Hi! I'm going to be starting Slimming World again in January, I am signing up for a 12 week Countdown. I start a new job in January and know I will be working 12 hour shifts. Just wondered if anyone else is planning on starting then and if you fancied supporting each other here with meal ideas and moral support :) I have around 4.5-5st to lose and this time I am determined to do it! I've treated myself to a 1950's photoshoot as a Christmas present and want to use that along with feeling happier and healthier as motivation.

I would love to join in the chat.I have about three stone to lose , if I can.I bought a count down about six weeks ago and so have another six weeks to go.I find attending group better for me,I go to a lovely group where everyone is so supportive.

For those who have never done SW before, Go for it!

StellaGibson118 · 01/01/2022 19:15

imp2007 · 01/01/2022 21:24

vanillacupcake19 · 02/01/2022 10:11

Joined on line. First weigh in Tuesday 😮

heelforheelandtoefortoe · 02/01/2022 21:17

Well today was a fuck up as I think I underestimated the syns in some treats I had. oh well. need to do better tomorrow.

lechatnoir · 02/01/2022 21:26

Hi everyone,

Weighed today: 12st 7 interim target of 11 stone 7 AND managed a run/walk (nearly bloody killed me!) for my RED January daily exercise challenge.

I spent today planning & typing up a full week meal plan & made up a daily tracker which I've printed and ready to fill in as I go (writing everything down is the only way for me) plus made a huge batch of speed soup which was my absolute saviour last time. I usually make a few meal size portions to freeze for those days when I'm struggling but otherwise have it for lunch sometimes with some grated HEA cheese or a dollop of FF yogurt & sprinkle of cayenne. I usually blend one portion to a thick smooth soup and have with HEB bread and I also add curry flavours or chill and have it on a jacket potato with salad or with rice for dinner. Very versatile and highly recommend getting into it!

lechatnoir · 02/01/2022 21:28

@heelforheelandtoefortoe I'd always say check syns before you eat. Have you gone totally over just not saved as many as you'd hoped? Either way draw a line under it and one day doesn't mean the end.

heelforheelandtoefortoe · 02/01/2022 21:36

I thought a treat size bounty was 4 syns but it seems it is more. I've had three today cause I love bounties. but looking online its 7 syns??

StellaGibson118 · 03/01/2022 21:20

If its the ones around 30g and 140 cals then yes theyre 7 syns. A rough estimate for stuff with no nutritional value is 1 syn per 20 cals but always best to check.

StellaGibson118 · 03/01/2022 21:22

Plan your day in advance, put it in the planner the night before. No surprises then. Use the barcode scanner too

lechatnoir · 03/01/2022 21:41

Absolutely agree about planning your day in advance. I know my 3 meals tomorrow will cost me 7 syns so I've got 8 left to play with but I'm going out for dinner Friday so trying to save 5 a day to cover a couple of drinks. Not sure if this is strictly allowed but done only occasionally & otherwise super strict it has never affected my losses.

Crispsandchocolate4 · 04/01/2022 15:58

I'm going back to group tonight I'm one of those people who joined years ago and am heavier now than I've ever been id give anything to be the weight I was when I first thought I had to join and loose weight!! I'm going to start with a 6 week countdown then maybe go for the 12!

MissMogwai · 05/01/2022 16:48

Count me in. I'll officially join a group next week as we're isolating at the moment, but I have started to eat better in the meantime.

I lost almost 2 stone up to the first lockdown then it all went to shit. I need to lose 3.5 stone now 😩

I'm working from home now, diet has been terrible plus not exercising at all really. I look frumpy, old and nackered - when I'd lost that weight I slept better, felt full of energy and healthy! I was swimming 3 times a week which made a huge difference to my fitness.

I want to get back that feeling as well as fitting in to my size 12 clothes again!

EllaSaturday · 06/01/2022 12:56

I signed back up again after 2 years - had put on part of the weight I had lost before and my clothes are ridiculously uncomfortable.
Am now 12 stone 3 (was a bit shocked there) and need to get back under 11 stone, ideally 10 stone 5.
Dug out a few recipe books I still had for some nice lunch ideas that are quick and easy.

Crispsandchocolate4 · 06/01/2022 15:23

I have just received a food diary I bought from a company called fabulous planning its brilliant and really helping me keep track on what I've eaten in a day as I find the ones in the welcome pack of slimming world are too small to write everything down I 100% recommend!

troppibambini6 · 06/01/2022 18:27

Can I join you?
Re joined yesterday after having November and December off due to Covid and well just because!
Two full days on plan and it feels good to be back in control.

Zazu44 · 06/01/2022 20:12

Just joined group tonight, nearly cried at weigh in, be nice to have support

This is pretty much me too - same timescales same weight. Depressing isn't it Sad.

Back on it and hello everyone that's new. I also struggle with the SW daily planner so created my own that I stick on the fridge and religiously write everything down to keep on track. Day 5 and going well - feeling motivated and determined this time and looking forward to a summer without boiling and hiding behind too many clothes!
I had a delicious quick and easy dinner last night tasted just like a takeaway and only 1.5 syns for oyster sauce and oil:

Pre-cook portion of rice (I use 1 cup
Of uncooked rice for 4 of us) and often make this the day after another rice dish so just make double.
Stir fry 3 whisked eggs in hot oil & mix in fish sauce and soy sauce. Set aside
Stir fry garlic, ginger & chilli ad veggies of Your choice (I had peas, s/corn, peppers and spinach)
Add some protein (cooked
Chicken or prawn)
Add the cooked rice plus soy sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce, squeeze of lime and if you've got it, fresh coriander. Top with spring onion and serve with a side of greens.

Don't worry we've all been there. It's horrible when you face the numbers but maybe this is the wake up call you need to deal with it. Keep posting
troppibambini6 · 07/01/2022 10:10

Today is going to be tough. Ds is ill and I've been up most of the night throwing up. I find it really hard to not reach for sugar when tired.
Must stay strong!!

Pandora984 · 08/01/2022 21:01

I completed my first week today and have lost 4lbs! Sooo happy as I did have a couple of blips mid-week. So I've gone and got myself a food diary so I can see where I can make changes. Heaps of speed foods with my meals seems to be the way for me at the moment.
We've got this! 💪🏻

Whiterose23 · 09/01/2022 09:26

Morning, please can I join in? I restarted my journey last week. I need to lose 4.5-5 stone to get time back to my ‘happy’ weight. I’m slightly daunted by the prospect but we have a holiday booked in August so I need to get my act together.
Well done on your loss this week Pandora984

heelforheelandtoefortoe · 09/01/2022 09:32

3.5lbs lost this week :)

Pandora984 · 09/01/2022 12:25

Thank you @Whiterose23 and of course everyone is welcome, the more support we can provide each other the better.
Well done @heelforheelandtoefortoe :)
