DLA WAIT TIMES THREAD 61

1000 replies

macap · 30/12/2024 17:21

Hey! Thought I'd make a new thread as previous one very close to being full!

These threads have been a big help whilst waiting for the outcome of our application. Sure they help everyone else too! It's stressful!

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.

New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?

Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.

Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.

If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)

Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.

If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

DLA contact number is 0800 121 4600

It is! This is what I said to myself when my son got declined originally, my 3rd time challenging for HRM so did the MR and he was awarded! Don’t give up! You got this! With any luck they’ll over turn before tribunal!

Thank you. Xx

Kc1999x · 08/01/2025 23:32

Yes that was the worst thing about waiting. Seeing those later dates killed me🤦🏽‍♀️

Doesn’t looo like they’ve got a grip on it still 😐

JW070116 · 08/01/2025 17:23

I'm exhausted between dla, uc and the school and the kids I feel like I'm constantly chasing someone 😪

A lot of us can relate to that. It feels like an endless battle from people that should be supporting wherever they can. I’ve got a meeting with my son’s school next week, they asked if I still wanted to proceed with an early annual review due to him not progressing, absolutely! We find the energy to battle on. Hang in there x

SKB12 · 09/01/2025 00:22

@SENmama1 people are free to call up however many times they wish to. If you’ve been reading the forum as you say you have, then you will also be aware that many of us have letter that state much shorter timeframes than the 20/25 week (11 weeks in our case). Call handlers do not make decisions therefore calling them does not delay decision making. We have a query with our scan date ie DLA registering it on the wrong date on their system so there are various reasons as to why people call. Good for you for waiting the full 25 weeks, that’s on you, everyone else can call as often as they like.

I didn’t get a text, but I received a payment in my bank today so called up, was told we were awarded on the 3rd.

Congratulations on your award

Myboy2017 · 08/01/2025 23:34

I kind of expected it, HRM it very hard to get. However I know he’s entitled to it. Thank you xx

I have seen on here DLA change their minds when informed the claimant is taking it to tribunal. Hopefully that’ll be the case for you too. In any event fight for what you know is right and good luck

SKB12 · 09/01/2025 00:27

Kc1999x · 08/01/2025 11:48

But as they was entitled to them amounts during those assessment periods and had not received it, it will be backdated, unless money owed to them they can make deductions from the back pay otherwise entitled to the full amount of the disability element and carers element. It will all be backdated

Did you ask UC regarding HRM? I haven’t had so much on here with one of my other sons 😐

anyone been awarded mr from August? 20/08 is mine

Yes, ours was 06/08 and I know of a 22/08 that was also awarded

SKB12 · 09/01/2025 00:36

So from trying to catch up with posts, it would appear their first full week back isn’t going great with phone lines being down. I hope lines are working as normal tomorrow and there’s good news for you. The wait is awful and we can only hope that they really work towards bringing the wait times down 🤞

That’s disappointing. MR S/D 21/08. Nothing yet but the generic letter back in October saying they’re looking at it again.

Seems like a long way off for a decision at the moment. But sending good luck to all

scan date 4/10
i have also received 2 letters-I’ve never done this before so all very new too the process!

Haylz94 · 09/01/2025 08:06

Woo glad you were awarded, such a relief to know isn't it! You can ring up and ask for rates if you need to

StaceSplatt · 09/01/2025 09:55

when awarded DLA and you tell UC is it best just asking for the disability element to be added? And not the careers as that's £ for £ isn't it so wouldn't get anything backdated on that anyway, am I right in thinking this?

First week back and my daughter has been in for one day, told the head and there was the look of surprise again 🙄 UC got my income wrong in December and under paid me by 700 I've been trying to get it sorted since the 17th and someone finally passed it to the right person on the 7th 😫 then dla on top, honestly I'm about ready tp give up. I wouldn't mind if they communicated properly or told the truth when you called, i just need to know where I stand as honestly considering giving up work as it's just to much with 5 kids and being a single parent 🤦🏼‍♀️ rant over 🤣

11mum · 09/01/2025 09:57

OMG I can't believe I'm writing this called yesterday scan date 25/7 coc for adding on motability from 5 and was told not with anyone. Called this morning decision made yesterday HRC (stayed the same) added LRM and extended award to 2031. I'm so relieved as was panicking about the care rate going down because I left that part blank and ticked no change. Good luck to all those still waiting!

22/08 NC. So I decided to call as I am 20 weeks today. Although I was expecting 25 week speech. Spoke to a nice guy called Phil who checked my earlier documents had all been scanned and told me what they were and he said my DS claim is with the decision maker and shouldn’t be too long. He said I am down for a text so when I receive that assuming I do. I can press option 4 again and ask for decision info. I will take it with a pinch of salt as some people get told it’s with the DM for weeks or it is then it isn’t, but fingers crossed not much longer

SKB12 · 08/01/2025 23:05

I was 06/08 heard on 24/12. You should’ve heard by now too

Were you awarded?

Finally someone with an open mind. I agree with you. The call handlers are burnt out especially one of them sounded so drained they told me we’re still in December 😂. I understand call after call is hard

But that what they are paid for.
they are call handlers.
it’s like saying don’t go to the doctors if you are unwell as they are rushed off their feet.

Hi new here, Ive skimmed over a couple of the threads as its a lot to catch up on. Just settling in for the long haul as it seems to be taking a long time and I'd hoped it would be 15 weeks max which will be in about 5 weeks from now but looks like it will be much longer from what I'm reading.

First time applying. I originally rang for forms end of July, had early September return date. I didn't complete in time, rang and told them and then it took me another 7ish weeks after that. So forms got sent in 1st week of November, I think, can't remember the date I sent them (it was recorded delivery) but I've had two letters since then, one confirming receipt and one saying sorry for the wait. No idea if I'll get it backdated to the date I originally rang for forms. I've explained in form why I was so late returning. Guess I won't know that till the final decision is made?

Anyway just wanted to say hi and good luck to everyone who's waiting.

Oh an I'm not sure what the scan date thing is, do I have to ring them to find that out?

It’s up to the decision maker when they back date from but chances are it will be from scan date and not the date you called if they were sent back late.

your scan date will be on the 1st letter they sent you. Where it states ‘we received your application on such and such date’ that date is your scan date x
