Starting the 2019 support thread for those on SW or those thinking of starting.

Let's introduce ourselves. I'm Groovee. In 2016 I was told to lose weight so I could have Gynae surgery. I joined SW in Jan 2017. Have lost 4.5st on SW 5.5st since 2016. Have been at target for 9 months now. Long may it continue being at target and staying there.

Have my new members pack and look forward to the challenges of 2019. I need to look for some new recipes.

Added fry light to my shop as that seems to be a staple

Satonloo · 31/12/2018 09:20

Hi All,

I am going to be starting SW when kids are back at school. Thanks for starting this thread.

Dramaticmuch · 31/12/2018 09:49

Hi, can anyone tell me how much unsweetened almond milk I can have as Healthy Extra A in the new pack? Also, is it true that we now have two HEA and one HEB? Ta!

Groovee · 31/12/2018 10:55

400ml almond milk. Yes it's 2 a choices and 1 b choice.

@GarbageBell you'll need to syn the ryvita and Philadelphia. Your porridge would take up your b choice. Philadelphia is no longer an a choice. But you could wrap laughing cow triangles up in ham or turkey for a snack.

Went for the WI earlier and I've put on 4 lbs across 2 weeks that have included my birthday as well as Christmas so not as bad as I expected. We're meeting some friends for lunch today but I can make sensible choices I think.

Was given the new pack so I'll have a proper read later. DH is back to work on Weds so I'll get into a proper food optimising frame of mind then.

Hi I’m Debbie

I don’t often get time to post but I always lurk and catch up in this thread. I’ve lost over 15 stone with SlimmingWorld. Joined in April 2016, reached target in September and been maintaining since then. Put 7lb on in two weeks over Christmas so I’d like to lose that. Feeling refreshed with the new books etc.

I had to make a commitment to myself and the plan, stick to it as much as possible and this is now my lifestyle and way of eating. I’ve took loads of photos and my measurements and also shared lots on social media. These are the things that have kept me motivated as well as keeping thing fresh and exciting and trying new foods and new ways of cooking.

Remember why you started, do it for yourself and never give up x

Hi all I joined sw in August and lost my first stone relatively easily until I went on holiday in October and have been losing the same 2 lbs ever since.

Have allowed myself to enjoy Christmas then getting back on it by the end of the week.

I don't understand how the new rules work, how can you potentially have another 120 calories of cheese and still lose weight.

Dramaticmuch · 31/12/2018 12:55

Thanks @Groovee

Groovee · 31/12/2018 13:44

That's not bad @latedecember1963, I was the same birthday and Christmas 6lb on.

@juneybean when I did SW back in the red and green days they had introduced an extra a choice back then. I also remember reading that calcium helps aid weight loss. The weeks I started target plan, I kept losing weight with the extra healthy extras. So who knows how the human body works. I've food optimised on the new plan this week, so it will be interesting to see what happens with my losses this week.

Well I've ended up off plan..blue cheese (altho I could prob count some as my he) and a slice of Christmas cake and some walkers max crisps (the big bag) and a few lattes (tassimo ones so low syns). I have planned to have tomorrow off..then weds is weigh day so will face the music and be 100%

Tobermory · 01/01/2019 01:37

Hi all, glad I’ve found the new thread.
I joined SW at the end of August and have lost 2stine 3lb... though probably should use the past tense, I HAD lost .
Going for a weigh in tomorrow, my first in a couple of weeks.
It’s going to be up - I know this. I’ve had a great Christmas and I’ve been off plan for the last week and a half though have run a few times ( and moved house and redecorated three rooms) so I’ll accept whatever damage tomorrow brings. I’m going to cut out the booze for a few weeks - all of January maybe?

whynot93 · 01/01/2019 09:25

Well here I am.. joining again on Wednesday. I did slimming world back in 2016 and hit target weight the week before Christmas. I managed to maintain target weight for over a year and half but 2018 it slowly all climbed back on! I'm 1.5 stone off my target weight again but if I'm honest 8.4 was hard to maintain and I hit the menopause.. so I'm going to set a realistic weight of 8.10 and I'm currently 9.12 (stepped on the scales this morning). We've had a wonderful Christmas full of food and drink but absolutely none of my clothes fit. So today is the start of my new journey. 🙌

Hi may I join you?
I'm rejoining tomorrow night after a bit of a break as I I was just messing around on the plan, obviously I'm now heavierBlush
I've named changed but used to be on this thread and remember you getting to target groovee, I also remember alemonypea doing fabulously well too. Is she still around?
You were both very inspirationalSmile

Bowbridge · 01/01/2019 22:10

Off plan last night but walked 12k steps today.

Made diet coke chicken today with the remnants from last night's drinks. Never usually have cola in the house. It went down very well with the whole family.

HazelnutRaspberryRoulade · 01/01/2019 23:27

I’m going to join you all if that’s ok - I lost about 20lbs a couple of years ago but about half of that has found its way back on, mostly in the last couple of months as a result of my honeymoon and all the inevitable Christmas enthusiasm! I’m aiming for a stone off initially, and then possibly another half stone after that. I’m only 5ft 2 and a few pounds here and there seem to make such a difference to my clothes fitting.

Trying to think of a friendly outfit for first day back at work tomorrow - and I’m booked into a body pump class tomorrow evening. Feeling very determined.

Mymadworld · 02/01/2019 00:15

5lbs on this week Shock. To be expected and glad I went as back on it today.

Groovee · 02/01/2019 07:21

Welcome @shecamefromgreece and @HazelnutRaspberryRoulade

Haven't seen @ALemonyPea for a wee while. She's always so helpful.

@Mymadworld Oops, you'll soon have that off.

I've just made a cheesecake. A full fat one... everyone else can have it and I'll do a wee quark one for me.

Weigh in tomorrow. After eating twice at family this week I probably used all my syns and more 🙈in those two meals.

Welcome newbies, you'll find lots of advice and encouragement on here.
I've realised that being busy isn't the same as being active so I've made myself a chart where I'm going to log my step count and Wii Fit minutes every day in January. Yesterday I did 2316 steps and 12 minutes on the Wii. Nowhere near the 10000 step daily target, so some work to be done there!

whynot93 · 02/01/2019 10:04

@latedecember1963 I'm in the same boat.. I've just put my Apple Watch on charge. I've been much less active since I learnt to drive and don't do nearly half what I once did in step count. Back to walking the school run as and when possible for me 🙌
