Hi frouby- it's a bit between spinach and cabbage. I would throw it in the bin! Ha ha! I love cabbage and spinach but I HATE kale. For some reason it's become super trendy but I think it tastes how I imagine cheesy feet taste. Urgh. Love super 6 though. So cheap!
Can't help but notice your breakfast is coffee! That use to be my breakfast but now I couldn't cope without a hearty breaky!

alibongo5 · 05/01/2017 11:10

frouby love the term Fuckton!

I quite like kale and just cook it like cabbage or spinach but I think it needs a bit longer. The stalks can be quite tough though. It's also nice stir-fried or dry fried with soy sauce I think so it comes out a bit like the seaweed you can get at Chinese restaurants. Alert - I did this ages ago and can't quite remember how I did it so you might want to google it!

Em - thanks for your suggestion - I did indeed have a slice of cheese on toast last night - with Worcester sauce for extra deliciousness! Thanks for the suggestion.

Positive - will wing it over soon!

Hi all, I'm staying on plan here! Weigh in on Tuesday, hoping to be the same as before Xmas. Not much standing in my way this week. Dinner at mum's on Friday, that will be a roast so not too bad. Other than that should be able to stay on plan.

Some good work losses here, well done everyone who faced up to the weigh in this week. Person on previous page who was disappointed with only 2lb loss - I'm the same, only 1.5lb first week. I always find it takes a couple of weeks for things to take effect, so if I have a big weekend one week I'll find I've still lost well that week, but might only have a small loss the following week even though I've been 'good'.

So stick with it this week, I bet you'll do really well next week.

LavenderRains · 05/01/2017 11:38

PA thanks for the quark tips. I've got an options sachet so will try it tonight. Chocolate mousse sounds good.
I really hope you get something sorted with your dad today. You are right, they wouldn't treat an animal like it.

ALemonyPea · 05/01/2017 11:48

Kale scares me. Not sure if I want to try it or not. Looks like seaweed.

I add quark to soups and curries to make it creamy, add it to pasta with mushrooms and bacon, and also do the options sachet, yum.

Better day today now that I've moved the Christmas chocs and biscuits out of the room where I could see them.

Doing well the last day or two, but might've cocked up with lunch :(
Thought I'd bought a stir fry packet mix thing but just read it properly and it has Thai sauce in- so definitely isnt Syn free like originally thought- anybody got an idea on the syns? Can't find them anywhere online!

TheImprobableGirl · 05/01/2017 12:08

They're from Aldi...

dannyglick · 05/01/2017 12:33

Girl, your Thai-style frozen veg is half a syn per 100g, so 2 and a half for the whole pack.
Will look out for that myself: worth the syns if it's nice.

buzibuzi · 05/01/2017 12:37

lavender i use quarrk & jogurt mix instead of mayo with tuna or coleslaw,
with herbs and spices with salmon , or thinned out with some yogurt, agave , vanilla and lemon juice as sauce for SW waffles

Weighed myself this morning and im pleased to say I lost 2lb during my first week of SW, im super pleased as Ive been eating a lot of fruit and last night my dinner was so big I was struggling to finish it

Syn free cheesecake was absolute FAIL
DH ate it bless him but kids and myself didnt like it
Quark was just too cheesy, it wasnt sweet enough...meh

anyway todays menu:
b: waffles (he b) & berries with yogurt
l: soup & fruit
d: salmon, fries, mushy peas, coleslaw

What would you recommend to boost fibre? my DH always struggled in that area.. ive told him to have quinoa and bean salad for lunch

I also hid and apple, yogurt and fibre one brownie in his bag as poor guy spent 12 syns yesterday on EAT NATURAL bar

Thingymaboob · 05/01/2017 12:37

They look lovely. Not many suns either!

Thingymaboob · 05/01/2017 12:38

How many syns is a fibre one?

dannyglick · 05/01/2017 12:42

buzibuzi, scan bran are the best for increasing fibre: my SW Consultant says they should be on prescription( 2 a day).
Available to buy in group.

summerblonde · 05/01/2017 12:47

frouby - I thought exactly then same when I had a dairy milk from the tin the other night - it tastes so weird and not 'Cadbury's'!!

So far today...

B - poached eggs on wholemeal, 1 syn for Bertolli. Tea half a sugar 1/2 syn.

