you think you’ll go and see it? Certainly!

cheekychicken24 · 16/11/2017 14:54

Love the trailer. Really made me smile, & made me want to see the film.

I've not read the book, although I'd like to now, having seen this trailer.

Wouldn't have put Julia Roberts & Owen Wilson together as a couple, but it looks as though it works.

Looks like a proper heartwarming film - not remotely true to life, but then you don't always want gritty real life films, sometimes you just want something to make you smile.

Yes, I'm sure we'll go and see the film.

CopperPan · 16/11/2017 15:33

~ What did you think?
It looks like a feelgood movie.
~ Have you read the book (it’s based on the book by R.J. Palacio)?
No but I have read reviews of it.
~ What looks good about the film?
Great storyline and characters. I love Julia Roberts as well.
~ Do you think you’ll go and see it?
Yes, definitely.

hmmmmm · 16/11/2017 15:43

I've read the book and loved it. I couldn't put it down.

The trailer has made me want to see the film. Unfortunately I was away for the free screening. It was available at my cinema too.

finleypop · 16/11/2017 15:54

It looks great & I look forward to watching with my son

devito92 · 16/11/2017 16:00

I would take my son to watch to see how to react to children with disabilites

mollymoo818 · 16/11/2017 16:43

I haven't read the book but I read an article on the film a short while ago and thought it sounded interesting and the trailer really captured my attention. At first I thought it was going to be a weepy but by the end of the trailer I felt it was going to be more uplifting and it really appealed to me and I think it is definitely something that I would want to go and see at the cinema.
I love Julia Roberts so that is already a big plus for me but I saw Jacob Trembly is Room and he blew me away with his performance in that so he is another reason to see the film as I have never been so impressed with an actor so young before.

Ikea1234 · 16/11/2017 16:47

Having read R J Palacio's book, I was intrigued to watch the trailer when I first saw it. While it appears to stay true to the book, I was surprised by the casting of Owen Wilson and Julia Roberts - I wouldn't have picked those two particular stars to play Auggue's parents. However, we are all looking forward to seeing the movie in a couple of weeks when it's released, though we're also tempted to keep it as a school holiday outing treat over Christmas.

badgermum · 16/11/2017 16:58

I think the trailer promotes the film as a Heartwarming and uplifting movie, With great actors/actresses , I havent seen it yet but am planning on going with my teenage daughter next weekend

cassey1 · 16/11/2017 17:04

What did you think- I thought it looked really good.

Have you read the book- No, have not heard of it before.

What looks good about the film- I think it will be a tear jerker, but will also be a feel good positive film with a great cast starring in it.

Do you think you will go and see it- Yes, definitely after seeing the trailer.

Wishingandwaiting · 16/11/2017 17:10

The acting

IonaAilidh11 · 16/11/2017 17:49

great trailer film looks fun

CharleyYpres · 16/11/2017 17:52

The trailer looks really good, really inspiring and thought provoking.
I haven't read the book but will most likely purchase it as the plot sounds great.
Aside from the cast it is really refreshing to see a film that focuses on children's hardships in an adult world. I will definitely go to see it.

Lauzipop1 · 16/11/2017 18:34

The trailer looks amazing. It really makes me want to go and see it.
I haven't read the book but my DD who doesn't read has and all she did was rave about how brilliant it was.
I love the whole message of embracing diversity that encompasses the movie/book.
I would love to go see this film with DD.

jandoc · 16/11/2017 18:46

I haven't watched it yet but it looks good

ashde · 16/11/2017 19:28

I found it emotional watching the trailer and wanted to watch the film.
I haven't read the book but will put it on my xmas list
The film looks to have lots of rollercoaster moments.
I hope to see the film soon with my daughter, looking forward to it.

Chucklecheeksagain · 16/11/2017 21:05

The trailer didn't do the film justice. Me, my DD (11) and DS (6) loved the film. Brilliantly cast and had us all laughing and crying.

Me and DD have read the book and we were both worried that it wouldn't do it justice but both agreed they did.

My DS said it was like having a big hug as he felt all warm after watching the film. Three days later we are still talking about it and I'm aware both of the kids have been talking about it with their friends

pennwood · 16/11/2017 21:07

The trailer is appealing.
I have not read the book (but would like to.)
The film looks as if it carries a message of hope & full of emotion so would be a film to see as a family.
I will try to get to see the film but would certainly watch it when it comes online.

sealight123 · 16/11/2017 21:10

~ What did you think?
It looks like the sort of feel-good uplifting film that makes you cry a lot....personally...not for me

~ Have you read the book (it’s based on the book by R.J. Palacio)?
Nope

~ What looks good about the film?
I'm not sure. As I said, its not really the sort of film genre I am in to.

~ Do you think you’ll go and see it?
It's not really my sort of film. I think I might rent it went its released from home viewing

gemsi · 16/11/2017 21:54

I love films that could be so similar to real life and this looks like an interesting and I sense, emotional film and I am interested in seeing how it is played out. It does look like a film I'd like to watch though!

svalentine60 · 16/11/2017 22:09

I have seen the trailer but it's not for me. I'm not a Julia Roberts fan anyway but i didn't enjoy the book either so won't be seeing the movie.
