Starting the 2019 support thread for those on SW or those thinking of starting.

Let's introduce ourselves. I'm Groovee. In 2016 I was told to lose weight so I could have Gynae surgery. I joined SW in Jan 2017. Have lost 4.5st on SW 5.5st since 2016. Have been at target for 9 months now. Long may it continue being at target and staying there.

Have my new members pack and look forward to the challenges of 2019. I need to look for some new recipes.

Strangerthongs I'm in the same situation I don't eat cheese either so I'm just going to have the odd milky coffee if I fancy it if not I will just leave it.
I eats lots of Greek yogurt so I'm not concerned health wise.
I don't see the point in extra calories if I don't need it.

noodlenosefraggle · 04/01/2019 16:49

No it's only 1 hex b and 2 a. There's only milk and cheese on it. I suppose there's nothing stopping you just doing the old plan but it's still 1 hex b unless you do SP on the old plan.

Groovee · 04/01/2019 16:53

@strangerthongs it's only 1b. There is only Cheese and Milk on the A choices.

I used to measure out my milk and put it in a bottle for work.

ALemonyPea · 04/01/2019 18:24

There used to be a chocolate milk you could have as an A choice, think it was some sort of milk substitute though. Cant seem to find it (or remember it)

noodlenosefraggle · 04/01/2019 18:38

I think it's gone now. When almond milk was 1 litre, I'd never be able v to v drink it, so I'd have it warm with 2 tsp choc shot. That makes a nice hot chocolate and only 1 syn so you could do that with skimmed milk

ALemonyPea · 04/01/2019 19:42

Oooo yes, hot choc! There's a good idea for milk.

I've not a bit of an SP day today, as can't really stomach anything, still feel like crap. Have probably had less than 1000 calls and no A choice. Not a good start to my diet really, but not disheartened and hoping I feel better tomorrow. Already in bed.

juneybean · 04/01/2019 20:26

First day back on it and already got a headache ugh but I've done my healthy shop and looking forward to some homemade food this weekend.

What's everyone cooking this weekend?

Groovee · 04/01/2019 22:20

@ALemonyPea flavoured mills are gone. Just unsweetened and plain almond milk at 400mls now.

My bestie was in town... had chocolate fudge cake after a healthy steak pie 🤦🏻‍♀️ ah well it was one meal out of 21.

Burgers for tomorrow night but I am considering pizza instead on a wholemeal pita bread. And a roast on Sunday before Dd goes back to uni.

Groovee · 04/01/2019 22:26

Have worked out 142mls SS milk, 55g of reduced fat cheddar and 1 table spoon of cornflour makes mac cheese at 1 syn. 😳

We did the spaghetti carbonara last night from Pinch of Nom, it was beautiful!

Tonight it was meatballs and pasta, there was loads left so having the leftovers tomorrow as a pasta bake Grin

I am so loving having the second A choice!

lokijet · 05/01/2019 01:17

Talk to me about overnight oats - what yoghurt do people use (particularly now muller lights not free)? Im not big fan of natural yoghurt and need something to make it both filling and edible! using chopped apple as my fruit atm

Groovee · 05/01/2019 06:57

Natural yoghurt with a tiny bit of sweetener and vanilla essence. Or else lidl skyr which I don't syn as I did lose weight and have remained at target. If I felt I was a problem I would syn it. But I'm aware it's my choice.

Hello may i join too? Im in the alot to loose thread but i thought the more support the better 😊

Im rejoining group on Tuesday after a break since November (i couldn't afford christmas and slimming world)
Ill put how much i weigh after group as i don't trust my scales at home! (We have a wonky floor i get such a range of readings)

I really wanted to loose 3 stone last year and i did in a way loosing it/putting it back on loosing it/putting it back on🤦‍♀️ this year i must be better.

In total id like to loose 5st but 3st by June would be amazing as i have a big birthday and would like to feel better about myself!

Groovee · 05/01/2019 10:13

Hi @MummatoaMunchkin I lost 3st in 2017 in 25 weeks so it is doable. I've lost 5.5st and kept it off for 9 months. I did 2 countdowns in that time and 1 week where I paid. It just meant because I had paid upfront I had to do it.

Had a night out last night. Really enjoyed it as my bestie was in town. 100% on plan until Tuesday now. Thinking a subway salad for lunch.

LSOTW · 05/01/2019 11:55

Hi all ! Joining SW on the breastfeeding plan - my body doesn't seem to have got the memo that breastfeeding helps you lose weight .... hoping I can figure out some quick and easy meals that work around a new born and look forward to hearing some success stories :)?

HazelnutRaspberryRoulade · 05/01/2019 14:01

Hi everyone!

@LSOTW I really rate making big batches of stew or curry in the slow cooker, which is so quick in terms of actual prep, and then splitting them into tubs to freeze. I also like making big quantities of rich tomato sauce which goes with so many things.

I managed to break a really precious family heirloom yesterday morning and felt so sad all day, but instead of shoving biscuits in my mouth I went to a lunchtime HIIT class instead which really did help. Quite proud of that.

Visiting friends this weekend so I think it’ll have to be on plan where I can - they’re not known for their sw friendly foods!

Yearofthemum · 05/01/2019 16:58

Amazing weight loss, Groovee.

I'm looking forward to group next week, as I want to understand why they think this new plan is better.

Woopwoop1 · 05/01/2019 16:58

I have just come back from completing week 8 of couch to 5k. It was really hard as I hadn’t been doing it very much over Christmas. I am back on it though and need to remind myself that 8 weeks ago I couldn’t even run upstairs.

I have bought myself a refillable water bottle for work as I know I don’t drink enough water so hopefully that may help.

I am going to a party this evening and have offered to drive so that I can’t drink. I am going to have my tea before I go to avoid undoing all my good work at the buffet table ( well that’s the plan)!

I feel full of positive thoughts, fingers crossed it works.

boats16 · 05/01/2019 18:15

Hi all, I lost 2 stone before a holiday last year with the help of everyone. I was hoping I could join you all again ?????

shecamefromgreece · 05/01/2019 18:18

I've just made a Sw friendly chicken pad Thai it was really really nice.
I will definitely make it again very quick and easy even dh loved it and he's not a massive fan of noodles.
If anyone wants the recipe let me know and I can put it up after I've put the kids to bed.
