Half a pound off today - but that is over 2 weeks. It's really slow. Sad

Has anyone tried SW extra easy? I'm not entirely sure what it is but I heard someone talking about it and wondered if I should try it.

LouLou789 · 02/04/2019 15:06

Hi Kaitlin, well done on another loss, it’s annoying when it’s slow, but it’s all in the right direction. SP is when you only eat speed foods and protein foods plus your A and B. That means the only carbs would be your B. Plus 10 syns, it’s quite stringent. What do you think?

kaitlinktm · 02/04/2019 16:55

Might be worth a shot - maybe after Easter, or maybe for a few days in the week. It might speed things up a bit that's all. Isn't there an extra easy cookbook?

LouLou789 · 02/04/2019 19:03

Yes I think there is, but that’s not SP. Although most people seem to stick to the same few meals and mixing things up can help, too. This is a pic of a recent food plan for me, I do one every week, Of course when it gets to the day sometimes it has to be changed if stuff happens but I generally stick to it. As well as this I have fruit, then use my syns on wine (or fruit gums 🤣) dunno if it’s helpful?

LouLou789 · 02/04/2019 19:04

Well I can’t actually read that myself on here, you’d probably have to be on a laptop!

kaitlinktm · 03/04/2019 11:03

I did read it thanks Lou (on my laptop) and am impressed that you have different stuff for breakfast nearly every day - well, for most meals! I tend to have Ryvita for my HE and for the other HE it's all milk as I drink a lot of tea/coffee. I have something egg related nearly every morning - boiled eggs and asparagus today then yogurt and banana. On work days I don't have a lunch as such as I start just after lunch so I have a late breakfast and then a snack when I get home.

I notice you have a lot of salad so a lot of speed and I think this is an area where I am going wrong.

I got a new cookbook today - Pinch of Nom. Someone on the FB group recommended it - does anyone here have it?

LouLou789 · 03/04/2019 15:39

Not me, but a lot of people on the Facebook group have.

Anyone on here?

AllTheGlitter · 05/04/2019 13:07

Hi guys, I know you’re an established group but just wondering if I can join? I’m starting SW again tomorrow and HAVE to get some weight off! Can anyone tell me their favourite snacks/ lunches for work please?

kaitlinktm · 05/04/2019 15:48

Hi Glitter - welcome, the more the merrier!

How about a crustless quiche? You can have it cold or microwave it and if you cook it at night you can just take a slice to have with salad etc.

Also you can make soups - usually syn free - from most veg - and there are ideas on the website too.

I used to cook chicken legs to snackon but then I decided I only really like them hot. Sad I also have wafer thin ham in but I do tend to scoff all that down at once.

Don't forget fruit too!

Hopefully Lou will be on soon, I think she had some good ideas for lunches - baked potatoes and such.

LouLou789 · 06/04/2019 07:38

Hello Glitter, you are welcome!
Dunno if you have any heating facilities at work. Don’t rule out if Shots, they’re synned but think the tomato one is only 1 syn.

Other ideas: Heck chicken sausages, I cook a whole pack then freeze them in threes, tub of rice salad (you could cook some of the lower synned dried savoury rice, it would do for two portions) then add the usual chopped salad but also chick peas, or kidney beans, cooked meat or tuna?
Quiche is a great idea from Kaitlin. I’ve recently made 12 mini ones in muffin cases in a bun tin, needs 4 eggs, Ff cottage cheese and whatever filling you like. Again, freeze these in little bags of 3. Jacket potatoes are great but only if you have a microwave (if so you can cook at home and reheat) I happen to like cold baked beans as well but not everyone does 🤣 And make a really nice fruit salad, so you’re not sat eating your boring apple while everyone else has enormous doughnuts.

How much are you looking to lose, Glitter?

Hello to everyone else, what do you think of your new cookbook Kaitlin?

LouLou789 · 06/04/2019 07:39

MUG SHOTS that’s what I meant!

kaitlinktm · 06/04/2019 10:39

Oh yes Mug Shots - I have the chicken and sweetcorn one, I think that's one syn too.

Good idea about making the crustless quiche in bun tins too - and freezing it. I buy Asda's Light and Lean sausages which are half a syn each. They are in packets of 6 which I cook. I usually have 3 one day and 3 the next - I always mean to freeze the remaining ones but I scoff them down instead. Grin I really should cook a few packs at once.

kaitlinktm · 06/04/2019 12:22

Decided to make the muffins this morning! They are bacon (medallions) and mushroom - they were delish but I think I should have left them in the oven a few more minutes!

