Thanks Basin
Congrats on your amazing loss - incredible!
Just realised my post sounds like I'm on it every night! I'm not - I meant for the evenings I fancy a drink! -promise not every night-

basin you don't indulge in booze? it is so high syn but sadly I like it.

Haha butt casserole really made me giggle!!

My downfall is wine and chocolate and can't save my syns for both so at the moment chocolate is winning in the evenings. How long this lasts I don't know!!

Today I have had/having

B - prets porridge (my hea and heb)
L - spicy tomato and lentil soup (free)
D - corned beef hash (2.5 syns)
S - berries, freddo, muller light

I know I'm only in week two and still VERY early days considering how much I have to lose but I am loving this 'diet'!!

user I don't drink alcohol very often no. Neither DH or I drink at home but will drink on a night out (but very rarely on a school night) in the pub etc, but if I'm eating out I'd rather save syns for food!

Today:

Brekkie: Weetabix and milk (hexa and b) - no speed cos too lazy (and I'm not sure it goes) but an apple when I got to work
Lunch - jacket potato with prawns in fromage frais with big salad
Dinner- cowboy pie (off SW site, basically shepherd's pie with extra beans in) served with veg (probably spinach and/or broccoli and carrots)
Syns - none - saving them til tomorrow at the pub!

Hope to go to the gym for "body magic". (Is it just me who bloody hates that phrase, can't we just call it exercise?)

ALemonyPea we eat a lot! hahaha to be fair I worked it out last night and together with what I bought in tescos (organic eggs, lean turkey mince, organic yogurts for dc and muller lights) we have enough for 9 dinners and enough chicken for DH lunch (he eats tortilla wraps with salad and 2 chicken breasts for lunch every day Confused ) plus all my and ds lunches (most of the tome leftovers with salad or pasta ) and snacks

roasted whole chicken with roasted root veggies
2x chicken tikka & rice
courgetti with turkey meatballs
turkey meatballs with horseraddish sauce & mash
meatloaf
chicken escalopes
pork loin with mushrooms
fish & chips & mushy peas
plus lots of veggies to go with these dinners

Hi all.

Breakfast - super fruitti yogurt (free)
Lunch- Moroccan fruity cous cous (2.5 syns) and ham
Snack 2 fruit crunch ryvita and 2 mini babybel (hex a&ab)

Lots of "body magic" I am a lipollipop lady and lunchtime supervisor at a local school. I don't drive, so walk to and from all duties. Will cycle in the better weather. At lunchtimes I look after a little girl in a wheelchair. Today, her friends had me chasing after them most of the time we were outside.

Does anyone think SW costs them more in groceries? I think I'm coming out about even so far (2 weekly shops).

DH and I decided that we are happy for the food budget to go up this year as it will be an investment in our health if it means we can stick to SW and lose the excess weight, but hopefully it won't be too much.

buzibuzi · 18/01/2017 14:43

BasinHaircut I think it really depends what you were eating before
in my case it is costing little more simply because we are eating much more fresh fruit and things like branded yogurts, which we did not buy beforehand
and because im buying muller lights for me and my dh my children want one too so i buy them organic yogurts (without artificial sweteners) again- we did not purchase these before,

I always cooked from scratch, meal planned and try my hardest not to waste food, but i know we spend a lot on lean meat, fish and organic eggs and yogurts whenever possible
I do buy own brand staples like low fat natural yogurt, rice, pasta, frozen pizza (i use these for base when my son fancies a treat couple times a month, with lots of extra toppings), tinned tomatoes and beans

my dh said the same thing- he doesnt mind spending more or shopping at lidl or aldi to keep cost down as much as possible if it means we are eating healthier and loose weight

True buzi, we previously bought lots of fresh fruit and veg already so I suppose I'm not shopping that differently.

The food cost that we are reducing is takeaway (which I don't include in the budget as I don't consider it a food cost, more a luxury) and that will soon add up and certainly offset any increased costs. Reckon we were spending average £20 a week, sometimes more.

That and the pastries that I'd buy as a treat every day when I am in the office. That's a tenner a week I'm saving although I never considered it a food cost either!

Hi all can I join please? I've lost a total of 18lbs so far and struggling to keep motivation now. Need a kick up the bum.

BasinHaircut yes you see any ( extremely rare) takeaways, odd bottles of vine on friday night, sweets, crisps or meals out are always paid for my my dh so I never had them in my budget
because I want my family eating clean I just dont buy the crap,
plus I have incredible ability of always knowing what crisps, cakes, chocolate or ice cream there is in my house and i will eat it... so its just easier not to buy it rather thank torment myself , shall I, shall i not, oh ono i'm so bad, what have i done blah blah balh

does anybody find Iceland good for shop? Never been

Report
alibongo5 · 18/01/2017 17:51

User - it is the only place to get official slimming world meals so, yes it's useful if you want those - they're easy and handy to have in for when your mind goes blan. And apparently the new salady things are good though I've no idea how much they are and I'm always a bit reluctant to buy something like a salad when I can make it at home.

I was pleasantly surprised generally when I went there - it was much less downmarket than it used to be and had some really nice looking stuff. I remember it just being full of burgers and sausages and the like! I didn't buy much though so can't really comment.

Buzi, didn't mean you bought too much food, I meant that Lidl is so cheap that you must have bought the shop.

Wine, best alcohol to have is a spirit, so gin, vodka etc, with a diet mixer.

Help!! I've used all my syns already and I'm huuuuuungry. I've eaten four satsumas already today and don't really fancy more fruit, and Muller light isn't gonna fill me up. Please suggest something before I crack open the biscuit tin Blush

I'm a SW newbie, this is week 2 for me. Pleased with my 2lb loss in week one. But when it comes to quick and easy free meals, what can I have apart from eggs? I'm soooo fed up with eggs!!!

Evening all

Wi this morning and lost 2lb. So 5.5lb down in 2 weeks which isn't too shabby. Thought it.might have been a bit more but had some gammon last night as well as a big portion of pasta which I tend to bloat a bit afterwards.

Have been running around like a blue arsed fly all day. Couldn't face cooking.so we had Chinese. Nothing too horrendous. About 1/4 portion of singapore fried rice and half a portion of chicken and mushrooms. Should have been a full portion but obviously dp and then dd had to have a bit of mine to go with their singapore chicken and chips and pancake rolls. Hmph.

Had quiche for lunch and just had hifis for b choice. Hea in brews.

Whoever asked about alcohol I swapped from wine or lager to gin and slimline tonic. Feels a bit more of a treat than vodka and diet coke and more grown up. And tastes like alcohol rather than a soft drink. Am doing dry jan atm but I usually drink 1 or 2 4 nights a week.

Thanks Bula, good idea to look at the book. Not sure about baked beans, I'd want today with lashings of butter to go with them!

Think I've just had the wrong combo today which means I'm left with no syns - didn't plan properly and it shows! Last night on the other hand I had a great feast of Hartley's 10cal jelly (half syn), 12.5g squirty cream (2 syns), 2 lady fingers (2syns) fruit and a treat bag of jelly toys (2.5 syns). 7 syns for all that, twas amazing! Instead my syns have been used up on butter (sandwich at lunchtime and jacket potato for dinner), cheese (most economical use of syns because I use my milk allowance in hot drinks - it's less syns for cheese than milk!). I'd rather spend the syns on proper treats!
