New thread, ending 2016 with some great losses and starting 2017 with new goals and new people.

Welcome everyone.

Don't be disheartened by your 1lb loss. If it is hormonal, you'll have a good loss next week.

Wi for me tomorrow, feeling so anxious about it. I need my weight to start going down.

Re groups, I hate going sometimes as they're so clappy and some people I find condescending. The old people who never lose weight and just go for a gossip bug me as well. I have found it supportive at times, especially from people who have been through similar weight loss to me.

Improbable maybe you could set a time limit? You could say I will go for 6 weeks and see if my losses improve if not sack it off.
I agree with lemony it's so cringey sometimes and I have no idea why total starters want to share bowel movement stories with me! But on the plus side it's very supportive and I get some good recipes ideas also the fear of getting on the scales keeps me on track (usually!)

Buttwing · 16/01/2017 13:47

Strangers not starters! My iPad is used to me talking about food!

summerblonde · 16/01/2017 13:57

That's all! I'm going to plough on and have no more sneaky Sunday pies 😊. It did taste so good though! X

Groovee · 16/01/2017 14:51

Summer I was quite similar in 2005. People joining the same week as me were getting 1/2 stone awards. Then out of nowhere I had about 3 weeks of big losses. The only tip I go by is to make sure you drink lots of water.

emwithme · 16/01/2017 14:57

Summer 1lb a week adds up to 3 stone 10 lbs in a year.

Plus hormonal weight is easy-on-easy off. I weigh every day (I know I shouldn't but it reassures me that I am getting to know my normal bodily fluctuations and doesn't affect what I eat). I gained 3.5 lbs between yesterday morning and this morning. (It was the same time of day, wearing the same nothing and on the same tile of the bathroom floor). The only difference is that I came on this morning.

The groups make me cringe too...even though I'm on the bloody social team! I just wish there was a way to make it less "sit for a bit, clap, listen, clap, rinse and repeat" without losing whatever it is that makes the groups work. I know that I can't do weight loss without the groups (because I've tried) but I can't pin my finger on what it is about the group that makes it better....

Today's food plan:

B: Eggy muffins
L: Leek & potato soup, some leftover roast beef, apple, pear, satsumas
Snack before college: Ryvita, cottage cheese, cheery tomatoes
D: Cajun chicken, rice, salad
HEA: Milk
HEB: Hifi bars

summerblonde · 16/01/2017 15:40

Thanks groovee - I read that and got up and got some water, I really struggle with the drinking water! I am hoping to get on next Monday and have at least 2lb off. But I've learnt to really not count my chickens...

Thanks em - that helps put it into prospective. I think I've just built these WI up so much and really work toward them. I can't escape my 'off day' yesterday, even if I had been good all week. Seems slimming world is not that forgiving, not for me anyway..

Frouby · 16/01/2017 15:59

Summer I find if I have an off day I really retain water. As much as 3lb. Mainly due I think to the salt in processed foods. I always make sure I try and avoid salty stuff like gammon or the mayflower curry sauces before wi as well as simple carbs like pasta and rice because I think my body hangs onto more water.

Been shopping today and bought 3 tubs of quark. Need recipe suggestions for white sauce for lasagne if anyone has one. Was thinking quark and a bit of grated cheese maybe?

Todays plan

B. Coffee
L. Roast port from yesterday with pickles
T. Steak, new potatoes roasted and veg with mushrooms and onions and a bit of pepper sauce.

ALemonyPea · 16/01/2017 16:21

I can weigh 4lb more in the evening than I do in the morning. Crazy how everyone is different.

Summer, I was terrible at drinking water when I started SW, as before I joined I wasn't a big fluid drinker anyway. I bought a drinking bottle that held 750ml and made sure I have three a day. It was hard to start with, and I weed a lot, but now I'm parched if I don't have 3-4 bottles a day. Also having a glass of water near you when you cook helps.

