DLA WAIT TIMES THREAD 61

1000 replies

macap · 30/12/2024 17:21

Hey! Thought I'd make a new thread as previous one very close to being full!

These threads have been a big help whilst waiting for the outcome of our application. Sure they help everyone else too! It's stressful!

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.

New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?

Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.

Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.

If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)

Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.

If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

DLA contact number is 0800 121 4600

Congrats to all the awards so far. I'm the same SD too. Hate the wait now. Wanna call but also don't want to if they're just going to be horrible and say there's upto 25 weeks wait etc.

DuffTrio · 02/01/2025 14:38

ive now sent off extra evidence for my son including all his assessment and diagnosis. Recorded next day delivery, Im doubting they would look at it when they get it tomorrow but does anyone know how long in look at? or whether I should ring and tell them it’s now coming?

You would only need your details, child’s and your national insurance number if you don’t have your child’s ref number

I just rang to ask if it was too late to send more evidence, they said no and put a note on our file about extra evidence. 🙂
We’re at week 22 🙂

Micd3896 · 02/01/2025 15:10

Just seen in a Facebook group someone phoned this morning and was told not with decision maker then got a text a few hours later saying they qualify with a 15/8 scan date. Genuinely think the telephone advisors talk sh*t

Kc1999x · 02/01/2025 15:10

macap · 02/01/2025 14:06

@Kc1999x that makes sense. Our family support worker is encouraging me to apply for our 20m old.. she is behind in all areas but not to the extent of needing different care to that of other 20m olds (in my opinion anyway..) so I'm reluctant to. We have another portage session next week so I may ask her about it!

I can see how they use that when it's for a younger child but I wonder how they do it for older kids like teens 🤔

Maybe we should all become DM Grin

It’s hard isn’t. My 18month old is suspected asd but atm I’m not putting in a claim for him because his care needs arent different to an 18month old whereas my oldest had extra care needs from a very young age.
my sister has a teenage daughter, school provided evidence for her and then the diagnosis report and stuff like that.
i feel like parents of children with additional needs would make great decision makers 😂😂

Cazzy1984 · 02/01/2025 15:12

I decided to call. Still no decision but lady on phone was lovely this time. She found the claim straight away and gave me the temp ref number so it's easier if I call up again. Additional evidence has also finally been added. Should get a text soon with decision and she said I can call then to find out details but to call back in 2 weeks if not hear anything either. Seen loads of same SD so hoping it's not decline just extra checks coz he's under 3.

I have already been told no for both my claims but given chance to send extra evidence. Just hope it’s not to long. I’m at 20+3 today and was told today for one claim and 31 on my other

Probably call them and let them know as it takes up to one to two week after receiving the evidence to be scanned on their system.

Managed to get through just before they closed was on hold for ages, it's with DM now was picked up on 31st December!

012345k · 02/01/2025 17:18

Seeing a lot of awards for the 14th August on FB. anyone had any updates from the 28th? Still thinking I’m in for a 2week wait at minimum

macap · 02/01/2025 19:54

Just had my DD10 QBcheck results back... is it worth sending it off as evidence of hyperactivity/impulsivity or will they not have a clue what they are looking at as not medically trained?

How do they decide what is a normal amount of care for a child? Like is there a guide they follow to know what's deemed typical care? 🤔

I am actually a nursery Senco, in order to decide the amount of care they wound normally compare the child A to a child B that is developing at stage and rate according to milestones and birth to 5 matters if a child is under 5.!
for instance child A is 3 and can only use 10 words. And a child be who is meeting the milestones is using 1000 this means that child A is behind and would need a lot more support communicating his/her needs and becoming independent as communication underpins other areas of the development.
you can use this example and see on physical development child A is 5 and is not toilet trained would need extra care being changed compared to child B who is toilet trained at the same age.
they have a guidance to determine level of care and supervision according to age and stage. For early years usually is against birth to 5 matters.

PurpleNurpleGurple · 02/01/2025 20:49

Scan Date of 6/9

Originally told that should all be sorted by early January but guessing that won’t be the case now if others (who have scan dates of early August) only just being sorted.

macap · 02/01/2025 20:51

Brilliant thank you @Justawaitingmum

My DD 20m has been referred to SALT and has a portage worker. It will be interesting to see how she goes in at her two year review though I think this may be a bit earlier as I think the HV likes to meet with the portage worker in our area and do the visit together.

She does show signs of ASD so it won't really surprise me if they do suggest this.

For someone with no words/double babble she is very loud. Grin

My little boy is 3, nursery senco is observing him when he goes back next week. I’m pretty sure he’s ASD but I want their input. We left it late with our 13 year old which I regret as it took him being permanently kicked out of school and he’s never recovered from that with having some education
