Hi! I'm going to be starting Slimming World again in January, I am signing up for a 12 week Countdown. I start a new job in January and know I will be working 12 hour shifts. Just wondered if anyone else is planning on starting then and if you fancied supporting each other here with meal ideas and moral support :) I have around 4.5-5st to lose and this time I am determined to do it! I've treated myself to a 1950's photoshoot as a Christmas present and want to use that along with feeling happier and healthier as motivation.

Oh just looked at the packet online and it's enough for one 9" base!

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 26/01/2022 17:58

Thanks all.

I'm joining group tomorrow! 😱

Still not sure if I have the headspace tbh.

Children are typically fussy children, will pick veg out of most things. They didn't really like any of the SW meals in the past so I ended up cooking SW for myself and DH and kids meals for them eg nuggets, pizza, fish fingers etc

ItWillBeDone · 26/01/2022 18:22

What about spaghetti bolognaise? With 5% fat mince. Blitz the sauce so no onions or other veggies are visible?

Casserole?

Roast dinner? Roasties done with fry light.

Yorkshire pudding wraps with chicken sausages? Carrots and spuds on the side.

lechatnoir · 27/01/2022 10:00

Roast veg pasta bake - I could live off this and as my children have got older I've gradually decreased the amount of veg blizting so now we have it quite chunky. I use about 2/3 of this sauce for the pasta bake and save some for pizza topping, lasagne, on chicken etc

Large tray of chopped mix veg - I always use 2 peppers & 2 onions plus sometimes courgette, celery, mushrooms etc. Add 4 or 5 unpeeled cloves of garlic, mix with a tablespoon of olive oil, salt and pepper and mixed herbs. Roast until starting to brown/crisp then add a few fresh tomatoes if you've got them, jar of passata & 2 tins of chopped toms, teaspoon of sugar and put back in the oven for another 20-30minutes whilst we cook the pasta. (I use a 500g bag). cook to al dente and save some of the cooking water and add to tomato sauce.
Use a blender to blitz the sauce as fine as you like, add the cooked pasta and it's done. I tend to take out a couple of portions for me so I can control the cheese on top but that's up to you.

The sauce serve 8+ so allow 1 syn per serving for oil/sugar.

What about (mild) curries? I've got a great Wagamana style katsu curry sauce that is basically hidden veg that we all love and can be done very SW friendly.

Hi there,
Can I join please? Lost a stone with SW after first baby then the day I got my award I found out I was pregnant Grin lost another stone and a half through calorie counting but I've still got a way to go and I do find SW works if I stick to it. I've done several hit workouts this week but I've only lost a pound so feeling a bit disappointed. I've got a few holidays coming up and just don't want to feel crap about myself any more. I read a blog on the app today and it said about hidden syns from kids meals- a crisp here, a bit of a nugget there and know I can definitely be guilty of this and I also drink a lot of coffees. Last night I had the Aldi slim well chicken saag and that was delicious so might stock up on these for easy meals. Really want to get a few more pounds off!

EllaSaturday · 27/01/2022 15:48

well I lost 2 lbs in this week. Quite surprised as I had a bit of a bad end to the week after losing my elderly cat.
I will take the weight loss and go on and hopefully replicate it next week without stuffing myself with chocolate!

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 27/01/2022 19:25

Right I've joined group tonight. Time to face the music. I weigh 13 stone 9.5. ☹️☹️😱😱 I literally weigh more than my husband. Onwards and downwards! Although I have a meal out at the weekend so not the best start!

Wilma55 · 27/01/2022 19:36

It's only one meal out of 21 so don't worry too much.

mrsmacmc · 27/01/2022 22:27

Maintain for me this week. It is star week so I'm happy enough with this. Hopefully drop off for next week!

sageandbasil · 30/01/2022 23:00

I'm 9 weeks PP and starting tomorrow I'm so excited to get back on it. I'm EBF so think you get different HEX but will see tomorrow! Nervous about the cooking cos it's a lot of prep but will try my best!

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 31/01/2022 08:22

Welcome @sageandbasil are you going to a group? I have previously done sw when breastfeeding and got extra healthy extras and then as your baby starts solids etc it goes down.

I find it alot of prep too but am trying to do a few things on the weekends

lechatnoir · 31/01/2022 11:14

Urgh a 2nd week staying the same Sad. I'm going to have a look over my week and see other than 2 quite big nights out if there was anything else I can do as one month in and only 4lbs is quite demotivating.