AllTheGlitter · 06/04/2019 12:32

Ooh thank you! Looking to lose around 13stone Blush. This morning I had bacon, eggs, a muller light and an apple. Going to stock up on mug shots! Was thinking of taking chicken stir fry for lunch this week as noodles, soy sauce and veg all free?

kaitlinktm · 06/04/2019 13:51

Good idea Glitter. I love chicken stir fry and don't make it enough. I do find that eating protein more often makes me want to snack less.

AllTheGlitter · 06/04/2019 15:54

I’ve just ordered some more stuff from ideas from this thread! Thank you all! Also I’ve been given 25 Syns to use which seems very high? Was thinking I’d only use 10 but what do you do?

LouLou789 · 06/04/2019 19:32

Well done Kaitlin, you can always give them another blast as you want them? Knowing your routine I mean.

That all sounds fab, Glitter, good for you!!! I also have a lot of syns and I do use them. SW know what they’re doing and they recommend this for people with a lot to lose. Don’t forget, if you would like to lose the 13 stone you mention, this will take at least 2 years so you HAVE to find a regime that suits you and doesn’t make you want to overeat all the time. I use all my syns. I’ve been on it 6 months and have lost 3 stone. Also I don’t do any exercise. Until recently I’ve been very immobile (due to fatness) so, for me, short walks, going round the supermarket in a purposeful way, climbing the stairs at a decent speed and being able to stand for more than a few minutes is absolutely fantastic. I’m building stamina all the time, but it’s about mobility rather than calorie-burning. The syns will go down as you move into a lower weight bracket. Good luck! We’ll give you any help we can

AllTheGlitter · 06/04/2019 21:54

@loulou789 thank you for all the advice! I’m completely set on doing it this time so will keep checking back to see how you’re all doing! Smile

AllTheGlitter · 07/04/2019 16:55

Hi guys sorry to act dumb but I’ve made chicken stir fry tonight for tomorrow and Tuesday. Will it still be okay to eat on Tuesday safety-wise as long as I keep it refrigerated until then?

LouLou789 · 07/04/2019 22:10

Yes, cooked meat/meals etc fine for 48 hours, cool them quickly and keep it covered to stop air getting to it. Must reheat really thoroughly though, and if you have rice in it then that needs treating with as much care as if it were meat. Cold is fine, hot is fine, warm is not. Of course you could reheat the wok/frying pan to very hot and stir fry what you’re having for a few mins again, that might be better than microwaving.

LouLou789 · 10/04/2019 09:36

How is everyone?

In the fortnight I’ve switched my syn use from wine to sweeties I’ve lost half a stone! Which now means 3 stone 4 off. I don’t think I’m having many less syns, well not enough to boost the loss that much, it’s just a change of regime. I’ll stick to this for another couple of weeks and see what happens.

My baby granddaughter is due any day now and so I’m on constant standby. I asked on the SW FB page some time ago what food I could take with me and that’s why I made those mini quiches (small tub in freezer, along with cooked Heck chicken sausages and mixed berries, plus a Mug Shot in my hospital bag)

kaitlinktm · 10/04/2019 11:07

Well done Lou - hope your grandaughter arrives soon!

Sadly another gain for me this week. Had a takeaway alas. I think it must be evening nibbling! Sad

LouLou789 · 10/04/2019 13:45

Are the evenings the hardest, Kaitlin? Late afternoon is my worst time. I tend to have my tea at 5pm to help this “dip” (and it’s usually a really substantial meal so then I can last out)

I’ll report any baby news Smile

kaitlinktm · 10/04/2019 14:06

Ooh, it's exciting isn't it - waiting for baby news! It seems wonderful that they know the sex in advance these days - I was convinced I was having a girl both times! Grin Blush

Yes - evenings are the worst. I know it sounds horrible but I think I would do better if my son didn't live with me, then I could just eat when I was hungry. I am alright having his snacky stuff in - like chocolate (as long as it isn't crisps) but I tend to oversnack on my stuff. It can be bad in the afternoon too, but then, like you, I am OK for a bit after my evening meal - but then he has his really really late and I start wondering what I can snack on then too.

Have got in a shed load of fruit this week and some mug shots.

LouLou789 · 10/04/2019 22:18

Good idea. You could make a gorgeous fruit salad and keep it covered in the fridge, include things like a few grapes, fresh pineapple and melon (these come in-expensive-small tubs ready prepared) M and S food do tubs of peeled and de-pithed orange segments. A tub is about £3 but I freeze portions from it, in little bags.

I’m ok in the evenings, but have noticed some people on FB make themselves “treat bags” (bit like those Lucky Bags we used to have when we were little!) with a set Syn value, eg 10 syns a bag, you could promise yourself a bag each evening while he’s eating his tea.
