Can I ask for some help?

Going out on a shopping trip today so we will be having lunch in the shopping centre. We would usually have a McDonalds or a Subway or a Greggs .... however I'm fed up of salads this week! What can I get from this type of place that isn't a salad??

LavenderRains · 28/01/2017 11:32

dancemom could you have a McDonald's salad with small fries as a treat? They are 8 syns.
A 6inch subway with ham and salad is a massive 13 syns! I'm guessing greggs sandwich will be high too.

LavenderRains · 28/01/2017 11:38

Working a night shift tonight so not sure how the food will pan out. I always get starving on a night!
B cup of tea
D large fruit salad and yogurt
T; chicken and pasta with mushrooms & cheese (hexA)
will probably take a porky light sandwich for my midnight feastGrin (hexB)
Also got some mango and cherries to snack on. And will take a couple of hi fi bars.

Buttwing · 28/01/2017 11:42

Dancemom

Baked potato and beans if there is somewhere
A lot of m and s salads are free if you don't add the dressing
Eat so a chicken pho soup which is free if there is one there
Pret usually have something low/free
McDonald's grilled chicken and bacon salad is free if you don't eat the fat in the bacon or gave dressing

If it was me I would go with m and s.

LavenderRains · 28/01/2017 11:42

Or dancemom is there a jacket spud place? I had a spud last time I was in town. Probably had too much cheese but was lovely and filling.

summerblonde · 28/01/2017 12:49

I've had the busiest few days at work and have been bringing work home and working until 11pm.. not had time to check in.

Thursday- I only ate a Freddo and a satsuma all day. Milk for brews.

Friday - was totally off plan in the evening. Latte, salad salmon. All good. Evening. Chippy, mikados (whole box) need to stop buying them! Freddo. I needed a day off plan to be honest. It's been nearly 5 weeks.l eating healthily. Won't be to fussed if I haven't lost this week. Don't really want a gain though. We will see Monday.

Today. Skinny latte regular 5 syns.

Not read through previous posts yet. Hope everyone is doing well. X

ALemonyPea · 28/01/2017 13:12

I think a chicken nugget happy meal has 15 syns, so use your dailies.

Pleased as punch right now! 4lbs off at weigh in today after 1.5lbs last week and 5.5lbs on my first week! 11lbs in my first 3 weeks in total GrinGrin 1 stone 7lbs left until target! I have started up pilates in the evenings at home just watching clips on you tube which I think has helped shift more this week! And ice eaten alot more speed this week (chucking whatever speed I have in various dishes). Just devoured this Bacon (with fat removed), red onion, red chilli, and garlic omelette! So delicious x

Well done Gracie.

Trying a chicken recipe out of the fake away book. Hoping it works ok. Just chilling before making a coleslaw to go with it.

Groovee · 28/01/2017 15:03

Urgh fromage frais has gone mouldy. Would you use fat free yoghurt to make a coleslaw?

LavenderRains · 28/01/2017 15:07

I can report that the porky lights are the best low fat sausages I've ever had! Very juicy and a bargain at half a synthetic each🍴Smile

LavenderRains · 28/01/2017 15:08

Syn obviously,not synthetic. Stupid phone!!

TheImprobableGirl · 28/01/2017 15:54

I know what you're feeling butt - my younger brother was diagnosed early with dyslexia, but the support he received was amazing (plus fantastic resources in college and university, he was getting laptops, extra exam time, extra coursework time, printers and a graphics thingy that cost about £700!) and actually it was brilliant for him to get diagnosed and stop struggling internally with thinking he was 'rubbish'

He's a pharmaceutical scientist something now- earns circa 70,000 pa and has just developed a new drug to help cancer patients. Can't spell his name right still though Grin

On the food front- I did well today. Yesterday I had the bottle of rose weighing in at 26 syns, but then only half a chicken fried rice, some BBQ sauce and two chicken balls- and 5 prawn crackers. Counted 8 for the chicken balls and sauce and 4 for the rice bringing me up to 38 for the day- need to claw that back over this weekend and monday!

