DLA WAIT TIMES THREAD 61

1000 replies

macap · 30/12/2024 17:21

Hey! Thought I'd make a new thread as previous one very close to being full!

These threads have been a big help whilst waiting for the outcome of our application. Sure they help everyone else too! It's stressful!

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.

New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?

Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.

Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.

If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)

Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.

If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

DLA contact number is 0800 121 4600

I’m on hold now although I’m 09/08 we need to know where we stand once over 25 weeks , it seems they are just picking whichever one they want and others getting moved further down the line

Its unbelievable I had my daughter's renewal this year March sent off paperwork called week later to check received paperwork and to my shock had already been done and she stayed on hrc but she turned 5 in Sept so they then sent mobility forms out June said to have them back by 7th Aug and now been waiting since 25th July so frustrating. First told 11 weeks then 15 weeks then told 12th December call on 13th have been told with DM twice then call Monday was told that's all lies and not been allocated to anyone!!

just called and the woman I. The phone said no decision as of yet and they are advising upto 25weeks wait. I explained I’m in financial hardship as my son is about to start a specialist provison and need to get new uniforms and arrange travel etc. I only work part time and have 3 other children and school runs! the lady then said it shouldn’t be too long a wait for us now! 🤞🏻🤞🏻
Im literally so anxious about it now it’s all I can think about! lol.
how long did everyone wait after stating they are in financial hardship?

1 day

Hi,
I've just had one letter to say they were still considering our application and not to do anything. My son has asd/adhd, we sent his diagnostic report only because we're in the process of applying for an ehcp and therefore weren't able to provide a copy of it in order to support the application. The timescale seems excessive for decisions. Anyone else with similar scan date still waiting?

Update
Rang for forms 8/08/24
SD 30/08/2024
Rang Monday 6/01/2025 said im in Financial hardship
Decision made 7/01/2025
Awarded MRC as she is 2,5 years old
Evidence send
*SENCO report
*Report from nursery
Backpay awarded from 8/08/2024

I was on hold for 30 mins and they put phone down, on hold again. I was filling in my daughters dla form and I think I forgot to sign and agree to them contacting people if they need to.
im thinking about doing hardship but don’t want it rushed and declined. I have a asd diagnosis. Report, speech and language, ieps. For two years. Senco letter backing up he like what he is at home in school even that he falls asleep regularly in school backing me up of night time not sleeping, and all the extra help they do. Ehpc draft. The fact he sits in middle of road if something upsets him school says he does this inschool playground no matter if it’s raining and lays there and gets soaking. He is 10 I’m really in two minds lol x

Glitzxx · 08/01/2025 15:22

Im a bit worried ill be declined as sleeping habits are fine sent what evidence i can suspected asd and adhd but sleeping habits are fine help

Dla is based on care needs and not diagnosis. Not every child has night time needs alot only have day time needs. It doesn't mean your not entitled, it just means you will likely get low/middle rate if awarded however it is up to the decision maker. And the evidence you sent and answers to the questions ect.

I been concerned about being rushed as well but big suprise for me today when i rang and been informed that she got awarded. But with so much documentation i wouldn't think they gonna decline.

Clearly your little one need extra help and support they i hope they will get your claim sorted ASAP and you will get what you actually suppose to not lower x

Can i send EHCP for her mobility later when she is older ?

It is such a hard battle 🥺

Part of me knows people with new claims are not currently getting any money for their children so COC might not be a big priority. But it is kinda heartbreaking reading about people in Sept/Oct being awarded and your forms have not even been allocated a DM yet 😭

I know I've been panicking because I ticked care needs haven't changed and left blank just did mobility part but people have said they look at whole claim and risk current award. But then I think she's literally just been rewarded in March HRC so surely can't go down. I'm all over the place just need to know. Good luck hope you get good news asap x

Hey hun i would send it on renewal. As renewals can be hard. Or if you didn’t get the award you wanted do coc when she attends the other school with more evidence from them.
yes I was thinking with all evidence I have I’m at least entitled to mrc and lrm but you never know do you. I’m still on hold. I’ll just see what comes out of my mouth when they finally answer. I’m only 19 weeks today but the wait is bloody silly when I was told 11 then 15 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Honestly, it is just exhausting, constantly chasing everyone and everything to give your child everything they need.
It annoyed me more the rude man on the phone telling me I am just past 22 weeks when I am 23 weeks!

I'm exhausted between dla, uc and the school and the kids I feel like I'm constantly chasing someone 😪

Unbelievable she wouldn’t even look at where it was, says financial hardship isn’t a thing and it doesn’t make a difference, said if you waited longer then 25 weeks then we can raise that but not until then. I said is it even with a decision maker no and won’t be till until 19th Feb. Scan date 28.08
so stressed with this crap lol x

Which numbers you put when you getting connected? I always put 1514 as they are nice there

SENmama1 · 08/01/2025 17:57

Scan date 25/08 NC.

I have only called once and that was to check the additional evidence that I sent in bad been received. From memory, even the automated message that you listen to when you call tells you not to call until "20 weeks/25 weeks" from the scan date. I have been watching this forum for a while and haven't seen one person say that their persistent calling had any impact on them getting their application dealt with sooner - so I am at a loss as to why people are calling asking for updates before this time frame.

I appreciate the timeframe is increasing, but the irony of the situation is that people calling before the current issued timeframe is doing nothing but wasting the staffs time and clogging the phone lines. It's basic supply and demand, if the phones are busy, more staff will be allocated to them and less will be processing applications.

When applications have been processed with a scan date ahead of others that haven't been, it will be that the DM that certain applications have been allocated to has processed them quicker - for a variety of reasons (some applications more complex/staff part time hours). It's not personal. I highly doubt applications are sat in one stack and processed one at a time to ensure they are in exact order.

I personally am waiting until the 25 weeks, by which time I know I will have a response. Maybe if others could do the same we may see the timeframe decrease, which we all want, DLA staff included.

You are wrong here. It's not the same staff that do the DLAs. I called today and found out I was awarded. I wouldn't know for another 6 days when it hits my account. I am now calmer, not checking my bank account in the morning, and feeling over the moon that it's all been worth it. I am relieved and that was worth the call alone. I've also been able to order £400 worth of equipment for my child with a discount code which would of ran out by Friday if I didn't call. Things he needs, it's not about making it go faster. Many people don't receive any comms and want to make sure it's not lost in the system, have correct and upto date evidence, especially as many send new info during the process. The number is there for a reason and it's not causing any delays in applications, or fast tracking them. But I am so glad I called today and know I'm now awarded after a 20 week wait (in which I was informed would be 14 weeks)

Yes 4, other enquiries, I don’t choose the update one lol. I said I was filling in my form for my daughter and I’m really concerned I didn’t answer the question of contacting the professionals she looked and said yes you did you are fine. I said can o ask if it’s with a dm yet she said no and won’t be till 19th Feb, I said can ask for a note to be put that I’m in financial hardship, she said that won’t make ans difference and it’s not even a thing. The wait is 25 weeks and that’s it. If after 25 weeks then we could put the note and raise it.
I wanted to say you told me 11, 15, 18, 20 and now 25. Maybe if you stopped false info people wouldn’t get so stressed and 6 months isn’t even plausible really but I couldn’t be assed. Plus I said speak to someone in English and she didn’t speak it very well either. Friday I will ring again. Lol.
