Starting the 2019 support thread for those on SW or those thinking of starting.

Let's introduce ourselves. I'm Groovee. In 2016 I was told to lose weight so I could have Gynae surgery. I joined SW in Jan 2017. Have lost 4.5st on SW 5.5st since 2016. Have been at target for 9 months now. Long may it continue being at target and staying there.

Have my new members pack and look forward to the challenges of 2019. I need to look for some new recipes.

Can anyone help??
Primula cheese is this still EX A or does it have to be syned?
Where can I find the syn value for this? I have been searching the book and the net and can not find it.
Thank you x

WineNotTea · 03/01/2019 14:06

Thanks for the welcome @Groovee

I've got copies of loads of recipes in a folder but only ever cook the same half dozen or so!!! I might try to change that this year Grin

I wish I understood why the extra A this year. Does anyone know? Is it the extra calcium or the fat?

I'm considering not bothering with it, as I always use a natural yogurt with fat in it (onken biopot). Possibly that's equivalent, and I'd like not to have to syn it.

noodlenosefraggle · 03/01/2019 16:19

I think it's the extra calcium and fat, as it fills you up more. I'm already finding it's making cooking easier as I can put cheese in meals and still have milk in tea and coffee so that may be another reason. I'm getting my new books today so am looking forward to having a good read!

CantWaitToRetire · 03/01/2019 16:30

Hi all. I joined SW last April and have lost 2.5 stone since. I'm about half way to my goal weight. I must admit though, that I've gone a bit mad over Christmas and have put a few pounds back on. It was almost like I needed that psychological switch for 1 Jan though because just like turning on a light, I've gone back on plan, helped no doubt by the fact I was feeling very bloated and piggy! First weigh in of the new year tonight so will be interesting to see what damage has been done.

This year I'm hoping to to fit in some more exercise to help things along. Currently I walk my dog for around 50mins-1hr every other day (take turns with DH), but I'd like to start swimming to tone up all over.

Groovee · 03/01/2019 17:42

Mmm cheeseburger pasta. So yummy.

Back to burlesque tonight. I'm so needing toned up post December.

I feel like I'm getting back into the swing of it now after 6 days off at Xmas and 1lb gain. Hoping to get back to being a consisitant looser! Starting with body magic aswell, I'm doing yoga with Adrienne every day (or there abouts) this month and also planning 3 walks.

Youcandothis365 · 03/01/2019 20:36

Hi everyone!

I hope it's ok for me to join.

I lost around 3 1/2 stone for my wedding a couple of years ago. I've piled this weight (and significantly more) back on so I am now 5 stone from my target weight.

The amount I have to loose feels incredibly daunting, but I've given myself a kick and I rejoined SW last night!

juneybean · 03/01/2019 20:55

Eeek just had my weigh in after Christmas, 7lbs on altogether , 3.5lbs this week and last week. Back on it tomorrow once I've been shopping.

Woopwoop1 · 03/01/2019 21:07

Can I join you?

I have just under a stone and a half to go. I have already lost a stone. I don’t go to class and am doing it at home so if I have to tell you my gains it will hopefully keep me on track.

Do you think it matters if I carry on with the old book? Part of me thinks it will be ok as I was losing weight with it anyway.

ALemonyPea · 03/01/2019 21:15

Yeah you should be fine following the old plan, it's not like it'll make a difference if you're actively losing.

HazelnutRaspberryRoulade · 03/01/2019 21:18

Good day here. Went to a lunch time gym class which was hard work but made me feel all buzzy and awake in the afternoon. And I made really delicious Chinese sticky pork with egg fried rice and stir fry veg for dinner this evening!

Groovee · 03/01/2019 21:30

Welcome to everyone who has joined us.

I didn't stay to meeting this week - have I missed a HEA change?!

Welcome new starters get meal planning and shopping for the week and you'll be fine after the first few days Smile

Is anyone else doing RED January? It's a daily run/exercise challenge in aid of MIND (I'm donating £10 any day I don't exercise Shock) Day 3 and my legs are SORE so I'm swapping my planned run for a walk tomorrow but it's been good to get out and not having the 'I'll do it tomorrow instead' excuse has been a great motivator. It's not too late to join if you fancy it Grin

WillowUfgood · 03/01/2019 23:20

Hi all!

I'm a lurker, post very occasionally. I've been with SW since Jan 2016 and am 4.5lbs away from losing 7 stone! A few pounds over that and I'll be at target Smile

Lost 2lbs this week, after gaining 3.5lbs over Christmas, which I'm pleased with. I was a little concerned about the extra A choice so made sure I did a diary in case something went awry Grin I could blame the extra cheese!

Groovee · 04/01/2019 07:54

@Mymadworld it's all in your new pack. 2a's choices daily. Some milk have been removed or decreased and soft cheeses are no longer an a choice.

Can I come and join you all again. I started SW in June 2016 and lost 6 stone (7 stone from my heaviest) I went on holiday in October, a cruise in December and then all the Christmas food and I have put on 1 stone. Absolutely disgusted with myself, but also finding it very hard to get my head back into it. I start off the day with all good intentions, but slip as the day goes on and yesterday I ate half a box of chocolates just because they were there! Blush

I need to join here again and be accountable between my weigh ins. Once I am on it again I know I will lose the weight as it does work for me. I just need a kick up my too big bum!

I have the new book, but not looked at it yet as we are going through it in group next Tuesday. Have you all changed to the new one already?

Groovee · 04/01/2019 09:04

Welcome back @PositiveAttitude. I have changed over and lost 2.5lbs this week and that was with 2 meals off plan.

Welcome back PA.

I've had a crap night. Impromptu evening at my sisters, ended up getting KFC, I had a rice box to be good 😇 but have spent half the night throwing up. Everyone else is fine, so can only assume it was the rice. Feeling rough this morning, but did stay on plan yesterday. Hoping to continue.

I definitely think writing everything down helps to keep track of HEs and syns, also speed etc. My main issue is not drinking enough, so I have a sports bottle and make sure I have at least three of those a day.

shecamefromgreece · 04/01/2019 10:31

Good morning gah I feel so rough this morning it's really ramped up so I'm on the sofa with honey and lemon and kids running wild still in their pjs!
Got bloody loads to do today as well.
The day before yesterday I made a beef bourginion and left it on the fridge over night to have for dinner yesterday my god it was delicious! Will definitely make it again it did have a small glass of red in it but made four portions so only a couple of syns per portion if that.
My food shop is coming tomorrow so not much in I've got some chicken thighs so i might make a curry.

shecamefromgreece · 04/01/2019 10:31

Welcome back PA and I hope you feel better soon lemonyThanks

WineNotTea · 04/01/2019 12:43

Hi all,

One tip that really works for me is writing down everything that I eat and drink. I've bought one of those generic food diaries off Ebay which is my bible. It's really useful as you can plan weekly menus, log favourites and shopping list etc. It's much better than the SW weekly planner and a great resource to reference back to if you find you are struggling at all. I keep it in my bag at all times!!

I also gave up bread and alcohol for at least the first month which definitely helped as well. I'm on dry January at the moment so hopefully when I go back to class on Monday eve I can get right back into the swing of things.

strangerthongs · 04/01/2019 15:52

I have a question re: the new HEa

we can have two HEa and two HEb....right?

But I don't like cheese.

If I have SS milk in my wheetabix (2HEb) and a little bit of SS milk in my average 4 cups of tea at work, would that be the two HEa do you think or would I be able to take more?

I can't measure milk at work.

I'm almost certain that I am not eating (drinking?) enough HEa

What else counts as HEa besides milk and cheese?
