SpaghettiMeatballs
well done, steady slow loss is the best! 2lb a week is good! just think in 10 weeks thats 20 LB amazing at maths go me
nothing for me this week, DH lost 2 lb
im disappointed but hey

WhoKn0wsWhereTheTimeG0es · 12/01/2017 07:51

1.5lb loss here, I'm really pleased with that as there is still Christmas chocolate and cheese on the go. Still up a little on before Christmas but heading in the right direction.

alibongo5 · 12/01/2017 09:22

I’ve got absolutely no willpower!

Planned to have a glass of wine at the cinema, which I did and very nice it was too.

Got home and had another. Then another.

Bugger it!

And it’s my husband’s birthday today, so will no doubt have some more tonight. But can’t go out for a meal for his birthday tonight so will be doing that tomorrow, so no doubt plenty of additional syns then too!

So will really have to rein it in at the weekend!

OwlinaTree · 12/01/2017 09:32

Congratulations on the losses. 2lb a week is a great loss!

My understanding of bmi is that between 25 and 20 is considered normal weight for height. Obviously there are exceptions and it's less reliable if you are very muscular. But it gives an idea. My first target is to get to bmi of 25. Then I will see how I get on!

Enjoy the birthday celebrations ali! I have no self control when it comes to wine!

Today's plan
B overnight oats
L omelette and salad in the cafe
D don't know. Dh working away so might have an Iceland takeaway ShockGrin
Probably various coffees etc as I'm shopping today.

SpaghettiMeatballs · 12/01/2017 09:43

alibongo I always think 'sometimes you just have to enjoy yourself'.

buzi snap! DH has lost 8lb in two weeks on low carb. Mind you, he is bloody irritable with it!

calzone · 12/01/2017 09:58

Plan for today......

B...40g oats for fruity porridge and yoghurt
L....maybe a huge pasta salad
D....chilli with cauliflower rice

FlyingElbows · 12/01/2017 10:08

Morning Smile So we're a week in and we're surviving. Weigh in yesterday, I'm 3.5lbs down and Mr Elbows is 6lbs down so not a bad start. We've managed to stick to the plan ok with just a teeny wobble for ds1's birthday on Saturday. This week I'm going to face my sweet potato fear. I'm irrationally concerned that it will be like horrendous sickly mashed turnip!! Grin

OneLongDay · 12/01/2017 10:12

Morning can I join? I started slimming world last week had my first weigh in yesterday and lost 3.5lb have struggled a little without having so much sweet stuff sometimes fruit just doesn't cut it Grin but I'm trying!

littlecupcake · 12/01/2017 10:16

Can I use quark instead of fat free natural fromage frais? I want to make SW carbonara tonight but I could only find quark! Thanks.

LavenderRains · 12/01/2017 10:37

Thanks owlina my bmi is still really high thenBlush but has come down quite a bit so that's a start.
I just can't get on with overnight oats, I thought they would be nice but it's the cold lumpyness, eeew, makes me shudder.

Lulooo · 12/01/2017 10:46

Hi all. I've joined SW on Monday too and this is day 3. I'm very sceptical about whether it will work for me and I'm hoping to be proved wrong.
I'm also finding it very hard to stay away from sweet stuff. I've realised that's my biggest hurdle to overcome. So far, I've over-synned for the past 2 days but it's still much less sweets than I would usually have.

ALemonyPea · 12/01/2017 11:12

Yes you can cupcake, I do it all the time.

Welcome to the newbies, and well done on all the losses.

Ali, just reduce your syns to 5 a day til weigh say, you'll be fine.

B: fruit and yoghurt, hifi bars for HEB
D: quiche (0.5 syns) and salad HEA cheese
T: sausages (1.5 syns) and something to go with it

littlecupcake · 12/01/2017 11:23

Thank you lemony - I can stick to the plan now! First week and it's going well so far, although I struggle with breakfasts - like app said, overnight oats don't appeal to me, although I haven't tried it so perhaps I should!

summerblonde · 12/01/2017 11:38

Can I just ask.. should you not really have 15 syns a day if you can help it?

summerblonde · 12/01/2017 11:38

I've been using most of mine daily and I'm worried it might hinder any loss.

ALemonyPea · 12/01/2017 11:51

Summer, I usually have between 10-15 syns a day. My consultant says it's better to use them as when you get closer to target and you're weight loss slows, then reducing the syns might be he thing that helps.

Cupcake, I don't like overnight oats, but I love baked oats. I usually make them into muffins rather than as one whole thing and have themmas a sweet treat.

OP posts:
FaithAgain · 12/01/2017 12:02

I usually have my 15 syns summer! I tend to have a few for extra bread/butter on my toast then one treat like a curly Wurly. Soon adds up. I've lost every week bar one (AF arrived that day!) in the 12 weeks I've been going. I'd say that allowing myself syns means I feel less restricted so I'm less likely to fall off the wagon. I have upped my exercise recently as well because I know it helps the weight loss (I've lost 1 1/2 stone and usually plateau at this point) and also so I tone up as I lose weight.

LavenderRains · 12/01/2017 12:34

summer I always use all my syns. Sometimes only 12-13 & I've lost over 2 stone since Oct, so if you need your syns, have them!
Maybe I should try baked oats instead of overnight. Anyone got a quick recipe for them please?

alibongo5 · 12/01/2017 13:11

Lemony Yeah I will, but I had planned to save some extra syns from yesterday to have for my husband's birthday - so used them yesterday instead! So I'm about on track for my syns so far this week so any extra I have today and tomorrow for his birthday will have to come off Saturday/Sunday/Monday.

That looks doable as long as I don't go mad on the booze!

SpaghettiMeatballs · 12/01/2017 13:25

Arghhhhhhhh. You know when only a cheese and chutney sandwich on seedy bread will do?!

Been swimming with DS and I'm absolutely freezing from coming back with wet hair and want a massive sandwich under a blanket.

I'm being good and eating left over homemade soup but DS's cheese on toast looks better!

Thingymaboob · 12/01/2017 13:33

Hi guys, you all sound like you're doing well. I would love a recipe for baked oats. I love porridge but dislike overnight oats.
Got my WI tonight - not expecting great things as I've used quite a few syns and it's time of month! Really really bloated. Horrendous pain today so am not going to stay for group. I'm just going to weigh in.

ALemonyPea · 12/01/2017 14:03

baked oats recipe, I use 0% fat free yoghurt rather than mullerlights.

Frouby · 12/01/2017 14:06

Afternoon all

Who was is that recommended quark to make quiche with? Was boody lovely, much better than cottage cheese.

I am no longer scared of quark lol.

Todays plan

B. Coffee
L. Sw quiche. Not enough speed but I had no salad and cba with making veg.
T. Chicken breast in parma ham, roast new potatoes, veg and some kind of sauce.

Syns in my sauce. Not sure what else.

ALemonyPea · 12/01/2017 14:08

''Twas I. Glad you enjoyed it and hurray about getting over your fear of quark.

OP posts:
buzibuzi · 12/01/2017 14:26

despite being dissapointed this morning so far my day is going well
b: poached eggs on avo toast 5 syns
l: massive super food fruit salad, buckwheat and yogurt
s: muller light yogurt thickened with quark
d:chicken tikka, lentil curry, chickpeas with spinach, cauliflower and rice
if im peckish ill have carrots with hummus in the evening but tbh Ive been so tired lately with dh not sleeping .. i put him to bed, do yoga, have a shower and retire to bed with book and massive herbal tea ..once I brushed my teeth and im snuggled up Im less likely to go downstairs to get food :o
