WI last night and a 1lb gain for me. That is still a 2.5 loss over the past 3 weeks, so I am not too disappointed. I did come home and eat way too much of the Christmas goodies that I had been trying to resist. Today is a new day. A line is drawn. I am going to write everything down that I eat this week to keep me more mindful and get me back on track.

Bad day ahead today, though. I am leading a team building/strategy planning day all day, then heading straight off to college. Dinner wont be until 9pm tonight, so I need to get myself really organised so that I am not so hungry by then that I eat anything that is static. My brain will also be fried after the day and college which is not very conducive with good food choices. Hmm

I did like the new joiners talk last night at WI. When I joined in June I remember sitting through it just thinking "this wont work" "I will fail again" "How can I get out of here" etc...... it was good to hear it again and go through the book and see a few things I had missed. A lot has changed in my head over the past 7 months.

Give me a kick up the bum. I need to get my head back into this and start shifting the weight again. I feel I have plateaued and am in danger of thinking that this is as far as I can go. I need to lose another 4 stone really.

butt that casserole looks and sounds epic. Love a bit of chorizo! will be writing that one down for next week!

Buttwing · 04/01/2017 09:22

Basin I can really recommend it!

I've bloody lost 2lbs!!! So pleased!

BasinHaircut · 04/01/2017 09:52

Good work!

buzibuzi · 04/01/2017 10:08

Well done buttwing!
Basin im not massive snacker fruit or yogurt usually satisfies me during the day and I enjoy something sweet with afternoon coffe but my husband is I swear his hobby is to rummage through cupboards and fridge foraging for food so I want to stock up on sw friendly things

If his cycling to city office he wont take any food with him to work so we have been working out what he can buy in restaurants/ shops nearby Luckily its London so we are spoilt for choice

also Id rather spend syns on things like smoothies or avocado not chocolate so Im kinda eating the way I always used to (and getting off sugar), just less of it, everyone is different I put on weight because I eat too many ''healthy'' things and love red wine my husband on other hand is busy all day so wont eat for hours and when he gets home he will eat everything in his sight
He weighed himself this morning and HE LOST 7 LB!!!! im so proud

Frouby how do you cope with just a drink for breakfast? I have to have something substantial or im very grumpy hungry
Thingymaboob fibre one are 4 syns, they also have lemon flavour, I have never had them before but some people are very keen, its for emergencies only I suspect use by date is 2050 so no rush

Last night I had that light & free danone yogurt mixed with lots of berries and it was bloody lovely!

today's menu
b: poached eggs on toast with 1/2 avocado 5 syns
l: tuna salad
d: slow cooker chicken, sweet potato mash, broccoli, petit pois and baby carrots + syn free gravy

Im going to make that syn free cheesecake so ill report on how it tastes and use leftovers from slow cooker chicken to make chicken soup

Have a lovely day everyone

summerblonde · 04/01/2017 10:12

Well done Buttwing!! Good work.

I was tired this morning and despite my vow to have no shop bought coffee, I caved and had a regular skinny latte, with sweetener from Nero. 2.5 syns. It was worth it!

Breakfast was poached eggs on wholemeal. 1 syn for bertolli light. 1/2 a sugar for cup of tea.

X

Frouby · 04/01/2017 10:28

Butt that casserole looks lovely, am going to try that next week I think.

Buzi I have never been a breakfast person. And I find I am less hungry if I skip it. I might have brunch at a weekend tho. But not often. I sort of unofficially do 16:8 and find it suits me.

I did eat all day every day over Christmas though. In fact I munched and drank my way through December. First WI this morning and I have gained 8.5lbs. Ffs.

Onwards and upwards though. Line under it and am moving on.

B. Coffee
L. Salad with tuna I think.
T. Mayflower chicken curry, egg fried rice and stir fry veg for speed.

Doing dry January so might lose some extra that way and have stocked up on hifi bars for b choice.

Found some ff yogs in aldi. Will check syns later but I only have a couple a week so not too worried if they are syned. Liking aldi atm. Fruit and veg quality seems to have improved locally at least which is what did put me off. They have also got soup vegetables ready prepped which my local tesco stopped doing so that's another plus.

trinitybleu · 04/01/2017 10:37

I'm back - put 11.5lbs on over November and December ... oppps ...

B - muller light and hifis
L - salad with goats cheese and moroccan chicken (out)
D - mushroom stroganoff with rice and salad
S - jelly tots (too many probably), melon & grapes

ALemonyPea · 04/01/2017 10:52

I must admit, not really a lover of yoghurt. I like the Danone light and free ones, so have some in the fridge for if I need something sweet or like this morning, with fruit for breakfast.

I need to go get some more salad stuff, but have DC friends here and don't fancy dragging them all to the shops. Will have to have a mish mash of stuff until later I suppose.

Well done buttwingStar

I've just been to weigh in and have gained 2lb since 21st Dec so I'm quite pleased really considering what I've thrown down my throat!
Now back on it strictly to lose it by next week's weigh in;
B cup of tea and satsuma
D poached eggs on toast, yogurt
T stir fry chicken and rice. Melon
Will no doubt use up all my syns during the day as I'm struggling a bit to get back into the mindset.

I've just printed out a horrendous photo of me on holiday last year. I'm enormous. Keeping close by to remind me why I'm doing this!Grin

alibongo5 · 04/01/2017 12:17

Buttwing - well done and thanks for the recipe for the chicken and chorizo which looks gorgeous.

