@AllGoodThingsWillCome can you tell us what happened yesterday at tribunal xx what was you asking them to overturn? Xx

AllGoodThingsWillCome · 09/07/2024 16:18

@Aussielover so normally three individuals, one judge, one dr or nurse and a disability spokesperson- mine was done over video call but sometimes they can ask you to appear in court- they take it in turns to ask you questions and then at the end they ask if you want to say anything before they make their decision. Normally you get a letter within 20 mins with a decision and sometimes they tell you there and then. I asked them to overturn a decline into HRC for my little girl who has had complex medical issues since in the womb. They were quite stern with me and asked me questions I believe to try and see if I was telling the truth but she won and got HRC she deserves. Hope this helps X

AllGoodThingsWillCome · 09/07/2024 16:19

@Aussielover sorry forgot to add the letter will be on your appeals account under Outcome.

Hi, long time following first time posting. My SD is 15/03 (dla). I called up two days ago and still no decision. My nerves are through the roof. My little one is 3 in October, he is on the autism pathway, he’s nonverbal, he is with The pediatrician, he does speech and language, he has SEND involved at nursery and at home and his nursery are applying for 121 funding for him at the setting. He needs lots of help with communication, he’s a one man band and doesn’t really interact with other children. Please can somebody tell me if he stands a chance at getting dla? I so want him to thrive with the right help that he needs. 17 weeks I’ve waited. I don’t want to wait any longer xx

For some reassurance my child was awarded 2.5 years old for those reasons. I think you will be fine. Hopefully your wait is over soon x

See my boy isn’t violent, but gets angry when he wants something and he’s trying to communicate with me but if I don’t understand what he wants he throws a right tantrum. He wakes in the night a few times a month but never for 5 mins always hours on end. He’s also a croup baby we end up in a&e once a month with croup all night and that’s hard work. He does not say one word and he’s 3 in oct. He’s the most loving little boy though. Keeps himself to himself at nursery apparently and he doesn’t play with boys. He doesn’t eat with folk or spoon either. I’m so worried he won’t get anything, I don’t want lower rate as that won’t do anything for him, I’d be delighted if it was medium. Higher would be a bonus to get the best support he needs. Also peads and wrote to the council to say he’d benefit from having his own bedroom (currently shares with his 8 yo brother) so I sent that letter in as evidence also. I gave reports from me, my mum, my neighbour, old childminder (to which had to let him go because she didn’t have the time for him) nursery, peads and SEND. I’m just worrying for him and my heart is breaking for him xx

Phoned today the long way, scan date 13/03. My daughter was awarded MRC and LRM until 2028, although can't quite work that out as she will be 16 in 2027. Decision made this morning and back pay released. Good luck to all still waiting ❤️

Being on lrc won't effect the funding for nursery, you just need to be in receipt of dla for the nursery to get the disability funding, so lrc will still get the help he needs

I think you will definitely get awarded something rates Is something I don’t really no but I think more then likely MRC my child gets HRC due to constant supervision throughout both the day and night he elopes has no sense of danger violent can’t communicate doesn’t like children in his space and will push them or hit them and staff at school if we go to the park I can’t sit on the bench and watch him play or have a conversation with another mum I have to be right by him watching constantly because he will Elope or he will attack anyone or anything for the slightest of things could be a child crying next to him and he will push or hit that child or an adult talking to loud around him again he can’t communicate so it is hard to figure out the triggers alot of the time but that’s just one of many reasons we got awarded HRC myself and the school can’t leave him unsupervised they wrote me a number of supportive letters and senco filled in the someone who knows the child part due to unpredictable and violent behaviours and he requires a lot of 1-1 support at nursery also and EHCP process has been started For him , DLA isn’t awarded just based on diagnosis or age ,,, it all depends on how much care attention supervision support and or prompting you have to give them which is different from the typical child of that age that dla is awarded from , not what is wrong with the child it’s about the extra care he requires which goes beyond the care of a child the same age hope this makes sense xx

Yes definitely makes sense! I can’t leave my child to play on his own either he also has no sense of danger. He’s the best climber going! But if he falls he will cry then do it again so always have to supervise him. Even going up the stairs I have to hold his hand! I’m just so worried I want it more than anything for him and for his future. How old is your little one? Xx

Bella2220 · 09/07/2024 20:08

Hey lovelies, congrats to everyone on their awards! And good luck to those still waiting!!

I got awarded HRC and LRM today, I need to tell UC however when I spoke to them today he didnt understand me very well, he said that I should have made him aware as soon as a change happened (so back in March) however I explained I didn’t know the decision until today but I don’t think he understood what was happening at all! What happens now he said he’s made the change but I can’t see anything on my journal he also asked if I’ve claimed carers which I didn’t because I thought it was done all under one? So now I’ve claimed carers via the gov website but I’m worried I’ve done the wrong thing! It’s all so confusing and he really wasn’t helpful at all!! Thank you all ❤️❤️

I got through this morning! She’s been awarded high rate care and low rate mobility, I’m so happy all the anxiety has been worth it! 2 years however I’m so happy she finally gets the help she needs ❤️ my scan date was 08/04 however it was made priority Thursday! I keep thinking they’ve made a mistake and they’ve looked at the wrong person haha!

How do you get it made priority?? My scan date was 15/03? X

You'll get a letter around 6 months before her 16th to ask if you want to be her appointee then youll get another letter inviting you to apply for pip from her 16th birthday (you have to wait till she 16 to get the forms they won't send out before) your then given 4or 5 weeks to send the forms back
The reason the dla is awarded longer is that it can take time for the pip to get awarded or that's what they told me
My daughter turned 16 on March 27th took 3 weeks to get her forms (had to call for a 2nd and 3rd copy to be sent) was returned withing a week around end April they got the forms
Had phone assessment which lasted 5 mins and they never actually booked it just called said I'd hear in around 8 weeks
4/5 weeks later got the letter she was awarded high care and low mobility (was only on mrc on dla) and that starts tomorrow with 1st payment on 1st August
Sorry didn't mean for that to be so long
But I found the pip process so much less stressful than the dla with my youngest which I did 6 weeks before the pip and pip was awarded in 7 ish weeks dla still waiting and on 15 weeks 4 days
