Anyone with a scan date of 27/03 heard anything yet?

My SD is 13/03 and yesterday the lady said it’s still in the new claims department, when I said is it being looked at she said she can’t tell me, they all say something different.. I got my migration notice to change from tax credits to UC which is due by 2nd August. Was hoping to have it all sorted before I change over but I’m not too hopeful 😩

MotherAndDSon · 10/07/2024 09:24

Almost 16 week and Stil not with a DM 😡

Good luck everyone

Tiny1994 · 10/07/2024 09:26

@MotherAndDSon I'm 16 weeks today and still not with DM

NimbleQuail · 10/07/2024 09:32

17 weeks tomorrow and not with DM. I’ve seen some on the fb page just being awarded from beginning of march 18 weeks ish

MrsMacmumto6 · 10/07/2024 09:35

Called up this morning to see if I have time to send additional evidence SD 20/3 was told I have lots of time as claims are taking 20 weeks so I’m not further up the queue. Going to send this evidence off and try switch off from it all. I’m wondering (and no offence to anybody) are all the priorities now being put to the front of the queue

I don't think they have any specific order they do them in to be fair, I've seen beginning middle and end of March dates awarded this week, also the standard way are agency mainly and can only see part of your claim and are told to say update 20 weeks wait, there is another option way where they can see more info on claim. I do get where you're coming from though priority will go infront and I get some need it but I think there's times people use it if you get what i mean (as said no offence if you genuinely need it) which then pushes everyone who's just waiting further back, but then seen some priority done same/next day and some wait for 2/3 weeks so I don't think getting priority makes much of a difference all the time anyway.

Can anyone help with the universal credit side. I’ve done the change to say that my daughter gets DLA. But what do I do about the carers element. They aren’t coming back to me at all

hope for more positive awards today xx

Tiredmum1223 · 10/07/2024 09:57

Hi all,

I've just called the DLA and had the brilliant news my DD has been awarded MRC! It got awarded yesterday but had no text or anything. I cant tell you how happy I am for this, I was worried she wouldn't get awarded as she hasn't had an official diagnosis yet.
I hope you all get some positive news soon! X

Congratulations! Such a relief isn't it!? Do you mind me asking what your scan date was?

Tiredmum1223 · 10/07/2024 10:07

Thank you, yes it is such a relief!
My scan date isn't until 20/4 but it got made a priority as she is struggling a lot more and needing a lot more supervision at home and at school. X

Princess23 · 10/07/2024 10:53

Hi all just a quick question has anyone had a child or knows someone that’s got a child that’s been awarded Dla for hypothyroidism x

CyanFawn · 10/07/2024 10:54

I've just called as was some confusion around tracking for the extra evidence sent and royal mail asked to confirm if dla have it otherwise they'd have to sort through all the mail in the mail centre to find it, luckily it's there. I asked about wait times and he said they're going to case managers at 15 weeks and then taking around a week for decision so if I've not heard by end of July call back (SD 01/04).

Who knows what it will be with all the different answers people keep getting, I don't see how there's all the inconsistency in wait time ect.

ThatWittyRuby · 10/07/2024 11:23

Hi all, not DLA but I can't log on to my UC account this morning. Is it just me? I'm awaiting disabled child element to be added to my UC claim and wanted to chase it up. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I didn’t call the standard way I did the 1523 route. I’ve been on this journey 4 years now with my eldest (different claim) and there never used to be as many priorities as there is now. I agree lots of people should be made priority but there also should be evidence of the priority need otherwise we get people waiting say 19 weeks just to be put behind someone else it’s crazy! At renewal 18 months ago I waited 22 weeks so I know the wait is not easy it was just a thought that popped into my head while typing

Murphy47 · 10/07/2024 12:14

Scan date 20/3 rang up last week and they said it’s was being looked at rang up just now and said it can take up to 20 weeks and will be made by 7 th of august , getting different feed back every time I ring so frustrating x

I can't imagine the care need would qualify for dla, as long as the medication is taken every morning there isn't much else extra

Like you if it’s a genuine priority then yes of course I’m happy for these people ,however when you see posts that say they were made a priority because they were over 16 weeks seems very unfair when you yourself have gone over this to and have to wait it out .

