Starting the 2019 support thread for those on SW or those thinking of starting.

Let's introduce ourselves. I'm Groovee. In 2016 I was told to lose weight so I could have Gynae surgery. I joined SW in Jan 2017. Have lost 4.5st on SW 5.5st since 2016. Have been at target for 9 months now. Long may it continue being at target and staying there.

Have my new members pack and look forward to the challenges of 2019. I need to look for some new recipes.

I got to target with slimming world and have put it all back on again after a crappy 2018. Had a car accident and struggled with several other aspects of life so am looking forward to starting back and getting back to target. I am so disgusted at myself but im determined to make 2019 my year

Mymadworld · 02/01/2019 10:11

Just starting to meal plan for the rest of the week:
Off work still so breakfast will be some sort of egg on toast with mushrooms or spinach (btw, I've just swopped from Warburton's small wholemeal loaf to Hovis for my HEB - more substantial & tastierSmile)

I'm making a couple of soups today (roast butternut squash plus mulligatawny -lovely Indian spiced veg soup on the sw website)

Struggling with evening meals a bit so far:
Quorn meatball pasta
Turkey curry
Chinese banquet rice
Chicken katsu curry

shecamefromgreece · 02/01/2019 12:05

Good morning my plan was to rejoin tonight and then start tomorrow but I've woken up this morning and decided to just start today as I actually can't face eating anymore rubbish food.
I'm also coming down with a cold or some kind of lurgy so I'm hoping some nice healthy food will help.
I'm winging it a bit today though as I've not done a sw shop yet so I might be a bit light on speed but I'm thinking it's better that mince pies for breakfast!
So today is going to go something like this
B-coffee
L-baked potato with bacon and beans and salad
D-spagbol with with what ever extra veg I can find chucked in!

I was looking for some new things to cook on line last night and I'm going to have a go at a sw friendly pad Thai, jerk chicken with rice and peas and a slow cooker pea and ham soup.

Just come from a weigh in and my gift to myself of two weeks off over Christmas has cost me a great deal in terms of weight gain. I was a stone from target previously and now I'm 1.5 from it 😬😩

I expected to put a couple of pounds back on, but not that much. It'll take me to mid February in all likelihood to claw that half stone back. Ah well.

kaytola · 02/01/2019 12:54

Another one here back on it! Rejoined last night and my weigh in was as expected really considering all the stodge I've eaten over Christmas. Hoping to lose 7lbs this month. Good luck everyone.

HazelnutRaspberryRoulade · 02/01/2019 12:57

I was given some pots of JD seasoning for Christmas - I’m going to try out the first pot making Cajun chicken this evening so we’ll see how it goes.

Pipsqueak11 · 02/01/2019 13:08

Omg !!! Managed to put on 7lb in 2 weeks😮
Back on track today / fingers crossed I can shift it quickly!

Groovee · 02/01/2019 13:11

Am just making broccoli and bacon soup for lunch.

Wanted seabass for tea but could only get salmon. Tomorrow is cheeseburger pasta and Friday will be a steak salad as meeting friends.

Need to meal plan for next week. Thinking chicken Balti, spaghetti Bolognese, turkey burgers, carribean pepperpot stew, stuck for one more thing.

My jeans felt tight this morning but I remembered they were new and it would be the first time I washed them last week and they're always tight first time.

Was good in costa. The others had lattes and cakes, I had a Diet Pepsi and apple and orange.

Pipsqueak-snap. At least we can say we enjoyed it and that even the pagans feasted at Christmas 😄

FiveNightsAtMummys · 02/01/2019 16:08

First weigh in since Xmas eve (so 9 days), I've had 6 days off and I've gained 1lb. I'm really pleased with that as I've barely moved this last 9 days either with having cold.
Back on it 100% now, looking forward to Aldi 5% beef burgers for tea.

Yearofthemum · 02/01/2019 16:28

Groovee, how about risotto or something with roasted butternut squash instead of potatoes?

Does anyone know whether there is a members summary of the changes? I have my new book but can only easily identify the extra HEA, without reading through both, side by side.

Groovee · 02/01/2019 17:12

Risotto is a good shout. I really don't like butternut squash.. it's too sweet. Have tried numerous times.

Haven't come across a summary. But beans and peas no longer have a P. Yoghurts are synned if flavoured. Soft cheese is no longer a HE. And Heinz soups have lower syns.

What’s different on the new plan? My group is Saturday morning so I’d like to kick start tomorrow.

Yearofthemum · 02/01/2019 17:59

Thank you Groovee. Luckily I like other pulses 😄.

You could also add a fish fish for that particular week, as there isn't one.

Groovee · 02/01/2019 19:34

2 healthy extra A choices.

Yearofthemum · 02/01/2019 19:57

Goingtottown, baked beans aren't P but other beans are.

ALemonyPea · 03/01/2019 11:48

I'm back, if you don't see me for a few days, hunt me down on here and drag me back to this thread!

I lost 7 stone in 14 months up til January 2018, and then had some health issues, where I reached for my age old crutch, food, for comfort. Was doing well to lose the couple of stone I'd gained, and then had an awful November/December after an operation and health news.

Went back to group today, and I am disgusted in myself. I need to do this, I can do this, I will do this. I don't want to be lying on thenoperation table in a few months time the size I am.

Excited for the little changes on the plan, 2 A choices = all the cheeses as I don't drink milk.

@Groovee, thank you for thinking of me
@Emwithme, congratulations on your baby Matilda. So chuffed for you.

Welcome to the newbies just starting on SW, it's a piss easy plan if you know what you're doing. No silly tweaks or gallons of muller lights needed.

shecamefromgreece · 03/01/2019 11:55

Lemonypea you are still here I was asking groovee about you I used to be on this thread ages ago under another name and you were so inspirational!!
You've got this you've done it before and you can do it again!!
And I remember em too congratulations on your new baby what a beautiful name Thanks

shecamefromgreece · 03/01/2019 11:56

Sorry should have said I used to be buttwing you probably won't remember though it was ages ago!!

Groovee · 03/01/2019 12:02

I remember Buttwing.

Have lost 2.5lb this week. That was 19 on plan meals and 2 off plan and 2 a choices daily 🎉. Back to Tuesday evening weigh ins from next week. So I will take what the scales say on Tuesday and go from there. Trying to get to my diamond award in March.

shecamefromgreece · 03/01/2019 12:05

Wow groovee that's some achievement at this time of year!! Well done Smile

shecamefromgreece · 03/01/2019 12:06

Oh and nice to be remembered Grin

ALemonyPea · 03/01/2019 12:23

I remember you Butt 😁

Think I might make broccoli and Stilton soup tomorrow, seeing as I can have lots of it now.

Need to do a proper shop as wel, as not been able to get to shops much with the DC being off and practically living in pyjamas.

WineNotTea · 03/01/2019 14:01

Hi all,

Please can I join? I'm going back to group next Monday. I lost over 2 stone last year but 10lbs has crept back on (since June) and I'd like to get rid of it again plus a bit more.

I'm a bit samey when on SW but it suits me, I tend to stick to (for main meals)
Various different curries
Spag bol
Chilli
Devilled Chicken
Basically anything that is pretty much one pot, has a sauce, is nice and spicy and easy to make!
All with loads of veg.

I struggle with lunches but found a great tuna and pasta dish in a SW mag a few years ago that's really easy to make and very filling.

Groovee · 03/01/2019 14:03

Welcome @WineNotTea

I tend to be a bit samey too. Always looking for new recipes to try though.
