DLA WAIT TIMES THREAD 61

1000 replies

macap · 30/12/2024 17:21

Hey! Thought I'd make a new thread as previous one very close to being full!

These threads have been a big help whilst waiting for the outcome of our application. Sure they help everyone else too! It's stressful!

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.

New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?

Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.

Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.

If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)

Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.

If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

DLA contact number is 0800 121 4600

What worries me about this is whether the claim will get rushed through instead of looking at properly

How he explained it was that they will have 10 days to make decision then i wouldn't think they will rushed it. Bit i will be able to tell u in about 10 days hun

include child’s name & DOB & reference number if you have it (top right of any letter they send you) on all pages. I would advise send it signed and tracked. However it is a free post address. Hope that helps

I spoke to one person who told me my scan date was 16.08, then when I called again I was told the date they will count from is the 20.08?
They did say it would be a 25 week wait but I'm seeing people with similar dates get awards, the suspense is killing me!

SnappyHam · 06/01/2025 21:49

Micd3896 · 06/01/2025 16:05

Same scan date as me. I think we will have the decision by end of next week

Team 20/8 here too

Any news on renewals please

Im waiting on renewal but it’s my first one so feel lost with it! SD 17/12 due to end 28/04 no clue if I’ll hear soon or it’ll be days before it’s due to end. What’s your award end date?

Pigriver · 06/01/2025 23:20

Hi all, first time posting and just wondering if anyone could clarify. I sent the form off sometime in August (I'm a teacher and home stuff only gets done in the summer!) and last week received a letter about being an appointed person. It says
As DS has been awarded DLA your key responsibilities are....
Bit we haven't received a letter/text/email saying what we have been awarded and nothing has gone into the bank.
Is this a thing? Have we actually been awarded?

Renewals seem to be being processed in time. I wouldn’t worry just yet

Scan date 8/8/2024 rang before Christmas to be told with DM, still nothing rang today and advised 5 more weeks to wait

zoeybrooks45 · 07/01/2025 06:34

Hopefully this week starts to pick up! Gosh it’s been so slow these last couple of days. Fingers crossed. Everyone gets the award they have been waiting for xx

Ah that's annoying! I was told mine went to DM on 31/12 SD 14/08 NC.

I might ring today just to see if any updates, I think anxiety has intensified knowing it's with a DM.

south2midlandsmum · 07/01/2025 08:55

NC 15.8 Payment in bank today

Been keeping eye on dates here and wanted to share.

Looks like we have been awarded
MRC and LRM

which puts the award timeframe

at 20 weeks 1 day.

I'm based in the West Midlands

My child is 8, waiting for ASD assessment in a main stream school,

I documented his lack of awareness of danger ( with other adults)

Toileting issues

Waking at night/ night terrors

No sense of time or direction

Limited food , intake and variety

I didn't call for forms, I downloaded and filled them in on my laptop, used the guidance sheet and kept it simple.

Evidence -

ASD referral
2 × Senco recommendation sheets

Hope this helps, like you lady's have help me with the wait - GOODLUCK

Exactly this! To be honest I think the school couldn’t have helped more in terms of their report. They went into so much detail, even in terms of saying how he’s had to be physically restrained and other members of staff called into class to help. I didn’t expect them to be that honest to be fair as I found with my other sons school they sugar coated everything until things got real bad

My son’s first primary school were similar. They allowed it to get to a point where they permanently excluded him whereas his second primary were aware and didn’t go down that route even though they could have. I believe he now tries to mask hence his poor attendance at secondary as it’s too much effort and he knows it’ll result in PE should be be his true self there

I feel for you as my oldest son was the same only his primary denied it all it was his secondary school who backed me up but still he went through all senior school with very little help his EHCP was pointless as school didn’t follow it and council didn’t enforce it so was an endless battle for him. By year 11 he was doing 1 day a week in school and barely coping with that. For reference he is ADHD, ASD And OCD xx

Nicnacnoo82 · 07/01/2025 09:38

Omg! We got it 🙂 so happy for my son as we can now put more stuff in place to support him with his ADHD got MRC/LRM.

NC SD 14/08
Went to DM 31/12
Awarded 3rd Jan

Good luck to everyone else waiting. I was told I would get text but that has not happened, the guy I spoke to was lovely and just told me everything there and then didn't have to ask to speak to anyone else told me what had been awarded, how much back pay was and next payment date.

Kc1999x · 07/01/2025 10:08

Congrats to all awarded!

Rags2Richards · 07/01/2025 10:12

Congrats to the new awards. I am at 20 weeks on Thursday NC. Anxiety through the roof. I don’t want to phone to be given the 25 week speech. So trying my best to be patient. Good luck to those still waiting. Such hard fight for our children 🤦‍♀️😔

BlueDeea · 07/01/2025 10:15

Phoned again. Not assigned 😒 nc- 23.08

just a tip for everyone waiting, just called for an update and call was answered instantly, no hold music or queue :)

TippieTappyTara · 07/01/2025 10:32

Updated; My son was declined EHCP ( was assessed during school change in September ) the new school didn't have enough evidence to supply. The school said not to fight it and to wait for them to observe and assist his needs which im not too happy about . I am Still waiting on DLA - MR decisions got until april for that apparently, should I still send evidence of EHCP results and the Psychologist report?

cheyannel · 07/01/2025 10:35

also, i've been waiting on a COC and also a NC, the COC hadn't been assigned to DM (20 weeks today since SD 20/08), i mentioned i was struggling financially and the man was really nice, emailed someone regarding the COC and requested it get picked up by DM ASAP, luckily the NC is with decision maker :D very excited to be rid of the anxiety of waiting! good luck guys!

Amazing news! Been keeping my 🤞🏼 for you. Surely mine can't be much longer and hoping it's good news too.

Been following this thread and thought I would comment!
NC
Forms sent 17/08
sd 28/08
called yesterday as not heard anything at all, not even a letter.
was told our claim is with a case manager. I presume this is the same as a decision maker? Did anyone have a quick decision once it reached a case manager, or we in for a few more weeks wait?

fingers crossed for everyone waiting, hopefully not much longer now!! 🤞🏻
