Lemony thinking of your friends mum x

BasinHaircut · 28/01/2017 21:04

Thanks all. Don't be silly spag, that's great news and make sure you enjoy your Indian! Sometimes life makes you realise that you have to have treats and let go a bit and think fuck it. It's still nice to hear good news even on a bad news day.

Flowers Lemony, that's shit.

Just spent 90 mins trying to get DS plus the kids we are babysitting asleep so as a result I haven't had any dinner yet. It's a good job I have a batch cooked spag Bol ready to go. Just doing a bit of broccoli to go with it for speed otherwise it would have been a big fat takeaway. It's actually feels good to be making a healthy choice tonight.

FlowersFlowers for basin & lemony

SpaghettiMeatballs · 29/01/2017 08:06

Funnily enough basin a friend of mine whose done SW for a long time refers to going off plan as 'pressing the fuck it button'. I guess new habits is as much about learning that one evening off plan doesn't have to mean you've given up with the plan.

Hope your little guests were good.

BasinHaircut · 29/01/2017 09:25

Once they were asleep it wasn't too bad spag, although there was some musical beds going on through the night and I'm pretty tired today as a result. I had some weird morbid dreams last night too which I guess is due to the bad news.

Yes sometimes you just have to have what you want. It's ok saying 'oh I can just make that SW friendly', or ordering a plain boiled rice with your curry, but actually life is also for living and as long as we are mindful about our choices and are making positive overall changes to our whole diet, the occasional treat is absolutely necessary.

For me it's about making sure I'm not filling gaps or using delicious crappy food as a crutch just because I'm tired or had a crappy day at work or with DS etc. But if I want to celebrate something bigger with a takeaway or have a food I wouldn't ordinarily eat on SW as a treat on a special occasion then I will. Even if I end up seeing it on the scales that week, it's not the end of the world or mean that I've given up on SW.

Crikey that was long! Grin

Anyway today I've had planned a treat dinner (plus I've still got a couple of bits in the freezer that need using up that aren't really SW friendly) of frozen battered fish, (9 syns) with SW chips and beans. So making sure breakfast and lunch have lots of speed and stay low syn.

Breakfast: weetabix and skimmed milk, pear and satsuma
Lunch: Omelette with onions, mushrooms and peppers, with salad and a spoon of potato salad

Will snack on more speed if I need to but should be ok.

ClashCityRocker · 29/01/2017 10:07

Sorry to hear your bad news, basin and lemony.

Only 1/2 off in my second weigh in, but I'm trying to be philosophical about it. I've lost half a stone in the first two weeks. Not sure what went wrong in the second week - actually, we had a bit of a get-together with family at the weekend and I drank far too much vodka Blush but food wise I was pretty on plan.

BUT, I'm a tax advisor, so loooong hours this time of year. I usually never start dieting until Feb for this reason and rely on takeaways, sweet treats and bacon sandwiches which the partners buy us in the office to get us through. So, rather than 1/2 off, I'm trying to see it like at least I've not put my usual 3-4 lb on which is what I would have done had I not been on SW..so it's almost like a 4.5lb loss Grin

Todays plan:
Brunch - two slices wholemeal bread, which I'm actually coming to not mind, with beans, poached eggs and mushrooms.
Tea - SW chilli, poss cauli rice but if I can't get to the shops I'm going to have to think of something creative for speed! Maybe some roast peppers.

Basin, absolutely agree with you. There will be times when I have a 'fuck it' day. These will be planned, rather than spontaneous like my previous 'fuck it days' but I won't be ordering boiled rice and worrying about how much oil is used in the the cooking!

ALemonyPea · 29/01/2017 10:43

Good way to look at it Rocker.

DH made me breakfast this morning. It was delicious.

Have had a beef stew cooking overnight, smells divine. Going to have Yorkshire puds with it.

dancemom · 29/01/2017 10:44

Second weigh in today - another 3lbs off! So that's 8lbs in my first 2 weeks! Delighted!

Going to a charity tea party this afternoon which is going to be a real tester but determined to have one cake only!

Have taken chicken out of the freezer to make chow mein when I get home so will just eat a filling brunch and rely on my will power!

randomer · 29/01/2017 11:33

lost 5 lb in 2 weeks......some of that is due to big jumper on week one. Group is rubbish and had a gigantic binge last night involving wine.

However I will keep chipping away at it and this is a great help.

ChanandlerBongsNeighbour · 29/01/2017 11:49

Well done on the losses everyone. Sorry for the sad news butt, basin, Gracie Flowers

ChanandlerBongsNeighbour · 29/01/2017 11:49

And lemony Flowers

MargotsDevil · 29/01/2017 12:12

Flowers to those having a rubbish few days.

My mumsnet time has been massively restricted by real life for the last couple of days but having a lazy morning today and just caught up with the thread.

Was worried about the scales this morning but delighted with another 3lb off so 9lb in my first two weeks!

summerblonde · 29/01/2017 14:06

Just read down the thread. Sorry to hear about your friends mum alemony. 🌸.

Today has started well.

B - Poached eggs, tomatoes, 2 bacon medallions on 1 x 400g wholemeal bread. 1 syn for a tbsp of HP. 2 syns for sugar in 4 cups of tea. It's a Sunday I'm well on with cups of tea 😊.

There's a roast pork dinner on the way and to be honest I'm going to have normal roasties. Not great I know, but I'm ok with not losing this week. Today's roast and a chippy tea on Friday. I'm not expecting a loss. It's not been my best week but I've been really good in between. I'm back on it tomorrow, have a lovely salad for work.

