Does anyone know what happens if your child is awarded when they are 4.5 years old? Do you immediately have to fill in all the paperwork again because they are eligible for lower rate mobility at five?

SD 12.3
Awarded 5.7

I don't have an answer to this but was hoping anyone who knows could tag me too. I'm waiting on MR hopefully any day now for my son who will be 5 in October and others with his condition have some rare of mobility so I'm curious about what happens with that. That's assuming he's even awarded anything after being declined at first 😞

I think they give you mobility award but delay it till they turn 5 so for example you get hrc but lrm when he turns 5 so you don't have to go through form again.. I think it's if your child is due to turn 5 within few months

<looks around to check the coast is clear>

Very quiet on awards this week. Have seen someone on fb be awarded after 18 weeks which would give me another week. Dd could really do with a hair cut as her thick, curly hair makes everything so difficult for her but I’m completely broke and can’t afford it. Plus she needs new clothes as she’s put on a lot of weight due to meds and being unable to leave the house in so long.

SD 14/03

Princess23 · 10/07/2024 16:44

Mine is the 15/3 ❤️ an still nothing theink are might be next week 🤞 hopefully good luck hun x

Are you going to call again this week? I was thinking Friday but maybe I should leave it until Monday?

Princess23 · 10/07/2024 16:49

Might phone them Friday late ish because they seem to do them Fridays an ppl get told on the Monday the decision when they phone hopefully 🤞 shouldn’t be long now for us ❤️x

Mumoffourlovelies · 10/07/2024 16:57

I called today to ask for a text with decision, my scan date is 28/03. She said it's in the pile and not been passed to anyone to look at yet, but would think by the end of this month I'd hear.

Cassiex · 10/07/2024 17:04

Scan date 19/4
Called today for an update as nearly 12 weeks.
Was told decision should be made by 6th September but could be up to the 28th September (24 weeks) as they are very behind now due to system failures 😭

MotherAndDSon · 10/07/2024 17:32

Guess no award been given today 😕

zoeybrooks45 · 10/07/2024 17:59

This system is designed to put us against each other. It’s the government that’s failing SEN children whether through DLA, specialist provision, education plans/supports, referrals and health care professionals waiting list. I hope this new government do something about this dreaded system because it is failing everyone!

the weeks not over yet, hopefully we hear a lot more awards before the weekend. Keep positive 💐

Trevs1988 · 10/07/2024 18:09

Hi all,
Been following a while thought this may give you all some hope. I had a scan date of 28/3 then for some reason when I last spoke to them they said 22/3. I had the text to say my daughter was awarded today X

It is, among other professionals you have to battle aswell it's disgraceful. It's so hard fighting for the right support for your child or even getting someone to listen. Im lucky in a way that dla has been the easiest battle for us X

So true

I am so happy for you and your daughter, congratulations again 🎉

Brittany95 · 10/07/2024 18:59

Congratulations to those who have been awarded 🥰🎉

my son will be 4 in September and is tall for his age so is getting to big for his current pushchair. Therefore i will be replacing it soon and buying a disability pushchair (his nursery, peadiatrician and Salt have all advised me to get one for him) as he has no awareness of danger, elopes and will throw himself to the ground and refuse to walk when distressed or overwhelmed/overstimulated. so he needs to be in a pushchair for his own safety

i was wondering iff anyone could give me any advice/opinions/ recommendations about disability pushchairs such as which one would be best or iff they are pretty much the same. for example is there any difference between mobiequip xl and the excel elise .

Thank you for your reply that really does help ☺️

what age does the special tomato eio pushchair go up to. I feel it would be a good pram for my son as he likes to lay back and hide with hood down when overwhelmed/overstimulated and sometimes will go to sleep when out and about but i know its quite expensive compared to the mobiequip xl and excel elise , so i really need one that will last a long time for my my son

Yeah they are worth every penny you even get the basket under what most don't have.. and upto 9-12 year old so will be only one you will need to buy.. they don't look awful either.. they can have leg rest up and down and is still comfortable when lied down.. you can buy add on bits like foot muff and stuff aswell.. but I highly recommend that one..

Shannon1995x · 10/07/2024 20:41

Hi ladies I rung up today my scan date is 20/03 and got told that it is with the decision maker now and should hear back within the week ☺️ When I spoke to them last week they said could take up to the 7th august I’ve seen someone on here with same scan date got told the same thing so hopefully theirs will be with the decision maker now too