Yeah I agree there should be some sort of evidence because as much as people will deny there are people who use it because they don't want to wait. I rang that way this morning aswell to check evidence was recieved and he told me they're taking 15 weeks to get to case manager then around a week to be done, there's just so many different things said its unbelievable

Mialeighx · 10/07/2024 13:04

I’m not 100% but I think before being made priority it has to be agreed by DM not just call handler for good enough reasons before being actually made a priority which is why some wait weeks during priority others days x

zoeybrooks45 · 10/07/2024 13:36

At the end of the day, everybody is priority we all have disabled children and are struggling to work and live day to day. For exceptional reasons it should be allowed but you should provide proof before because it’s not fair on others. We are all struggling the same.

Mamof2devils · 10/07/2024 13:59

Well this a rant I don't care if I'm slated for it or not but these past few weeks this thread as turned from helping with advice through the waiting times to how to get highest dla priority and other benefits as fast as they can it's actually shameful to read!!!
I struggle every day and night with 2 special needs children and a job.. my children smash house up hit each other swear dont sleep constantly need watching.. they act their wild animals constantly but hey special needs of a child is no easy ride,
I am not however struggling with money.. my children's dla isnt spent as of yet it's is in a separate bank account for if its needed in the future and if its not needed it will go to them to help them when they are an adult.. I don't get child benefit child tax carers any sort of benefits for my children, I had my children and I provide for them.. yes it is nice for a bit of help with how expensive it is replacing things they brake the shoes clothes they ruin and the nice things we want to give them to help them through life.. but some people are abusing dla and only wanting money for themselves and want carers and all the extras that come with it.. hoping and praying they will get awarded and banking on the payment at the end.. some people need to think of life and what they have no its not nice having a child that's a bit different but money isn't the answer although it might help the best thing the child needs is support love and care from their parents.. they don't care how well dressed they are and most are happy with ball a tub of bubbles and been walked or pushed out in the fresh air and surely that doesn't cost much.. think people need to think how they manage before awared dla instead of seeing pounds signs In there eyes trying to blag the system for as much as they can as quick as they can.. life with special needs children is hard it is stressful and it is draining but it cost nothing to give love and support to a child as that alls they need the most!

Or maybe they do give all the love and support and are simply trying to access what their children are entitled to when the system purposely makes it hard. If my child is awarded DLA I don't see it as my money. It's his. And I will save some for him and manage the rest to do things or provide things that give him joy or make his life easier/ better and enable him to better access things that are difficult as a child with SEND. There too many ppl who think parents of children with SEND are money grabbers and I don't think we should start thinking it amongst ourselves.....you say you don't struggle financially. I'm sure that if you did, you'd have a different opinion

Billie87 · 10/07/2024 14:10

@Mamof2devils I can't speak for everyone but I think a lot of people need the money to provide for the extra care their child needs. Some have had to drop hours at work because their child cannot function in full time education, some need to buy specific items to assist their child or pay for fuel to get to appointments. Everyone on this thread is struggling in a different way and I understand what you are saying but bubbles and a ball won't suit every child's needs. Even down to having to drive the extra miles to buy the specific food your child eats because otherwise they won't eat anything. The wait time is horrendous if you are living on the breadline and spending over budget to accommodate for your child's needs and then having to quit your job. If someone deems they are in need of priority and dla accept the reason then it's no one's business but the parents and the child. I support every person that requests a priority to access the money they need. It's very unkind to assume that people are chasing money for their personal needs. A child needs evidence to access dla for a reason. You cannot just submit an application because you want extra money.