I did put a jumper dress on this morning that used to fit snug around my bun and hips. It was hanging off me, even DP who never really notices these things commented. It feels really good so I'm determined to continue.

I guess the scales will tell me the damage done this week when I get on them tomorrow. 🙈.

Happy Sunday all. X

Groovee · 29/01/2017 14:50

Made some houmous! It's ok and will do.

Making beef and red wine stew from SW site for dinner tonight. It smells gorgeous. Dh gave me 100mls of his previous wine for it.

Have cooked sausages to make stovies tomorrow.

LavenderRains · 29/01/2017 14:56

Well I survived the night shift without any junk food, despite there being a huge chocolate cake in the staff room! I took in mango and a porky light sandwich and had a hifi bar to tide me over.
Had porridge before I went to bed but now I'm awake I need toast and butter even tho I've used my hex's on the porridge.
But it is what it is, I'm having itGrin

LavenderRains · 29/01/2017 16:07

Anyone know what's good to have in a Thai restaurant? Sw friendly is? I've been invited out next week and have no clue about thaI food.

BasinHaircut · 29/01/2017 16:41

No sorry lavendar no idea..

In other news I've just scheduled in a 'totally off plan, fuck it I'm having a takeaway' night. It's 2 weeks away yet but I'm planning ahead and will meal plan the week preceding it to be low syn and have no more than 10 a day so hopefully it won't do too much damage to the week. DH is going out and DS is going for a sleepover with my sister so I'm going to go and have a massage, come home and eat a takeaway (most importantly I'm not sharing with anyone) and have an early night of uninterrupted sleep and a lie in. Will be totally worth not losing that week if that's the upshot. Total bliss.

I'm developing a rotten cold today. So annoying my nose has been streaming all day and I'm so bunged up. I'm also knackered from having 2 extra kids overnight. I really don't know how people cope with more than 1 child! DS is also exhausted and being a bit annoying. Hopefully he will have an early night. Gonna go and do his tea now.

It's been a good day food wise so far and I've only had 2 syns. As I said upthread dinner is going to be 9 syns though.

summerblonde · 29/01/2017 16:49

Totally full after roast. It was delicious. I've also have 4 syns worth of Terry's chocolate orange. Today is a write off as I knew it would be. Will still weigh myself tomorrow. Back on 100% plan as of tomorrow. No slacking. I still have another 1stone 3lb to lose x

ClashCityRocker · 29/01/2017 19:24

With Thai food, I think the coconut milk based curries will be quite high in Syns - the supermarket ready meals tend to come out at ten to twelve sins, so I imagine a restaurant with larger portions would be a fair whack.

However, I think there's usually a few stir-fries or noodle broths that are possibly lower in Syns.

We've got a Chinese meal out on Friday to negotiate. It's the day after weigh in so currently having a mental debate over whether to just have a super 'on plan' week and use flexible Syns on Friday or to go for the SW friendly option - probably chicken in oyster sauce with stir fried veg and boiled rice, skipping the starter platter.

Thinking of the latter, really, as I've only been doing it for two and a half weeks, and Chinese isn't my favourite meal so I would rather book in a flexible syn (or even off plan) day for something I would enjoy more like pizza

OwlinaTree · 29/01/2017 19:36

Hi all, had an off plan day on Saturday, reckon I had about 45 syns! Falafel wrap at lunch time, taco wheels with my chili and rice, meringues, wine!! Was great! Back on it today.

B eggs and bacon, raisin wheats
L ham, cheese and spring onion omelette and salad.
S 2 apples ,alpen bar.
D pasta and meatballs with veg sauce, berries and yoghurt. Maybe a little chocolate later...

Hoping I'll be OK as I usually have about 10 syns each day so I've got a little extra to play with. Nothing else happening before Tuesday's weigh in so Fx!

muminthecity · 29/01/2017 19:56

Hi everyone, is it ok if I join you? I lost 6 stone on SW a few years ago, then life got pretty shitty, things got in the way and I gained almost 4 stoneBlush. I am in a much better place now and ready to get rid of this weight once and for all!

I joined almost 3 weeks ago, lost 10lbs in week one and 3.5lbs in week 2. Hoping to get my stone award this week (I weigh in on Tuesday.) I did have a night out on Friday and drank too much but have been good every other day so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Today I've had:
Brunch - 3 sausages (3 syns), vegetable omelette, beans, an apple and some blackberries
Dinner - lamb steak, roast potatoes, peas, babycorn and asparagus
Pudding - Eton mess (1 syn for the meringue)
Snacks - sunbites popcorn (2.5), satsuma and will probably have 2 hifis later as my HEB. The cheese in my omelette was my HEA.

BasinHaircut · 29/01/2017 20:02

I can't taste anything! So frustrating!

Stupid cold

Groovee · 29/01/2017 20:07

Welcome Muminthecity

Buttwing · 29/01/2017 20:22

Lemony and basin I'm sorry about your crap newsFlowers

Welcome mum in the citySmile

I've had a good day today.

B-fruit, yogurt and nuts (heb)
L-ham, cucumber, carrot sticks, pickled onions and Melba toast (2.5 syns)
D-bacon,spinach,tomatoes,mushrooms, padron peppers and eggs. (Odd combination but was good!)

I had a bit of a ropey day yesterday so trying to be extra good today to make up for it.

ALemonyPea · 29/01/2017 20:41

I have a day off plan as well, the night before my op, immhaving dominos pizza. It's an absolute must!

Unsure about Thai food. I looked a few months ago as was going to go for my birthday, but it was all quite high. Something liked grilled fish and vegetables might be ok, but a little boring. Wagamama ramen is between 25-45 syns alone 😮
