Just had my sons renewal decision letter this is my first one he's been awarded HRC and HRM but his old claim doesn't end until 28/6/25 and on his old claim it's just HRM so does the care part get back dated or does it start from date old claim ends decision was fast only 8 weeks from sending forms back

Congratulations on your renewal, I never knew you could only get HRM without the care rate, the HRC will start from the date you receive your decision so there may be a one off payment between now and when your next payment is due.

Thankyou, yes I've always thought it was odd as he did need extra care as he is unable to walk he is now 5 and has been no change other than his school being on board with his autism diagnosis and writing a letter

CyanDeer · 08/05/2025 18:54

New claim, scan date 3rd January and had a back payment in my account today ☺️ x

Surely a child that can’t walk would have many care needs, it doesn’t make sense them not giving him care before now, atleast you have the right award now, how long did they do the award for? I’m just wondering if they make the award longer at first renewal?

Both of them are 2 years which I thought would of been longer as his issues are not going to get better just worse with age but my other son is 5, autistic and his award is until 2031 and with my other son having autism and other disabilities but I guess it's different decision makers they decide what they think

I rang today cus it’s been 20 weeks since I rang up and asked for the form. Got the rudest man on the phone, said it’s a 25 week wait from when they recieved the form back and wouldn’t even check my claim for me, said they’re only dealing with terminally ill children’s claims and everyone else needs to wait 25 weeks so to count 25 weeks from the date they recieve it and not call back till then :(

I got the text on 28th April, money in a few days later but still no letter!! Although haven't had any post all week! Just want to know how long her award is for. Based on the money, I'm assuming it has to be hrc but want to get the ball rolling with uc! And statement of reason on no mobility although she's only 3 so know it's hard to get hrm

Hey I received my backpayment today sd was 6/1/2025 rang them I'm getting medium care rate starting from 9/12/24 to the 8/12/2026 I'm a little disappointed no mobility but he's only 3 and didn't have lots of evidence as still waiting for reports and asd assessment only diginoses he has is his rare chromosome duplication so I'm just going to gather everything I can for renewal. Wishing you all the best of luck and hope you all get ehat your children deserve and you get your awards quicker 😊 ❤️

Anyone only been awarded care rate? My SD 8th Jan - had backpay today so called for rates and she's been awarded MRC no mobility which I thought was odd, don't really want to do MR as I don't want to lose MRC.

PattyODawes · 09/05/2025 10:44

Do people ever get txt messages to say it’s been decided?

I only get MRC for my daughter but she was 3 at the time so I couldn’t get HRM due to lack of evidence and was to young for LRM, I’m currently doing a COC because a lot has changed in a year and now have all the evidence to get HRC and HRM. My friends child also only gets MRC for her 6 year old, she did a MR for mobility because he does have mobility needs but was declined. If you think you your child should be entitled to mobility then you can do a MR ( around 25 weeks wait ) although I would only do it if you have evidence to support it.

They will sometimes say they will send you a text, but most of the time they don’t, it really is the luck of the draw if you get a text or not.

Thank you, I may do a COC as Jan she was diagnosed with a condition that does affect her mobility to an extent and do have evidence to support that now, I don't really want to do an MR and wait that long just for LRM as she definitely wouldn't be entitled to HRM. I will await the letter and see what it says x

Is she over 5? Because LRM can only be given once they are 5+. COC and MR wait times are the same wait time around 25 weeks.

Yeah she was 5 in October and her health condition has changed which is why I'm thinking COC like she's got actually diagnosis and a care plan now which affects both care and mobility but I obviously don't know what I'm doing and don't want to lose what we have although I no we wouldn't. Do you no if I do an MR will the payment continue or does it stop until a decision is made?

Anniewillow · 09/05/2025 11:45

I got a back payment today, they won’t tell me what it is over the phone. It’s £2246.70 and my scan date was 10/1. Can anyone work it out please?

Likely HRC and LRM?

It sounds like you have a strong case to get LRM, they will continue your payments until a new decision is made, I worry about them declining my daughter COC and then needing to pay money back but I think it’s just a worry because her needs are way higher than when I first applied. On the coc form you can just tick for them just to look at the mobility side of the claim
