@s39 I think staff do work at weekends and bank holidays, but the phone lines are switched off so no incoming calls to disturb them. I seem to remember my DS first got his DLA awarded on a Bank Holiday Monday!

I never knew this , was surprised to see people being awarded on a yesterday & today

i rang on Friday for the first time and the last I spoke to said my claim is open I asked what this meant and she said a decision hasn’t been made yet, I still don’t quite understand “claim is open” kind of sounds like someone’s looking at it maybe ?

Holz691 · 25/05/2025 13:26

Thank you I phoned up Wednesday for the first time and they said no update too

@Holz691Did u send in much evidence with ur claim

Holz691 · 25/05/2025 14:27

Yeah got a text today and no not a lot at all just school evidence and that’s he’s had his first testing for adhd but that’s all so nothing really just told them how challenging he is

I hope mines enough, he’s not got a diagnosis yet still on waiting list, got a school report of all difficulties, a 9 page statement from myself & his speech and language report from when he was 5/6
doubting it ain’t enough now Sad

Holz691 · 25/05/2025 15:58

My son is still waiting for diagnosis too I’m sure you will be fine I was worried I didn’t send enough as he hasn’t got a ehcp as of yet but the school are looking down that route he’s only 8 and has been so close too being kicked out for his anger issues towards staff and other children

Iwanttobreakfree2 · 25/05/2025 16:34

My DS's current DLA award is due to expire on 31st May. I sent off the completed paperwork to the DWP on 31st January and they received it on 3rd February. I called on Thursday and they hadn't yet made a decision. Anyone else waiting for a renewal decision with their child's DLA due to expire shortly?

That makes me feel so much better my sons 8 on 3/6
have u been on waiting list long I’ve been waiting 3 years, hopefully what I’ve sent is enough and he will get what he deserves , the school report that’s been done is really good and my 9 page statements broken down into sections where he struggles his meltdowns his no sence of danger, impulsivity etc
people have been hearing quite quick for new claims so hopefully I’ll hear in June

Holz691 · 25/05/2025 21:17

Yeah we only started the process December 30th was his first ever appointment the school didn’t give much evidence they was rubbish tbh didn’t say half the stuff he has done they didn’t even want too write anything tbh so just grateful he was accepted

I’m 21weeks into an MR, the wait is awful and the financial struggle is even worse! I know people milking the system, know exactly what to write on the forms to get every benefit going and it’s so disheartening when I’m bending over backwards, working every hour under the sun so I can make adaptions to my home and buy my son the wheelchair he desperately needs. He has been referred to wheelchair services but apparently the waiting list is huge, we’ve been waiting since February. Just feeling so low and fed up right now, just feel like I’m drowning! Trying my best and getting absolutely nowhere and these ridiculous waiting times don’t help 😢

i feel you! we’re 25+3 into a coc now, our wheelchair services took 5 months from initial referral to be seen, luckily we still had a pram at that point x

It’s awful, it’s bad enough everything we need to go through with our little ones, the constant fight to get the things they need and deserve, the mental impact of having a child with a disability/coming to terms with their disability/diagnoses but then the mental impact of waiting and having to scrimp and save to provide for our children whilst being told by someone with no medical background that our children aren’t entitled while we struggle day in and day out! I really don’t think i will go to tribunal if my little one is denied again, it’s not worth the stress

I am 22+5 into a coc and have been diagnosed with a genetic condition last week. My children will have to be tested as it can cause a multitude of problems. My DD who I am doing a COC for is showing signs do I need to inform them to add to my form?

Coc Scan Date 22/11... rung last thursday and said was in holding que (whatever that means) So anxious waiting to hear, Daughter already receives high rate care, just applied to have the mobility added as was sent forms. when we originally applied she was only 3 and didn't have her diagnosis yet or her ehcp so didn't expect any mobility. But she's now diagnosed with sleep disorder, significant speech delay and Autism with substantial needs and awaiting an adhd assessment. she's now got her Ehcp which also shows she's starting a special school in September. So i sent all that off, i know that its not about the diagnosis but I'm hoping the Autism with substantial needs diagnosis should give an indication. praying she gets some form of mobility as then we can get either a adapted car for her or a really decent stroller as its just far to dangerous to move around by foot anywhere :( So Stressful waiting.

i feel you! we’re coc 29/11, its a horrible wait:( we receive MRC currently since he was 8 months old but he’s 100% entitled to higher on both, i’m really doubting myself now even though i know i conveyed his needs as best as i could x