S - banana, apple, 2 satsumas.

Costa. Small skinny cappuccino 31/2 syns.

L - mugshot 2 syns. Ham, rocket, tomatoes, gherkins. 1 syn for salad cream.

8 syns so far today!

fifitrixibellethe1st · 05/01/2017 12:49

Going to my very first SW meeting tonight. Research so far makes it all look very complicated so I'm quite apprehensive as to whether I'm going to be able to stick to it. I'm also Type2Diabetic so not sure whether the plethora of carbs that, it seems, you are encouraged to eat is going to work for me but we'll see.

alibongo5 · 05/01/2017 12:56

fifi I'm sure you will be fine - it's not as complicated as it first seems. And you don't have to eat loads of carbs - I'm sure you'll be able to adapt it to suit your diabetes - sorry I don't know enough about diabetes to be able to advise though.

summerblonde which mugshot is 2 syns? I always have the 1% which are free aren't they?

Pah! Roses! None of us liked the new packaging of each individual sweet either! (still ate them of course! Just moaned throughout!)

TheImprobableGirl · 05/01/2017 12:57

Thanks danny - worth the syns I think, was delicious! Put it with 2/3 of the dried noodle packs and it did enough for 3 of us (one being 2 but eats lots!) for a lunch- not sure if it made up a third speed in the end so have had a satsuma to bump it up!

summerblonde · 05/01/2017 13:07

Alibong it was the creamy cheese pasta one less than 2% fat. Probably more because it was pasta. I googled it and found a website that's what it came back as.

BasinHaircut · 05/01/2017 13:14

Just done my first SW shop of the year online, to be delivered Sunday to start Monday (as will have hangover on Sunday). Looking forward to it and have stuck that chicken and chorizo casserole on the meal plan for first day! I don't work on Mondays so have time to cook something decent.

Am also trying the Linda McCartney sausages that are free, anyone had them before? Are they nice? Not expecting them to be like meat but want to enjoy them anyway.

ALemonyPea · 05/01/2017 13:26

Fifi, if you get a good consultant, they'll explain the plan properly to you. You're not encouraged to eat masses of carbs, they are just not restricted. You should be replacing a third of your plate with vegetables, so easy to restrict them if you need to have a certain amount.

If you look at it online, it does look a bit hard, but once explained it is so easy. One of the easiest diets I've ever done, and the only one I've successfully stuck to.

Has anyone tried the new SW chilled salads? I've tried all three, I'm not impressed. The Thai noodle one was gopping.

Fibre ones are 4 syns each.

OP posts:
dannyglick · 05/01/2017 13:31

fifi,I'm sure the SW plan will fit in fine with your diabetes: eating lots of carbs isn't something that's encouraged, and it sounds like you may have been given wrong information, but your Consultant will explain everything clearly at your first meeting.
Basin, the free Linda McCartney sausages are nice ( the red onion and rosemary ones).

Buttwing · 05/01/2017 13:32

Hi everyone and welcome all the new peopleSmile

I hope everyone likes this casserole after me going on about itGrin

BasinHaircut · 05/01/2017 13:46

OrianaBanana · 05/01/2017 13:50

Lost 6lbs at my WI yesterday - not great considering my baby was 8lbs, but I hadn't weighed in when I was at my largest. So, back on plan!

B - weetabix and milk (HExA1 and B1), apple, coffee
L - bacons and egg on toast (HExB2), squash, satsuma, free yoghurt, tea
D - chicken stir fry, lots of speed, rice, soy sauce
S - blue riband (5) 2 bits of chocolate (4), banana, pear, possibly some cheese for HExA extras.

I think I get 5 HExs a day, most to be As? (Exclusively bfing, baby is 2 weeks).

summerblonde · 05/01/2017 13:54

Wow Oriana that's amazing!! Well done

buzibuzi · 05/01/2017 13:54

frouby I love kale!
there is my 3 favourite uses:

  1. Kale pasta
cook pasta as per instructions , in last 5 minutes throw in de stemmed kale (these are tough as hell) , drain, stir in pesto, voila!
  1. Kale salad here by Ella:
deliciouslyella.com/video-how-to-make-the-perfect-kale-salad/
  1. baked
wash , dry & destem, spray with fry light, and bake in on low heat for approx 20 mins stirring occasionally , but depends on oven or like this
