DLA WAIT TIMES THREAD 61

1000 replies

macap · 30/12/2024 17:21

Hey! Thought I'd make a new thread as previous one very close to being full!

These threads have been a big help whilst waiting for the outcome of our application. Sure they help everyone else too! It's stressful!

Please feel free to add your scan date and whether it's a new claim/mandatory reconsideration/change of circumstances or renewal.

New claims (NC) - people are being told the wait time has increased to 25 weeks! I would say most are done before this though around the 20 week mark?

Mandatory reconsideration (MC) and Change of circumstances (COC) is around 20-25 weeks.

Renewals tend to be between 15-20 weeks.

If you disagree with the outcome of an MR you can appeal and go to court (tribunal)

Scan date is the date DLA scan your application forms on to their system, if you downloaded your application forms then this will be from when your award will be backdated from. If you called up for forms then the date on those is the date yours will be backdated from.

If successful and claiming universal credit (UC) please update them as this will entitle you to disabled child element adding extra to your award.

DLA contact number is 0800 121 4600

Hey guys.
happy new year.
well I held off ringing for 3 weeks. Spoke to a lovely lady, other two times I called they been very rude. Well anyone around the 28/08, the decision was made two weeks before Xmas that the wait time went up to 25 weeks and it passed, mine needs to be looked at by the 19th feb. I said to her about this forum and we can see dates getting done and she agreed the claims are going quicker in August, then. July but they still have until the 19th, mine still lot been assigned. I said 6 months is getting a bit silly tho, she said honestly we have took lots of measures in the last few weeks to get these wait times down.
so I thought I’d just let you all know.
i didn’t understand dla. I thought you had to be diagnosed, so didn’t bother applying. I could have applied for dla when my son was 6, with all the referrals and that, I missed out on 4 years, he was diagnosed autistic this summer, with very challenging behaviours.

Wigswaddis · 02/01/2025 12:09

I’m 28/8 too. I’ve been fairly patient up until Christmas but I have no patience left, it’s terribly stressful.

I’m 20.08 so I’ll probably be 25 weeks too, I’m at 19w2days currently and it’s been with a decision maker since before Xmas they even called me for additional info and still no closer

I have seen 3 people get awarded 21, and two 22, this is what annoys me, that was a week before Xmas. I have seen it really depends if the claim in is simple, ie evidence, needing more, etc but I sent loads and I know a diagnoses they say doesn’t help but I think it sways the dms more X

I saw a 23.08 on the 24th as well…

hi I’m currently 7 weeks into MR and have a long wait.. does anyone know how long roughly it takes to hear back?

my original claim was declined, and in the report it stated ‘there was no input from cahms’ yet my child sees cahms every month? Also half the report they refer to my child as ‘him’ and second half they refer to him as ‘her’ so I’m really confused on how they came to this decision, the reason for the decline doesn’t seem to match up with my child’s original claim forms.

Hey hun sorry to say this but mr is taking at least 23-25 weeks atm. i been here a few weeks. I was seeing and speaking to two people that waited 18 weeks for nc then 23 for mr. It was painful to see for them. It was hitting nearly a bloody year. X

Especially when they can’t even be bothered to update the government website, that still states 15 weeks. Citizens advice that’s says within 12 weeks such false information.

I think it was seeing the 25 weeks that p* me off then them actually confirming it on the phone. I was told 15, 18 then 20 , now 25. Its unbelievable.

Really gets your hopes up when going in to this process and you predict a certain date in your head based on the 15 weeks for it to then be completely untrue and to get told so many different things.

It’s getting so frustrating. I’m not even bothering calling until next week, absolutely sick of it now. Claims should be processed strictly in date order unless it’s a claim for the terminally ill then I think they should be processed first and a lot sooner than 25 weeks.

they either need to get more staff because if they don’t it will be a 50 week wait by March!

Exactly this! I’m being told 11th feb is the deadline now, but previously it was 7th Jan, 3rd December.

they genuinely wouldn’t get so many calls if they was honest from the get go and stop moving the goal post

Same here, I'm working from home and have the kids with me and it's still a massive take nor to think about it 🤣🤪

StEpH3020 · 02/01/2025 13:11

COC SD 29/07/24 rang for form on 23/07/24.

I sent EHCP with SEN school acceptance. Diagnosis of ASD with Associated GDD, my son is nonverbal, with a social communication report. I also sent SALT reviews.

I deferred my son's school year start until 2025 as EHCP would not be done in time for a September 24 start. The school he was supposed to start said his needs were too high to meet and that if EHCP was sent to them they would say they could not meet his needs at that time.
SEN school responded in November.

I am so anxious that I messed up the form of do not have enough evidence for HRC and LRM (5 In Feb 25) everything but currently on week 23 from the scan date and the thought of ringing again to be told nothing fills me with dread!

Renewal SD 17/12
Due to end 28/04

No idea what to think for time frames as it’s my first one. I think in my head if I haven’t heard by 21/04 I’ll call. Anyone know anything about renewals? We get HRC LRM and was awarded 2 years, we now have almost all our diagnosis’ ASD, ADHD and just waiting on dyslexia. Waiting on our appointment for continuance, she’s 10y and still bed wets.

@Kc1999x that makes sense. Our family support worker is encouraging me to apply for our 20m old.. she is behind in all areas but not to the extent of needing different care to that of other 20m olds (in my opinion anyway..) so I'm reluctant to. We have another portage session next week so I may ask her about it!

I can see how they use that when it's for a younger child but I wonder how they do it for older kids like teens 🤔

Maybe we should all become DM Grin
