DLA WAIT TIMES THREAD 61

1000 replies

macap · 30/12/2024 17:21

Hey! Thought I'd make a new thread as previous one very close to being full!

These threads have been a big help whilst waiting for the outcome of our application. Sure they help everyone else too! It's stressful!

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.

New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?

Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.

Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.

If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)

Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.

If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

DLA contact number is 0800 121 4600

Could be a day. Could be 2 weeks depends if they contact people. Im 28.8 and was told it’s still in queue lol x

See this is why i don’t 100% believe them and to be honest communication is shocking with them i never got told had my form had letter asking for birth certificate then one sending it back saying should be done within 15 weeks thats all ive had of them other than me ringing today beacuse its almost 19weeks

Lou0507 · 06/01/2025 15:57

Scan date 20/8 was told it would be made by 6/1 in December. Rang today its not with DM yet and it will be 25 weeks now which then takes us to Feb. Absolutely crazy that they can take this long and no communication with us. I had to sit on hold for 40 mins to find out we have to wait longer. Urgh

I saw one on FB looked like a quick one though so not sure where they were

Cazzy1984 · 06/01/2025 16:21

Finally got through to a man and after some of the previous posts I was fully expecting him to be nasty but he was lovely although still no decision. Usual can take 25 weeks to get to DM and then another 5 for decision. He said as I'm over 20 weeks it should be any time and welcome to call anytime to check. If a decision is made they can tell us. He said text after decision is made is random as it's upto DM but he has put note to say a text has been requested. Now back to the dreaded wait.

My scan date is also 20/8 when I rang in November to check they had extra info I sent the man told me and of Jan. Rang again last week to check on more info I had sent and again the women said 25weeks due to all the bank holidays. It was still in holding queue when phoned last week.

Gmam1994 · 06/01/2025 16:34

Ring them up tomorrow and say that u are in "Financial hardship" even if you are not.
Thats magic ward for them which he will have to put on notes and day after they have to assign by next day and decision will have to be made by 10 days. Hope that will help someone 😉

Princess23 · 06/01/2025 16:59

Thank you, I might try this tomorrow. Even if I don't like to admit it. I probably am in financial hardship since putting in the claim I've had to give up work due to school refusal and the amount of appointments, had to replace a cooker, freezer and 2 radiators due to damage caused in meltdowns and replaced her mattress and carpet due to wetting (she's 10!) I don't think they realise that yes we might have to get up 14 times each night, and go to school and deal with meltdowns but it's the financial strain that really keeps me awake! I've used all my savings to just survive sorry I don't mean to rant but I'm exhausted 😴

They dont understand that at all. I dont think most if any of then have a child with extra needs and they dont really want to sit there and answer the phone.
I hope everything will get sorted for You ASAP
I been on phone today for 40 min and nice gentleman told me "well its sadly not with dm or even in line to be assign yet" and i asked then what if im struggling right now with everything and im in Financial hardship ,which he responded "you said the magic wards there, i will put notes for u and u should have decision in 10 days "

Hey lovelies I did mr back in July for hrm just called and a decision was made on the 3rd of Jan but she couldn’t tell me over the phone she said they are not allowed to give outcome of mr over the phone does this mean it’s a no then she said wait for a letter but I’m ringing enquiry’s now anyone one else had this happen to them x

Did you find out👀

Kc1999x · 06/01/2025 18:13

@SKB12 random one. How long is it till the blue badge is posted out👀 I’m planning a long trip with the kids and need close access at service stations, I want to plan around receiving that cause all these other long trips have been an absolute joke😂😂

mummyto3littlebeautys · 06/01/2025 18:20

@Kc1999x yes lovely they haven’t given hrm still stayed the same HRC and LRM but just lengthened his award for another 4 years. I will be going to tribunal because I just find there decision wrong again! I’ve sent absolutely everything from severe intellectual disability to autism assessment Peads OT report ehcp salt reports psychology reports and still not good enough. I’m currently going through tribunal at the moment for a specialist setting as my local authority have agreed my son needs specialist setting but 14 schools I consulted with in and out the area can’t meet needs. Just one big circle all the time. X

how devastating! Keep fighting! This was my fear with my MR. Having to go tribunal for the DLA and then I’m waiting on paperwork to start tribunal for specialist provision for my son too🤦🏽‍♀️ fingers crossed they over turn the decision before tribunal for both for you!🤞🏽🤞🏽

Don't be sorry we all know what's it's like, I'm really struggling too and hate to have to admit that to them 😢 I don't think they realise the financial strain

What worries me about this is whether the claim will get rushed through instead of looking at properly

It’s unbelievable, they don’t even care!!
we have to wait this long not knowing if they will consider our applications and award the little ones correctly!
Was told today that I still have 8 more weeks so mid March 🙂‍↕️ I entered week 17 today week 25 is 3rd of march to 7th.
they told me initially I would have my decision by end January.

Oh love this sounds like my life. I fully understand, my daughter is 14 on Saturday, only found out I could claim without a diagnosis in summer when my son was diagnosed asd. I gave up my job Feb last year and today took her out of school to home school due to school refusal for 5 years and now they coming at me with social care etc, but social care where on my side thankfully. Can’t leave her at home as she not great and been suggested by speech and language her metal age is 8. She has had assessment for adhs and asd but Chams won’t tell me anymore as she 13 now and they wanted her permission and she refused. Last I heard it’s at panel. I just sat here and done my daughter’s forms after they didn’t receive them. So lost 12 weeks. But 19 weeks for my son. Inbox me if you ever need a chat! It’s so hard xx
