I won't be posting about dd on here or the teen board(will still keep an eye out for any where I can advise though) this whole Daily Mail thing has made me feel very unsafe. some of the issues I would be talking about soon will make me very Identifiable, so I will stick to TTR and SKINUK where it is safer.

Well, apart from greensleeves starting to get abusive... it appears that any reference to the MN posts being published in full in the DM have been removed - the threads are still there but the posts are all blanked out.

Greensleeves - I will type whatever I want until i am censored I do not take orders from you so .......(FO)

abusive

Really?

I retract the word "shit"

"stop this "big mother" nonsense, it's NOT helpful"

Is that better for you?

Or is it the fact of my disagreeing with you that qualifies as abuse?

seems ironic somehow...

WetAugust · 14/08/2009 19:15

I am not a worthy type and I don't hate the Daily Mail, in fact i actually buy it on a Saturday when I've read the Telegraph - so don't try to tar me with that brush. I do however hate censorship.

Greensleeves · 14/08/2009 19:17

I'm not tarring you with any brush, I am not especially interseted in you - I don't know you on here or elsewhere and you have never crossed my mind. Nor are you likely to at any future time

but in terms of responding to "what's been happening" - in general terms - I too will post whatever I like. Without telling people to FO

Goblinchild · 14/08/2009 19:26

So we're not supposed to say that the journalist called herself Aloha when she posted here?
I wonder why not.
Hi WA, wherever we go, trouble arises and bites us in the arse.
I've decided to create a new fantasy life so that none will recognise me in real life. I'm now married to a squaddie called Egbert who likes chip butties and S&M on a Thursday.

WetAugust · 14/08/2009 19:32

PMSL @ CG. You already know my alter-ego, Bert the hairy-arsed builder who inhabits the Dark Side

quite, goblinchild, i thought that was curious too.

I am assuming that was the issue - can't think why else I would have been deleted (a first! yay! I have arrived )

r3dh3d · 14/08/2009 19:42

OK, so I guess MNHQ are thinking that if they may have to get legal on a DM journo's arse, it's best to do so without giving them grounds for counterclaim?

It's beyond me, really. :sigh: But will miss you all horribly if you all bugger off.

Goblinchild · 14/08/2009 19:43

Well, Bert, I know how you react to being scolded like a naughty little boy by someone with their bossy hat on.

I posted on the first thread, and when I click the 'You're on' choice, none of the posts seem to have been deleted or edited. Winehouse is still on there, naming and shaming idlecow DM cut and paster.

Goblinchild · 14/08/2009 19:47

Riven, the only people who will understand how that feels are some of the posters here in sn. The rest just won't understand why that's a problem.
Bugger bugger bugger.

WetAugust · 14/08/2009 19:53

I still reckon MN colluded with lazy [twat] cow journo. Gets MN a wider audience - gets DM some column inches at near to nil cost.

Very poor behaviou though from MN - very [fuck - arse- disappointed that they could expolit their posters in such a bare-faced way.

She didn't even [fucking] precis the posts - kust cut and paste. - breathtaking [arse arse] arrogance.

Getting used to this new swear-wordy way of posting now - thanks Riven

lingle · 14/08/2009 20:11

Has mumset set out its position on any other thread?

Greensleeves · 14/08/2009 20:31

Um, I'm still here or hereabouts Goblinchild

I do see the worry people have about anonymity (I think I said so in my earlier post)

but I don't think being nasty about MNHQ s going to help matters

and neither is sinking your teeth into posters who disagree with you and calling them "abusive"

and I do have a child with SN - does that entitle me to speak here? Or do I need an attitude problem and a big chip on my shoulder as well?

Greensleeves · 14/08/2009 20:32

I find it very upsetting that 2shoes/Riven/anyone else feels they can't now post about their dc and that a lifeline has been taken away though. Genuinely.

I'm sure MNHQ aren't unconcerned about it either.

Yurtgirl · 14/08/2009 20:39

That the point for me really Greenie - I can understand why many MN arent bothered by the whole Daily Mail issue, if you are a typical family, typical this and that, then you cant easily be identified

But many families with SEN or some other aspect of their family that isnt typical/mainstream makes them easy to identify imho

And that isnt on frankly

Yurtgirl · 14/08/2009 20:42

Goblin - I honestly dont think its those of us with SN kids who feel this way, its any of us whose lifestyle or family is in some way easy to identify - or those of us who are escaping abusive partners/toxic parents or stalker friends! All sorts of people could be affected by this

5inthebed · 14/08/2009 20:42

Very true Yurt, there can't be that many ginger haired autistic boys who run around shouting "boobies" continuously

I do hope this all dies down and that MN makeit so the SN boards can't be used in the DM.

Yurtgirl · 14/08/2009 20:48

5inthebed - I am being slow! Are you disagreeing with me? (Honest Question btw)
There are loads of us here who are easy to identify - it really isnt just those of us with SEN kids

r3dh3d · 14/08/2009 20:50

Agree. It's not because of the SN aspect - or not wholly because of that. The SN aspect means we are more reliant on MN than other posters, and more likely to post things that are liable to be misunderstood in norm-land. But the killer is that in order to post anything meaningful on this section we are by definition identifying ourselves. DD1 has a combination of conditions that only 1 in 15 billion kids have. There have been less than 8 billion people alive in the entire history of the planet. So if anyone thinks they recognise her from the pages of the DM, they can easily check up from my post history on here.

feelingbetter · 14/08/2009 20:57

I agree.
Some people pour out their heart & soul on all sections of MN, sometimes for themselves, often to help others.

I've made my profile private now, but just a search by my user name would give a pretty detailed account of the last year of our family life. I gave those details willingly because I felt safe here.

Yes someone in RL may have recognised me, but I didn't think for a minute that this current situation would ever arise
