DLA WAIT TIMES THREAD 61

1000 replies

macap · 30/12/2024 17:21

Hey! Thought I'd make a new thread as previous one very close to being full!

These threads have been a big help whilst waiting for the outcome of our application. Sure they help everyone else too! It's stressful!

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.

New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?

Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.

Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.

If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)

Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.

If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

DLA contact number is 0800 121 4600

Called again. Still not assigned 23.08 nc. I couldn’t keep myself from calling. I was going to wait until the 10th but hey 🤣

I'm at the I want to call everyday twice a day point, and self restraint is going out the window 🤣 MR 14/08

@Kc1999x theyve awarded my son until he turns 17 just the day before. I didn’t think that was possible. Dreading PIP application if they require his engagement I think we will fall down right there given how he currently is 😩

The same happened for my dd awarded dla to day before 17th birthday. But we heard from pip long before she turned 17.
December: we got a letter explaining about pip and about being an appointee.
January: turned 16
Februaray: invited to claim pip
March: pip awarded

My dd sussefully got pip without a medical. I applied to be appointee and dealt with the claim

I called to check evidence was scanned on. No updates and not assigned to any case manager. MR scan date 20/08

Phoned yesterday at 12.30 and still not assigned blah blah wait until 5th Feb. Just fed up now, UC have messed up my payment for December and no one is responding to my messages so I'm 700 down and DLA are just as useless 😫🤣 they really like making it difficult

Shellbel10 · 03/01/2025 10:13

Hi is there any news on renewals

GraceS25 · 03/01/2025 10:48

@PurpleNurpleGurple not yet no but I’m thinking of calling next week, I will keep you updated! Good luck 🤞🏽

Icm19 · 03/01/2025 11:05

It's just rubbish having to wait this long 😢

Cazzy1984 · 03/01/2025 11:43

This wait is so hard now that so many with same SD have received a decision. Was told I'd get a text. Do they often text when decision is made? I never received any letter so won't be surprised if I don't get a text either.

Ash900 · 03/01/2025 11:50

I know they’re saying 25 weeks but seems to be averaging 20 weeks I think? They originally told me middle of Jan but I think I’ll aim for end of Jan as sd 12/09 so 20 weeks takes me to 30th Jan. Getting there 😂 bound to be a decline and I’ll have to start an even longer wait, so maybe I’ll aim for end of the year with how it’s going 🙄😂🙃

PIP is by far easier than DLA. My son’s award was due to end March this year, he was invited to claim pip in August (he turned 16 in March last year. Took them 4 weeks to make a decision no medical needed he was Enhanced care and enhanced mobility for 10 years. For reference he is ADHD and ASD. By far the easiest process I’ve ever done. One tip I would say is send in all evidence from every where all reports etc and state on the form he won’t cope with an assessment x

Kc1999x · 03/01/2025 12:30

@SKB12 just had confirmation through that my son has been awarded his blue badge through the automatic route. Thank god!

Mumofnine · 03/01/2025 12:50

Got payback last week just received a letter and need someones advice please as I want to report a change on universal credit but when it asks when did the change happen do you put from scan date of DLA or the date of the DLA letter received saying you have been awarded? Thank you so much in advance xxx

I was told mine was with DM yesterday and that there is a note to text when decision made but I think it's hit or miss from what I've read on here.

I'm now anxiously waiting as was picked up on 31st aware it can take anywhere from hours to days for them to make decision. 🤢

it’s been 16 weeks for me and my anxiety levels are so high 🤣🥲🥲

So you’ll have your appointee letters come through around his 16th birthday. It’s so you have time to transfer over! I think you’ll be fine may even do PIP just paper based with any luck🤞🏽🤞🏽

Honestly I hope it’s not a difficult process as one of his things is to refuse to engage with professionals and more so with ones he doesn’t know so that’s going to be fun 😅

Excellent news. We’ve just been notified today too! I only submitted his paperwork this morning! We’ve also had his letter from DLA through, he was awarded under SMI

been told today that my claim is definitely not with a decision maker and that it will only be with one from 25 weeks 😆 this is despite despite being told all last week on 3 different occasions that’s it’s with the DM 🧐 The plot thickens….. 23 weeks today 🤯

Surely you can make a complaint? Why are they giving you incorrect information? I am sorry. It’s so hard waiting when you’re nearly at the end. Hopefully not long left there now xx
