Eating out can be tricky, can't it? With all the healthy eaters out there, I'm surprised that there aren't more options - at least not up north there aren't!

I'd definitely eat out more if it was easier to make better choices. I've decided I'm going to do my best for the Chinese and save an off plan day for when it's something I properly fancy - which may well be a dominos pizza alemony.

Besides, it looks like Chinese food is perhaps one of the easier ones to stay on plan with. I mean, even a dr oetker pizza is a ridiculous amount of Syns so there's really no way of staying on plan with proper pizza whereas it seems doable with a Chinese.

Same with takeaways, though. I bet if one takeaway in our city served grilled chicken or extra lean mince koftes in a nice marinade with a decent side salad and maybe fat-free garlic yoghurt, they'd make a killing.

Bit of a strange question but does anyone on here have problems with quark? I've used it in cooking twice now and had a really sore belly afterwards! The last time was Thursday night and I'm still getting pains every time I eat (not food poisoning as DD had the exact same and is totally fine)

ChanandlerBongsNeighbour · 29/01/2017 21:46

Not tried quark yet (not even totally sure what it is?).

I'm having a wobble, been so full/eating so much seemingly!) every day since starting SW (am on day four!) and keeping a food diary to give consultant on Thursday. Have kept to plan totally, not gone over syns once (been quite under a few times). Struggling slightly to get the 1/3 speed food into EVERY meal (a temporary shopping/supplies issue) I just can't believe I will have actually lost any weight by the time I get to Thursday again!! Tell me it works!!!

ALemonyPea · 29/01/2017 21:57

Chinese food is about the only "safe" takeaway, which is depressing, I love Indian food, haven't had it since August last year. Used to a once a month treat. Creamy curry, rice, naan bread the size of my head

Chanandler, try putting your speed on first, then the rest.

I'm fine with quark, maybe it's something else?

FaithAgain · 29/01/2017 22:06

Quark is creamy cheese Chanandler. Okay to use in cooking, not great on it's own! I've not had problems with it Youre but it could be an intolerance?

Chanandler it really does work. You're limiting your sugar intake and reducing the amount of processsed food you're having. It really does work. I told my colleague about it...she asked what I ate. When I told her she said But you're eating loads! More than me! And yet you're losing weight? You fill up on healthier choices. The concept behind speed foods is to keep you full so you're less tempted to snack. Don't get too hung up on it, sounds like you're doing well. Fwiw I struggle with speed foods for breakfast - just can't face them most of the time - so I tend to have a banana and then a speed food for a snack later.

LavenderRains · 29/01/2017 22:06

Thanks for all the comments regarding thai food. I think, as it's my oldest friends birthday I will just go off plan for that day and eat something lovely off the menu not worrying about syns. As a pp said, we need to have occasional treats and live life!

lemony best of luck for tomorrow. Hope everything goes well Flowers

Not had a problem with quark, but only had it twice, uncooked as a mouse.

LavenderRains · 29/01/2017 22:10

*mousse not mouse Grin

ChanandlerBongsNeighbour · 29/01/2017 22:20

Aw I didn't even THINK about speed foods at breakfast!! I've pretty much had HexA milk and HexB 1 weetabix every day, although I suppose I could count my mid morning apple?

Hopefully I'll get the hand of it soon! DH prob getting fed up seeing me with my head in my SW books all the time!

OwlinaTree · 29/01/2017 22:29

Welcome mum.

I'm not a big fan of quark tbh!

I can't believe how much I can eat on this plan and still lose weight. One thing I like about it is that you can always have something if you are hungry.

BasinHaircut · 30/01/2017 06:11

Morning all, decided to get up before anyone else wakes up this morning, and take the opportunity to have a coffee in peace. Also needed to take some paracetamol as this cold has taken hold now so at least they are getting a chance to kick in before noisy DS gets up.

Just weighed myself for the last time between weigh ins I promise and apparently now I've lost something. Which is good see No as I was worried it would be a STS this week and weigh in is tonight.

Gotta try and eat normally today but know I won't fancy much because I can taste bugger all because I don't want to be lighter than I should tonight in case that affects next week (would that happen?)

BasinHaircut · 30/01/2017 07:03

I've also managed to have breakfast, a tea, and get the gammon in the slow cooker and still no one is awake!