Another test in town today- kids cinema, macdonalds and shopping!
B- banana
S- cherry tomatoes
L- two wholemeal bread, chicken breast and mixed leaves.... small macdonalds fries Grin 8 syns
S- babybel Light, two satsumas and tea
D- marinated chicken (Nando's - 2syns) with couscous (1 syn) chickpeas and peppers!

Finishing hopefully on 11 syns

GracieMeelsx · 28/01/2017 15:55

Thankyou I was very surprised as I thought it had slowed right down after losing 1.5 week 2! Where did you find the porky lights? Apparently people have been fighting over them in the aisles Shock! I havnt had a sausage since I started and could really do with bangers, mash n veg with sw onion gravy mmmm Smile

LavenderRains · 28/01/2017 16:22

gracie I got my porkies in Costco. I've not seen them anywhere else. I've frozen them in sets of 4, so 2 syns a pack ready to go!
Well done losersStar

Butt hugs. My dp is dyslexic. He is a builder and earns a decent living and he wasn't diagnosed until a college course at 16. He left college shortly after for an apprenticeship so has never really had any help with it. Some of the architect drawings he understands look like double dutch to me. My dsis was also diagnosed at 14 after being expelled from school. Partly because of her dyslexia. Anyway she went to college and did very well with the right support.

I know non of us want it to be our dcs but there really is a lot more known about it these days.

Had an off plan day yesterday. There has been some panatonne loitering since Christmas and after a bad night with ds and feeling pretty rough I had 2 slices toasted with real butter. Norty but very very nice. And it was curry night so chicken sag and boiled rice for tea and a couple of g and ts.

Today is better. Poached eggs on wholemeal toast this morning with mushrooms and steak, veg and potatoes for tea. Possibly a couple of g and ts.

My poorly possibly broken toe is really painful today so off to a and e tomorrow to have it checked. Can't face it today so taking painkillers and resting it.

BasinHaircut · 28/01/2017 17:10

gracie we've been having Linda McCartney rosemary and red onion sausages (they are free on SW) for bangers and mash. Obviously they aren't meat and don't taste like it either but are really nice.

I'm planning to do a muscle foods order soon and get sausages from there to try too.

Just had some really really shit news. A friend of ours has just been diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer. Only early 40's. She was just coming out the other side of a really shit couple of years and then gets this news. Fucking hell.

SpaghettiMeatballs · 28/01/2017 19:00

Butt I agree with everyone else. My undergraduate degree is in English. There was a guy with dyslexia on my course so it doesn't always mean what you think it might. This was a top university and 20 years ago when teaching methods were no where near as advanced and as well researched as they are now.

Skipped breakfast as I was out early. I then had a hospital appointment in the middle of the day and was too nervous to eat before hand. I was given some very good news following a biopsy so having eaten a tiny HEXB ham sandwich all day we are celebrating with an Indian.

I'm just going to have the curry and rice and I know I'll be moaning come WI day but I can't think about that right now!

SpaghettiMeatballs · 28/01/2017 19:02

Basin I've just read your post after posting mine. I'm so very sorry. That is dreadful news. Your poor friend. Flowers

I wouldn't have made reference to my own medical results if I'd read your post first. I'm sorry.

summerblonde · 28/01/2017 19:16

Basin that's awful news. Sorry for you friend.

summerblonde · 28/01/2017 19:19

and Butt as other have said. Please try and not worry. Easier said that done I know. At least they now early so your DD can get all the support she needs.

ALemonyPea · 28/01/2017 19:28

It's good she is diagnosed at this age Butt, there is plenty of help she will get, and it will get recognised through her whole school life, and work life when she leaves. DH is dyslexic and done ok for himself.

Sorry to hard your news Basin.

It appears today is bad news day, my friends mum has had a stroke, it's a family I've known since I was a toddler, so have spent the day feeling helpless.

Anyway, food has been fine today at least. DH made fajitas, he made mine with lettuce leaves and I didn't have nachos.