WI yesterday - another 1/2lb on - which makes a total of 3 for the two weeks of Christmas/New Year which is bloody remarkable considering the stuff I was necking! Though I'm sure at times the SW bit of my brain did apply the brakes a bit as I wasn't having Christmas Pudding for breakfast as I have done sometimes in the past!

Anyway, back to it and hope to lose at least a couple of pounds this wee if I can. Am trying to menu plan and note and weight everything. I've realised I'm not always very good at making sure I have my HexA and Bs so am trying to make sure I address that too.

Does anyone else find the Food Diary sheets they give you a bit difficult to use? I prefer my excel spreadsheet (geek that I am).

alibongo5 · 04/01/2017 12:22

This week obviously - I don't hope to lose two pounds when I next visit the loo!

pollyhadadolly · 04/01/2017 12:54

Argh ... I gained 6lbs over Xmas and I'm having the New Year weigh-in today. Xmas was a write off and I've really been trying since the 6lb gain (although I didn't even go particularly mad to achieve that). This last week I've been doing great during the day and then, I think because we're staying up later because we're both off work/school until next week, I've started to get major munchies about 2 hours after dinner and thus ruining all the daytime good work. I had great motivation until Xmas but now I can't 'feel' what that motivation was. I know what it was, but I just don't 'feel' it anymore - I sort of can't 'touch it'. Does anyone know what I mean or have I finally gone insane? I'm about a month behind my original goals and I don't want to waste any more time that I have to. Obviously, I'm going to keep bashing on but does anyone have any words of wisdom that might help me get back on track as soon as possible. I really want this but my will-power is not pulling in the same direction. :)

summerblonde · 04/01/2017 13:03

I'm so tired and struggling today. I'm off for a walk to try and get my steps up and a bit of fresh air! X

alibongo5 · 04/01/2017 13:17

polly have you been to the group yet rather than just WI? At my one yesterday, most people had put on but the feeling was still positive with everyone determined to get back on track. It certainly helped me find my mojo again.

Other than that, all I can suggest is keeping all your syns for the evening and having things ready prepared that you can eat without going over them. You could also hold back your A and B choices as well to snack in the evening.

BasinHaircut · 04/01/2017 13:36

buzi are you married to my DH too? Grin

He is exactly the same.

I bought a load of 5 syn chocolate bars last time and told him any day he needed one he could have one and I'd always make sure our meal plan allowed for it. Trouble is he had one or two every day so no habits were broken.

Would your DH be open to the idea of more savoury snacks? Could cook up some chicken legs and he could snack on those? Skin off obviously.

pollyhadadolly · 04/01/2017 13:36

Thanks alibongo. I always stay to group. I do save my syns but these nightly 'binges' have been taking me well over them. I think I just need to find a way of 'recapturing' my motivations. Thanks for your support. :)

alibongo5 · 04/01/2017 13:51

It is difficult when you're just not feeling it. You have to really be ready to do it. Just do the best you can in the meantime until you're ready again to really go for it.

Good luck!

Groovee · 04/01/2017 14:01

Joined my local group today. Had lost weight last year and was delighted I hadn't put it all back on.

Here to food optimising x

buzibuzi · 04/01/2017 14:56

pollyhadadolly what do you binge on? I dont buy anything unhealthy that would counteract my efforts and if im peckish at night i make fruit salad, chopped apple with cinnamon, yogurt with fruit, salmon roll ups filled with quark or ham and egg or have nice tea because sometimes im thirsty and not hungry
basin men! now my DH as seen results after just one week I think it will motivate himto stick with the diet
I think hes sweet and savoury guy :o he will often grill himself some chicken or have omelette so thats not a problem-just healthier substitutes of chocolate and sweets

I was thinking about sweets and chocolate left over from Christmas, and what best approach, I don't agree with wasting food or throwing it away for environmental reasons,
I have put it away so my kids can have occasional treat (mainly my 10yo as 2yo doesn't eat chocolate) but I would give it away If I wasn't able to resist eating it as I read somewhere this quote ''don't treat your stomach as trash can and don't eat leftovers if your not hungry but just because they are there''

PositiveAttitude · 04/01/2017 15:32

Ali would you be happy to pm me your excel spreadsheet. I hate those diaries, but am wanting to record everything for at least this week. I have started using a small diary i was given for Christmas, but space is a bit limited. plus I bloody love spreadsheets for absolutely everything

Groovester · 04/01/2017 15:33

I told you Lavender - A few pounds is nothing over Christmas.
I think part of SW is being conscious of what you're eating. I definitely do better in weeks where I write down everything. I think even though I was indulging over Christmas, I was nowhere near eating the levels of things I would've done a year ago. Does that make sense?

Still trying to be strict here in preparation for weighing in tomorrow.
I skipped breakfast.
Was out for lunch but chose a baked potato and beans so my 2yr old could share with me.
Tragically it's baked potatoes for dinner too. Bad planning or what? I will be having mine with chilli and a salad though.
I enjoyed my evening toast with philly last night so have saved hex a and b for later on again.

LavenderRains · 04/01/2017 17:45

You were right groovester Grin
I'm back on it now, just made some soup which is very tasty!

I've finally remembered to get some quark as I want to try it. Can someone give me ideas what to do with it please!!

ALemonyPea · 04/01/2017 18:46

I need to move the Christmas sweets and biscuits from sight, they're far too tempting in the same room.

Was hoping to rejoin the gym tomorrow but not going to happen, have somehow done my back in. Grrrrr.