Hey Guys
sorry I have been absent, busy weekend with kids
I have been sticking to plan 100 %, not even having all my syns most of the days. I have done yoga every night for a week now (very pleased with myself)
I had sneaky peak this morning and it looks like I still have not lost anything (i only lost 2 lb in first week, maintained last week)
Im feeling disheartened- not to the point of going off plan but just a tad sad!
today:
b: waffle with berries and yogurt (hex b for oats)
l: courgette spaghetti with vegetable sauce and cheese (hex a )
d: jacket potato with turkey chilli

YerAWizardHarry · 16/01/2017 17:04

I've go to my first weigh in tomorrow, I'm excited to see how I've done, I've been totally on plan and not used all my syns each day either. I started my period yesterday (haven't had one in 5 years so it was a shock!) can this affect my WI tomorrow?

SpaghettiMeatballs · 16/01/2017 17:23

It's hard when you see other people losing more summerblonde but I'm trying to think 'if I stick with it I will reach my goal'.

Mixed up day here. Soft play at 10.30 so I skipped breakfast and had a ham and tomato sandwich with onion chutney (1 syn great value as I don't need butter with it) with carrot sticks and peppers on the side at 10.15 so I could skip the dreadful and calorific soft play lunch.

Had a mug shot and an orange at 4pm.

Got buttwing's chicken and chirizo casserole in the oven which I shall have after the pre-school committee meeting. Can't wait to try it with loads of veg. No rice or potato as I went out last night and had wine and half a pudding.

That leaves me on 1 syn. I shall leave it there as I'm desperately trying to make up for last night.

harderandharder2breathe · 16/01/2017 17:33

B apple
L HEXB Finn crispbread with HEXA laughing cow light and ham, pepper
D chicken, carrots and baby sweetcorn

TheImprobableGirl · 16/01/2017 18:14

Stayed on plan for today- and dp bought bacon medallions for tomorrow too - yum!!

TheImprobableGirl · 16/01/2017 18:20

Sorry:
B- alpen bar
S- satsuma
L- green Thai noodles (1syn for sauce)
S- Alpen bar and half a pack of couscous (1 syn)
D- cracked black pepper gastro basa fillet (7syns) with baked potato(s?) and mixed veg

Ending day on about 9 syns Grin

OwlinaTree · 16/01/2017 18:31

improbable, going to group definitely keeps me on track, I'm sure I cheat less because someone else is weighing me!

summer 1/2 a stone in 3 weeks is great! It always feels a bit disappointing to only lose 1lb when you are putting so much effort in. I'm sure it will pick up soon.

I tried frouby's cheese on top of soup tip today and it was so nice! Thanks frouby!

Fairly busy day for me, have stayed on plan.
B scrambled eggs and shreddies.
L bean and veg soup with a bit of cheese, yoghurt, apple, pear.
S 2 ryvita with cream cheese
D salmon, spuds, veg, fruit and yoghurt
Might have a freddo, still on damage limitation from the weekend!

harderandharder2breathe · 16/01/2017 18:42

Packet of kinder hippos later...

Why am I incapable of having one? It's so hard cause I can't stick to no chocolate and crisps long term, but I also can't control myself when I have them in the house.

BulaBaby · 16/01/2017 18:50

Hi all. Last week I joined my local Slimming World Class. My overall target is to lose 3 stone. I have 2 weddings this year. Friends in 6 weeks and my sister in law on 1st April. Ideally I would like to lose 1.5 stone for these.

LavenderRains · 16/01/2017 19:04

Alemony there's a lady at our group who I don't think ever loses any weight. She sits and does her knitting and moans that people shouldn't take cake to work as she has to eat it! Any time somebody says something positive and gives food ideas she has an excuse. You can't help some people Confused

BasinHaircut · 16/01/2017 19:16

Just been to my first weigh in and I'm a bit shocked TBH, I lost 7.5lbs!

I have no other words

Groovee · 16/01/2017 19:26

Well done basin x

OwlinaTree · 16/01/2017 19:34

Well done basin!

LavenderRains · 16/01/2017 19:37

Fab basin Star I lost 7.5 on my first week. It gave me the boost I needed to carry on, and I'm still going Grin

Starlight2345 · 16/01/2017 19:39

Well done Basin....

user1484578224 · 16/01/2017 20:09
