I won't be posting about dd on here or the teen board(will still keep an eye out for any where I can advise though) this whole Daily Mail thing has made me feel very unsafe. some of the issues I would be talking about soon will make me very Identifiable, so I will stick to TTR and SKINUK where it is safer.

But they haven't. They have always been free to anyone to use.

2shoes · 16/08/2009 19:10

not really, we have always known people will use our posts, normally just to back up an arguement on another thread, ok we didn't know they would be lifted and used in anewspaper, but this is the WWW

2shoes,can i join your smoking room ?

LilyOfTheMountain · 16/08/2009 20:09

mummy just email on the addy [email protected] and you'll get an invite

LilyOfTheMountain · 16/08/2009 20:36

The idea I gave on the thread discussing private rooms is that they have a thread with a very short, perhaps even 2 day lifespan where we can post sensitive matters. That way, even if Journo gets in quick and publishes, anyone doing a search will find a blank page.

If it was SN related or whatever we coulod just link a post in SN saying emergency thread here to that area.

Know the idea will be slated natch, but I thought was a good one

2shoes · 16/08/2009 20:59

but then you would hav eto post about sn on the main board......yikes

OP posts:
LilyOfTheMountain · 16/08/2009 21:11

Well yes, bt only in very specific instances and ven then only for a day or two

Otherwise its just accept it isn't it? Hate idea of private rooms, and how would people know that we had any real strength in SN if its all locked away?

NobodynearaYurtreadstheDM · 16/08/2009 21:16

Can I invite myself along as well
I really dont think I want to be on MN atm - or maybe not at all

Its a hard habbit to break after almost 5 years bit like smoking really

thederkinsdame · 16/08/2009 22:02

I have mailed to join too, if I may. (to the fruit related e-mail address rather than shadow tho!)

thederkinsdame · 16/08/2009 22:28

SO they won't delete anyone's msgs other than the journo? It strikes me that that they can't do it for one and not someone else. Riven has just as much right to her identity being protected, if not more. They should have the same rule for all, and tbh I am flabbergasted that they are protecting the privacy of someone who has not afforded other mumsnetters the same courtesy.

saintlydamemrsturnip · 16/08/2009 22:37

She is not a moldie.

Sorry to spoilt the fun.

NobodynearaYurtreadstheDM · 16/08/2009 22:37

Oh pants - I have just announced my MN departure on another thread and now I have been drawn into this one!

I was guessing that the poster who we are not allowed to mention has a posting name beginning with X - have I got that wrong, is it in fact M??????

Do enlighten me!

That was her old name Maryz - more recent name is different

2shoes · 16/08/2009 22:40

saintlydamemrsturnip ??

OP posts:
saintlydamemrsturnip · 16/08/2009 22:41

She is not a moldie.

As seems to have been fabricated on this thread. (Along with a whole lot of other pure speculation).

2shoes · 16/08/2009 22:43

I assuemd it was true as she was getting special treatment, hardly needs a dig though...

OP posts:
saintlydamemrsturnip · 16/08/2009 22:45

Erm i think the dig was at me ('certain people').

And I hardly think MNHQ would be dishing out special treatment because someone was a moldie.

Anyway she's not getting special treatment. If people were linking your poster name to your real life name they would delete for you too. As Justine said.

NobodynearaYurtreadstheDM · 16/08/2009 22:46

Give me a clue do 2shoes - just the first letter and I wont lie awake wondering

jabberwocky · 16/08/2009 22:47

oops, guess that was my fabrication...

I did think it was true as she was quite moldie-ish and flounced at around that time iirc.

Doesn't really matter in the end though. The article series has upset many posters and it could have been handled/written in a much better way.

2shoes · 16/08/2009 22:47

sorry, I always assumed soemone who broke the rule like she did would be banned. that is what I mean. she seems to be getting a level of protection not afforded to the people whose story she used.

OP posts:
jabberwocky · 16/08/2009 22:50

well said
