Hi

I joined last week. First time I have done SW. Anyone want to join me?

I weighed in (Tue) at 11 st 12.5lb (5'7" tall). I set my target for 1 stone, but would really like to get back down to 10 stone. Not sure this is doable before Christmas.

I started a new job 2 years a go and have put on 2 stone.

I am amazed how much free food their is. I don't think I have eaten so much fruit, veg or eggs in years!

Today I have had:

Breakfast: Branflakes and milk
Mid morning: A banana and 6 strawberies
Lunch: Rocket, sweet potato and feta salad with an ostrich steak (2 for £4.49 from Lidl, 157 cals and 2% fat), fat free yoghurt.

(Never had an ostrich steak before, it was delicious. It was in a Moroccan marinade)

Will probably have an omelette for tea.

Thanks! I know all scales are different. And different times of the day etc... it's just hard to know what ones to follow. I literally weighed myself at home and went straight to work and weighed myself there and was heavier at work despite it being half hour apart and no food in between! It's just hard knowing which ones to follow.
Well done for getting back to plan :) we all have bad days etc..we wouldn't be human if we didn't.

Riversleep · 16/09/2017 09:19

I stated the same last week, which I was really annoyed about because I thought I'd stuck to the plan rigidly. I did eat more chocolate than usual but I did syn it. All I can think of is that last week I was using up my syns on full fat yoghurt and teaspoons of oil as I was using up stuff so had none left for chocolate! Now I've got all the stuff in, I'm on the maltesers, which I never used to crave every day! I need to learn that just because I can have it, doesn't mean I should!

Hairq · 16/09/2017 12:01

I know it shouldn't make any difference what you use your syns for, but on my 2nd go at slimming world (on 4th attempt now - I should have learned that it's great at eating the weight off but impossible to keep it off long term, yet still I persist...) I banned chocolate and used my syns on things like peanut butter, nuts, the odd bag of crisps, options sachets etc, and the weight just fell off. But sod that - I need my chocolate so even though I know it's faster to use syns differently, I'm still using them for chocolate this time.

Hairq · 16/09/2017 12:02

*getting the weight off, not eating it off. If that was possible I wouldn't be in this state Grin

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 16/09/2017 12:54

Well I went and joined this morning. A few pounds heavier than I thought/hoped but its a nice class and I knew a few people so not too daunting. Been and done a nice big healthy shop ready to start properly tomorrow. (Got a pre-planned afternoon tea today for charity - so its like my last blow out!)

Well done on all the losses :-)

raisedbyguineapigs · 16/09/2017 17:29

It was my DS's birthday today and he was a bit down because of his terrible part in a school play, so we went to Gourmet Burger Kitchen for lunch. I had a bunless burger with loads of salad. It was delicious, and some fizzy cordial stuff which had sugar in it. Its probably all my syns for the day, but it was delicious, and Im stuffed to the gills so no snacks until dinner time.

m0therofdragons · 16/09/2017 18:30

Tonight's dinner... it's early days but if anything it's forcing me to try different meals so it's getting me out of the habit of same meals week in week out. Dd3 is less impressed but she is eating (just very slowly)!

I've failed. 1st weigh in was Tuesday and 3.5lbs down. Fab. Had a poorly baby all week so barely ate and had a dominos last night. Need to get some meals into the freezer. I just know it will be a gain this week 😞

christmasunicorn · 16/09/2017 19:35

I'm so hungry today! Really really ravenous! I've eaten 2 alpen bars, 2 mug shots, 2 muller lights, tuna steak, SW chips, sooooo much fruit and veg and I'm still hungry!! Only had 1 syn though so will treat myself tonight but arrrgghh one of those days where nothing is satisfying.

Oldowl · 16/09/2017 20:10

I have had my friend round for a coffee and just realised it has gone 8pm. I am not overly hungry, so I am going to have a quick walk (I have got into a routine of walking every evening to stave of the munchies) then going to head off to bed... with no dinner. Is that really bad to skip a meal if I am not particularly hungry?

Had porridge for breakfast, swam 40 lengths, then had sweet potato and butternut squash with a rocket salad and venison sausages for lunch. I made some overnight oats after getting back from shopping and had a spoonful before putting them in the fridge. They look delicious but I will see tomorrow when I have them.

If I don't lose 2.5lbs this week I will be livid!

Howdy can I join in? Doing SW at home as have let weight creep on and am about BMI 30 now. Want to be BMI 24.9 before Christmas. Yep I'm ambitious. I have done SW in the past and know that I need to listen to my body and common sense a bit. So I don't do the plan 100pc. I don't let myself carb up on endless pasta/rice/potatoes for one. I use a carb binge as a treat when I feel like "cheating". Also I give myself different HEXs eg half an avocado. I guess I'm basically doing the speed plan most days - lots of tofu and veggies (I don't eat meat). We'll see how it goes! Good luck y'all.

