The team behind the new Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson and Jacob Tremblay movie, Wonder, would love to know what Mumsnetters think about the trailer for the film - which opens on 1 December.

PLUS...: If you were lucky enough to be able to attend one of the free screenings (held to celebrate World Kindness Day on November 13th at 300 cinemas across the UK) then please share your movie review below! What did you think of the film? Would you recommend it?

Here's the synopsis: “starring Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson and Jacob Tremblay and based on the New York Times bestseller, WONDER tells the story of August Pullman. Born with facial differences that, up until now, have prevented him from going to a mainstream school, Auggie becomes the most unlikely of heroes when he enters the local fifth grade. As his family, his new classmates, and the larger community all struggle to find their compassion and acceptance, Auggie's extraordinary journey will unite them all and prove you can't blend in when you were born to stand out.”

Watch the trailer here:

~ Have you read the book (it’s based on the book by R.J. Palacio)?
~ What looks good about the film?

This book is read by all year 7s at my daughter's school. The book has a powerful and essential message. I have seen the trailer in the cinema and even those few minutes brought a taer to my eyes. I will certainly see the film with my daughter and we will discuss the message after the film over milkshakes!

What did you think?

It looks good. Its dealing with a very difficult subject. the relationships amongst children at a young age and the personal and very human battle the main character is overcoming.

Have you read the book (it’s based on the book by R.J. Palacio)?
No

What looks good about the film?

Approach to a very difficult subject. though the american environment compared to others i.e uk is a different lens.

Its a good trailer, I'm sure people who like this sort of film will see that and want to watch it. It isn't my kind of thing. I really like Owen Wilson as an actor, but more in comedy roles like the Wes Anderson films. I'm not really interested in watching human interest weepies...too much of that in real life!

I've not read the book - looks like a very emotional film - usually only watch cheerful films

Awww. The trailer brought a tear to my eye and I'd love to see the film. It looks like it's got a positive message for children and adults. I've not read the book, but will look into doing that.

I love the trailer and I will definitely try and catch the film, but I know I'll have to take some tissues! I might ask for the book for Christmas. There were tickets on offer, but I couldn't make the time. I love feel good films, it looks so uplifting.

What did you think?
The sort of film everyone should see although the kind I find quite difficult to watch and will probably be in floods throughout.

Have you read the book (it’s based on the book by R.J. Palacio)?
No, never heard of it or heard of the film either until just now.

What looks good about the film?
It look well put together- cast, directed, etc. It looks like a feel good story with a really important message even if there's a lot of tears along the way.

Do you think you’ll go and see it?
I'm not a big cinema person due to being so busy. As a family we have lots of movie nights in and have all the Sky movie channels which we get a lot out of, so I'd probably wait until it filtered down to Sky and then gather all the family and a big bowl of popcorn (plus tissues of course).

I’ve now seen the film and would say that there is a lot more to it than the trailer suggests. Obviously August is the chief character and the main story line focuses on his initial year joining a school but it also shows a lot of relationships and the film is split into sections focusing on various key characters. There are some critical reviews out there (notably in the Guardian) and I haven’t read the book so obviously can’t compare both but I think it deals well with the issues of bullying and navigating friendships with one another. There were a number of teenagers in the screening I was at and over-hearing their conversations they really related to the film.

What did you think?

Call me jaded, and I am, but it looks like a Hollywood sanitisation of the real struggles that this family must have gone through.

I am sure I would feel empathy, cry in all the right places, and feel I had left seeing an 'Important Film'. But it does seem like this movie has been formulated to evoke emotions and probably as an award generator too.

Have you read the book (it’s based on the book by R.J. Palacio)?

No

What looks good about the film?

I think it will be sweet, sad at points, and sentimental.

Do you think you’ll go and see it?

Not in the theatre. Perhaps on demand.

What did I think - about time Hollywood tackled some meaty subjects. Still didn't stop me getting weepy.

Have I read the book - No. But have read one on the basis of the trailer very similiar about a child accepting you he is and others having to do the same.

What looks good about the film - well you just know the rollercoaster ride ahead, but at the same time, differences are always perceived as divisions, when they should infact in this day and age be celebrated and enjoyed. After all, can you explain how normal you are in 5 words? Yes, well then try 5000 words and I bet you sound weird to me. As for me, I already weird, just not like you weird.