How's everyone else doing so far? Do any of you do speed days? I'm thinking of adding a few this week to try and boost my weight loss.

ItWillBeDone · 01/02/2022 21:44

@Plantsandpuddlesuits Your starting weight is exactly the same as mine! How is it going so far?

@lechatnoir How frustrating. I've had a few days when I haven't used all my syns. But I haven't managed any speed days. Are you tracking everything? I have stopped and fear the results will show on the scales.

How tall are you @ItWillBeDone I'm only 5 foot.

It's weigh day tomorrow, not really expecting to have lost any weight as although I've stuck to plan the weekend wasn't very on plan with meals out wine and cocktails. But I feel less bloated so who knows.

How are you finding it?

ItWillBeDone · 02/02/2022 22:15

@Plantsandpuddlesuits I'm 5ft 4, so a little taller but not a lot. I've struggled the past week. Still lost one lonely pound though and every pound counts. Good luck tomorrow.

Whiterose23 · 03/02/2022 08:09

I fell completely off plan after my weekend celebrating my daughters birthday. I didn’t make weigh in as stayed late at work. Did I really need to stay late, probably not but I didn’t want to weigh.

I’ve now given my head a shake as I really need to stick to this and have been back on plan since Friday. Weigh in is later so fingers crossed I’ve managed a maintain.

@ ItWillBeDone you’re so right, those 1lbs add up. I need to remember this over the next few months.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 03/02/2022 16:45

I started slimming world nearly 2 weeks ago. My first week i lost 6lbs. Just 2st 3lbs to go!

I have annoyingly already got to target once but put on weight again over lockdown.

I'm loving the app now and that you can scan everything! Makes it so much easier to track all the syns.

Tonights dinner is Bolognase risotto from pinch of nom. I much prefer their recipes to the slimming world ones! Everything ive made so far has been a huge success with the girls!

ItWillBeDone · 03/02/2022 19:02

@Whiterose23 Can you make it to another weigh in this week? Wondered if that would help motivate you?

Well done @nocutsnobuttsnococonuts, if only it was easy to keep going at that rate!

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 03/02/2022 19:29

Just had my first week weigh in and have lost 1.5 pounds am absolutely delighted with that! The consultant was disappointed though and said in front of the group it's a low loss which I was a bit annoyed at and she said I need to eat more free foods eg make my own mashed potatoes rather than synning ready made mash but frankly I don't have time / energy for that. I'm delighted with my loss and that's what matters

mrsmacmc · 03/02/2022 21:55

@Plantsandpuddlesuits that's quite Hmm of your consultant! Jeeez!!!! Well done with your loss ⭐️

I lost 3.5lbs this week and got my 1/2 stone award tonight, only 2.5 to go!!

Wilma55 · 04/02/2022 10:40

@Plantsandpuddlesuits that's very unprofessional of your consultant. She could have asked if YOU were disappointed but 1 to 2 lb a week is the recommended loss. Well done, you have to make the plan work for you. I'm really bad about speed food, salad is not my thing!

LeftyLou · 04/02/2022 12:28

@Plantsandpuddlesuits that is disgusting. That is a fantastic weight loss. Your consultant needs to be sacked! There will be people who go to her group and take that to heart and think she is right.

She is at the least wrong and needs to go back to her training and the most a bully.

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 04/02/2022 19:11

Can anyone give me any ideas for breakfast tomorrow please?

Going shopping and to Costa so want a decent breakfast before I go so don't fall Into the trap of buying a cake at Costa etc.

If I have porridge then that's used up by hex b for the day and I'm planning pitta or a ww wrap for dinner which is also a hex b.

Fruit and yogurt just leaves me hungry and dizzy I think it's too much sugar.

I've been loving egg wraps this week filled with mushrooms and spinach but we have none of those ingredients in.

Hmm I'm going to have to syn it aren't I? Seems a waste of syns especially on a weekend 😂

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 04/02/2022 19:23

@itmustbedone I wish I could lose at that rate every week! Be lucky to lose 1lb this week!

@plantsandpuddlesuits I find breakfast tricky too. I usually go for egg muffins so literally whatever veg I have mixed up with egg, put in cupcake tin and put in the oven. Or my other go to is slimming world chips with baked beans, mushrooms and a friend egg.

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 04/02/2022 19:33

Yes I really like those muffins for lunch I do mine with cottage cheese aswell.. but no eggs or veg in hence me going shopping