PhantomBlooper · 17/09/2017 19:39

Anyone else weighing in tomorrow?

It's my second weigh in but last week I gained a lb - it was my birthday and lots of gin was consumed Blush

Bit nervous but hoping for a loss this week as I've been super good. Went to Blackpool yesterday and stayed on plan despite all the temptations. Fingers crossed!!

raisedbyguineapigs · 17/09/2017 22:39

I've had a bit of a day off piste, having a cake and a burger at a fete thing. I hope I manage to pull it back in the rest of the week. I'l feel really disheartened if not. I've really cut down on my cake and biscuits and have upped my fruit and veg all week.

m0therofdragons · 17/09/2017 23:04

raisedby I too had cake and gin today (why can't gin be free?!). I think I kept to my syns but hard to syn a homemade cake (and asking df to weigh my portion would have made a big deal out of eating a slice of cake). It's the only day I've used all my syns so I'm not feeling bad and will use up to 5 tomorrow but no more. I've got until Thursday until weighing in so I'm optimistic today won't ruin it all.

raisedbyguineapigs · 18/09/2017 09:17

Yes I have until Thursday too. I'm going to be strict on the weighing and measuring. I can feel my breastbone for the first time, so good that it means Im losing weight, bad that it seems to be coming off my boobs Grin

Giraffefreckles · 18/09/2017 10:05

There is a meeting near me tonight. Am wondering whether to go for the extra motivation. It seems such a waste of ££ just to have someone weigh me but would it help me stay on track?!? 🤔

lokijet · 18/09/2017 11:38

Just starting out ladies so hope you don't mind if I join you. Have joined on line as Im a single parent and therefore struggle to get out to meetings etc in the evenings

Any top tips or best recipes to share?

christmasunicorn · 18/09/2017 16:31

loki children are welcome at meetings. Our group has a colouring in table at the back so look for family friendly times.
Weigh in is tomorrow so I'm trying to keep to under 5 syns today and tomorrow as I've used up all 15 every day in the last week (and a few more on top). Just so gassy and bloated all the time, I thought it might ease after a couple of weeks but it hasn't. Does anyone know if there is anything I can take, over the counter, to help?

Giraffefreckles · 18/09/2017 17:16

I'd look at what you are eating before jumping to pills. Are you getting enough greens? Too many white carbs can also cause gas and bloating.

m0therofdragons · 18/09/2017 17:47

Dinner is a bit of a cobbled together mish mash of grilled chicken and random veg, pasta and salad. Actually that list sounds planned but it's a "I'm starving so shove it all in asap before I snack" kind of meal! Been too busy today but had overnight porridge with strawberries and banana, mini omelette (I think these count as crustless quiche in sw language but it's essentially egg and veg as I wanted syn free so no cheese).

caoraich · 18/09/2017 19:17

Hello, may I join too? The only other diet I've done is 5:2 which made me angry then faint.

I joined late last night after being utterly fed up with this week's work wardrobe. I can't do stones but I am 82kg and would like to be 60kg
I've joined online as I am always stuck at work until late.
Today I've had 5 bits of fruit and veg already and have bought ingredients for their syn free lentil dahl for my tea

I'm a vegetarian - do any of you think this will make it harder/easier? I eat a lot of cheese and carbs usually.

Is the app better? I joined online on the bronze thing and printed out the big booklet of free/syn/other thing foods. But was shocked that at lunchtime my usual dried sweet potato "super healthy" crisp alternatives have 3 syns!

How are you all finding it?

raisedbyguineapigs · 18/09/2017 20:03

I was thinking I might do healthy during the week, then have cake etc at the weekend, but Im struggling to think of what to use my syns on! Without 9 syns on a packet of maltesers, I cant think what to use them on! I dont want to eat cake, biscuits and chocolate every day, as thats why I was fat in the first place! I was thinking of using oil instead of fry light, and full fat yoghurt instead of fat free. I dont want the kids eating fat free dairy, so have to buy it anyway and end up with a fridge full of different fat yoghurt and milks!

Yukbuck · 18/09/2017 22:35

Christmas unicorn... I don't suppose you're eating Alpen lights? They've been 100% causing me stomach cramps/ gas. It's like clockwork.

christmasunicorn · 19/09/2017 06:29

I did have a couple of alpen lights yesterday yes. Hmm maybe I should note this down more. Usually I have over night oats for breakfast, mugshot for lunch and fish and SW chips for dinner with lots and lots of fruit and veg throughout the day. I'm trying really hard to up my water intake as well but finding it quite hard when at work.

Flutterby81 · 19/09/2017 09:41

Hi everyone
Is it ok if I join you all please?
