Hello, can I join too please?

11 months after having DS and I weigh more than I did just before I gave birth (admittedly didn't put on that much when pregnant but still pretty embarrassing). A combination of no exercise and too much cake on mat leave. I'm ready to tackle it though. Not weighted myself yet but re Jon I've got 3 stone to lose. I'm going to join my local group on Tuesday and start from there. My DH has put on a bit of weight this year too so is happy to join me by default!

I'm bridesmaid at the end of may so I'd like to make a good inroad into the weight loss by then. My other goal is to get running again, with a half marathon in October to aim for.

Can anyone reassure me that going to a group is not going to be hideous? I think I need to commit to going - can you pay up front for a couple of months?

FaithFromTheRealmsOfGlory · 01/01/2017 10:01

spaghetti definitely the right approach! The walk in the forest sounds nice!

Welcome back Basin and hello to welshweasel! Re joining/group - it's up to you. Personally I don't think I'd be motivated enough to continue without group. It is a bit cheesy with all the clapping but it's flipping lovely when you get an award! My group has a Facebook group too so we can post in there for ideas, recipes and encouragement. I've tried on my own before and never stuck to it. Obviously some people do, it depends how motivated you are.

welsh yes you can pay up front for 6 or 12 weeks (then it's like credits on your card), that works out cheaper too.

buzibuzi · 01/01/2017 10:11

Curry! yum! Spaghetti well done for no naan!

I started New year with a sw waffle (40g ground oats, 2 eggs, 100g plain fat free yogurt, cinnamon) topped with blueberries and 1 teaspoon f agave nectsr (1/2 syn) It was absolutely delicious DCs loved them too! This batter would make lovely pancakes too

I am determined to stay on plan I did well last night, carrots and humus were demolished , as well as apple and satsumas but no wine, no crackers, no cheese (what am I going to do with all that cheese left over from christmas? DCs are not keen on more fragrant varieties Sad )

Also any tips for drinking more water? Im terrible most days I only manage a glass plus 2-3 herbal teas Blush
I might set remainder on my phone Grin

buzibuzi · 01/01/2017 10:22

BasinHaircut Im not attending meetings , I have books, joined couple FB groups and following this thread, but I dont have a lot to loose and no tight deadline to meet.
I think you need some moral support so having slimming buddy or even this group to check in with is important,
Going to meetings makes you more accountable and its funny how different things keep us on track
Perhaps you can go to meetings without your husband if hes not keen? I went many years ago and support was amazing. It good place to make friends too! someone on the same journey to chat and or exercise with.

MollyRedskirts · 01/01/2017 10:38

I'm not very good at keeping up with this thread, or at sticking to plan, but I weighed in at group yesterday knowing I was going out last night, and now I'm back on plan.

I put 5lbs on in the weeks before Christmas, and including Christmas! :O I hate it, it's very noticeable. I want it off ASAP.

WhoKn0wsWhereTheMistletoes · 01/01/2017 10:39

I'm not attending meetings either, the timings just don't work for me (daytime ones clash with work and evening ones clash with hobbies) so I signed up online. Just before Christmas I was brave and cancelled that too as I feel I have got the hang of things sufficiently and in any case am only aiming for a 1lb/week loss so it doesn't matter if I don't follow the plan exactly. MNers and DH are the only ones that know I'm doing it so you lot are my motivation!

Groovester · 01/01/2017 11:11

Aaaarghhhhhh!

I've been dreadful and have no self control. Put in 1.5lbs over Christmas and was meant to draw a line after that but I've continued to eat like a little piggy. Yesterday was ridiculous! So anyway, 2 satsumas for breakfast and a lot of water today (and for next few days) and slow cooked beef with SW roasties and a mountain of veg for dinner later. A long walk with the family is this afternoon's plan too.

I NEED to get back into the zone!

MollyRedskirts · 01/01/2017 11:24

I barely ate yesterday day, but had 2.5 glasses of red wine and some pizza while I was out. I'm happy with that, it could have been much worse!

I'm having a minor op under GA on Thursday, so I doubt I'll be well enough to weigh in on Saturday. I'm trying to stock up on easy, on-plan food that I can either grab or get DH to prepare, but he thinks even chopping up a bit of veg and boiling it is such a massive chore, so it'll be interesting!