ClashCityRocker · 30/01/2017 07:35

I quite like quark, but it's very divisive in group! I've had a few stomach pains at the start, just thought it was my body going into shock from all the veg.

Sorry to hear about your cold basin. I know what you mean re weigh ins. Some people at my group don't eat all day (and it's a 7pm weigh in!) as well as getting weighed practically naked! I know I can fluctuate a couple of pounds anyway, so trying not to get hung up about weekly weight and look at it over the month. As long as it's a downward trend it's all good.

I also feel like I've eaten loads, but I put my intake through mfp for a couple of days just to make sure (I know, I know!) and it turned out that whilst I was eating a lot, my intake was rather low - probably lower than I've had on when I've been on previous diets.

I must admit I'm also a bit of a speed skipper with breakfast, unless it's the weekend and I've got time to cook something. I do snack on fruit though.

BasinHaircut · 30/01/2017 08:12

I could never starve all day for weigh in! Totally unnecessary too IMO. As long as you are weighing under the same conditions each week you shouldn't need to. I weigh in at 5:30pm so I will have had breakfast and lunch, but not dinner. Same every week. I'd never have a massive meal out on a Monday lunchtime and not expect it to show on the scales for example, but as long as you are eating as you usually would it's going to be most accurate if you just behave normally.

I'm also loving MFP right now. It is demonstrating to me how SW is restricting my calorie intake even though I don't feel restricted.

I often count my mid morning speed fruit snack as breakfast speed. I don't generally fancy a piece of fruit or veg with breakfast unless as you say it's a cooked breakfast.

randomer · 30/01/2017 09:09

somebody at my group lost a bit but was gutted to find her phone was still in her pocket. If only she had removed the phone the result would have been even better!!

Buttwing · 30/01/2017 09:13

Basin whenever I'm ill I make this (and other times too cos it's nice)

2 chicken stock cubes (made into stock)
Half a finely chopped onion
About half a mug of small soup pasta
Handful of chopped cooked chicken
Finely diced carrots (about a handful)

Put it all in a pan and cook until pasta is cooked add lots of black pepper.
It's the Italian equivalent to Jewish chicken soup. It's the cure for everything!!

BasinHaircut · 30/01/2017 11:05

Ohh butt I'm tempted to try that! Maybe for lunch tomorrow as meals are all planned out today though.

summerblonde · 30/01/2017 11:49

Off to see the damage done after a bit so good few days..

BasinHaircut · 30/01/2017 11:50

Good luck summer!

summerblonde · 30/01/2017 11:56

Thanks basin!

summerblonde · 30/01/2017 12:02

Maintained. I need a good week this week.

ALemonyPea · 30/01/2017 13:01

That soup sounds lovely Butt.

If you can't eat speed in the morning, just make sure you have a third of speed through the day. Only add speed if it makes sense.

I've got a head cold going on, feels like I've been ill since November.

I will cry if I've not lost anything tomorrow.

ALemonyPea · 30/01/2017 13:02

Pressed enter too soon.

My WI is 11:30 and it's bad enough not eating until then. Not eating all day until a 19:00 wi is just silly.

Groovee · 30/01/2017 13:09

Made prawns in a fromage frais sauce and cucumber, red onion and potatoes in a fat free vinegarette for lunch.

There are stovies in the slow cooker for tonight. Using the Skinny sausages from M&S and potatoes and onion with beef oxo and will do cabbage for speed too.

Doing spag Bol tomorrow. It's weigh in at 5.30pm but I'll have a big protein lunch before work and be fine eating once home.

My friend doesn't eat all day. I've told her she is a numpty!

Haven't been on for a few days. Really struggling at the moment. Will accept the giant gain this week, and crack on though.

Butt DH is dyslexic. He also has two degrees (2.1 BSc and MSc). He wasn't diagnosed until he was doing the Masters (despite it being clear to me from the moment we met). He got extra time (and support) for his essay writing and exams for the Masters (and in subsequent job searches etc) and actually managed to do really well. His handwriting still looks like a drunk spider has fallen in an inkwell and tapdanced across the page, but with typing being so prevalent these days the only time anyone sees it is on birthday cards (and he only writes mine and his parents/gran...and I do the envelopes!)

Basin and Lemony Flowers

PositiveAttitude have you seen the news from the AAT re the Decision & Control module? I was expecting results this week or next and now we don't know when it's going to be! This is not good for my stress levels...