We're going for a walk in a bit, because I am making us. Fresh air! Exercise! Moaning husband! Wink

BasinHaircut · 01/01/2017 11:25

Oh dear! I've weighed myself and I'm 2lbs heavier than I was this time last year.

Looked into local groups and I'm not sure I'll be able to fit one in before my half marathon in March, but will definitely look into joining one after that if I'm struggling. Could do with some update dated books though TBH, mine are years old.

Gonna have a read through them in the next couple of days though and get my head back in it.

BasinHaircut · 01/01/2017 11:27

Ohh stats:
Age: 34
Kids: 1 DS(3)
Weight: 12st 3lbs 2oz (on home scales)
Goal: 10st 10lbs (my happy weight)

buzzmoon · 01/01/2017 11:43

I really struggle with water too, I get through the day sometimes and realise I've only had coffee! Any tips? Does anyone have one of those bottles that you add fruit to? Did that help?

aleC4 · 01/01/2017 13:29

Hello, I am sneaking in.
I am joining SW on Tuesday with my 12 year old son. We both need to shift a fair bit. We have had a difficult year and have both eaten for comfort.
Rather than wait until Tuesday though we have started today.
I did a SW breakfast this morning - SW sausage (they are weird!), egg and mushrooms fried in fry light, bacon medallions and beans.

FaithAgain · 01/01/2017 13:55

buzz I have one of those bottles. It's pretty good but you do need to clean it out thoroughly or it gets musty! Lemon is my preference but cucumber, mint and raspberries are all nice.

icklekid · 01/01/2017 14:04

@alec4 try heck chicken sausages or porky lights only 1.5 syns and delicious!

Buttwing · 01/01/2017 14:34

AleC I hate the sw sausages I have Sainsburys begood to yourself Cumberland for 1 syn they are ok.

buzzmoon · 01/01/2017 15:00

I keep hearing about porky lights but can never track them down! Where can you get them from? :)

ALemonyPea · 01/01/2017 15:39

Happy new year everyone.

Welcome to all the newbies.

Porkie lights can be found at Londis, Costco and occasionally Asda. They're lovely. I don't like SW sausages, they're rank. As are their burgers.

I have been very good since Tuesday, and although I banked my syns to have last night, and had planned what I was eating and drinking syn wise, I was still naughty and had too much cheesecake and quiche

Yesterday morning I had 1lb away from pre Christmas weight, this morning I'm 2lb away. Not bad at all and I think I'll hopefully hit even by Tuesday.

I also have my hospital appointment to hopefully get my hysterectomy appointment this Tuesday. Don't want to be any heavier as need to be a certain weight. I'm 7lb below that.

Today has been a bit hit and miss. Managed to stay in syns.....just

Breakfast: Apple and 1 x wholemeal for breakfast with clover (1/2 syn)
2 cups of tea - half sugars in each (1 syn)

Snack: Highlights hot chocolate (2 syns)

Dinner was carrots, broccoli, SW roast potatoes, pork no fat, apple sauce (1 syn), gravy (2 syns). Large red wine (8 syns)
Bite of a Yorkshire Pud - (1/2 I think).

15 syns

Kirstyswift249 · 01/01/2017 20:27

Hi all, I'm new to this thread but hope it will help me along my journey.

I will be starting this week and hope to lose as much as I can as I need to lose about 10-12 stone in the long run!

Anyway, I shall be keeping up to date with all of your stories and will post once I've been to group!

Happy New Year all and speak soon Xmas Wink

SpaghettiMeatballs · 01/01/2017 20:35

Been on plan all day but now I'm struggling. I have a dreadful habit of eating chocolate in the evening and I really struggling to break it. Can't think of anything but the bag of Twirl Bites in the kitchen!

I've used 4.5 syns today so I could, in theory, have some but I really think I need to try and break the habit.

OrianaBanana · 01/01/2017 20:36

Hello all, I'm back having had DD on 20th December. I'm joining a family weight loss challenge so I'm back to SW come Wednesday night with all the newbies. Having a sneaky peek at the scales it looks like I've put on one and a quarter stones, some of which will be boobs and remaining tummy. So I'm back to where I was when I first joined SW, with about 2.5 stones at least to lose! I know I can do it. But with a new baby and DS in the house we'll need to be ORGANISED... Smile

ALemonyPea · 01/01/2017 21:06

Aww congratulations Oriana! How heavy was she then? You have
Ing a few weeks off SW before you start again?
