alibong the soup sounds delicious I am going to give that a try.

alibongo5 · 03/01/2017 16:49

Summer - do, it's lovely. Here's the link to the recipe - allrecipes.co.uk/recipe/1685/szechuan-style-hot-and-sour-chicken-soup.aspx

(It's got a fancier name than I said!)
I forgot a few ingredients - like the chilli! And I obvs didn't use sesame oil (though I love it) and didn't use bamboo shoots cos I didn't have any. And I probably went freestyle a bit as well! But still delish! I used to make it loads - almost everytime I had a roast chicken I boiled up the carcass for stock and used the last bits of chicken in it. Must get into the habit again!

MollyRedskirts · 03/01/2017 16:58

Also loving the sound of the soup!

aleC4, I would take cash just in case. None of my local groups take cards - my consultant has a card machine, but only got it in the last month and the connection is temperamental.

Arses. I had a fasting blood test this morning and felt awful after, so I quite literally went to the closest place to sit down and grab food - and it was a panini for 20.5 syns. Sad

I've had nothing else to eat all day, bar a yogurt, so I don't know whether to pretend it was a magical syn-free panini and carry on, or maybe deduct the excess syns from tomorrow, or call it a flexi syn day and let myself have a few more syns this evening. Decisions!

Thingymaboob · 03/01/2017 17:08

Ooooh what are the fibre one syns please?

summerblonde · 03/01/2017 17:47

Great tip, recipe looks lovely. Thank you. I love soup but seem to be stuck in a 'Butternut Squash rut' at the mo.

ALemonyPea · 03/01/2017 18:06

Fibre ones are cakey type squares. A lot of people like them but I'm not keen on the texture, quite synthetic. Sainsbury's have the salted caramel ones in for £1.50.

I'm more of a savoury girl, so my usual snacks are
Hula hoop pufts 3.5 syns a packet
Tuc crackers 1 syn each, usually have with cheese for HEA
Propercorn salted popcorn 4 syns
Mini pepperami 2 syns
Dairylea dunker 6 syns

If you like sweet things
Mikado 0.5 syns each
Waitrose Belgium chocolate frozen yoghurt 15 syns for the whole 500ml tub
Borders sultana butter biscuits 3.5 syns
Ferrero Rocher 3.5 syns each
Lindt Lindor 4 syns each

Hello Smile can I join in? Mr Elbows and I have decided to make the leap and we're going tomorrow for the first time. I'm bricking it. He needs to lose to have surgery and I'm just a gazillion stone of grimness! I'm really not looking forward to the "group" bit (I am not in any way sociable) but we'll give it a go. I've been reading the threads here for the past couple of days and you all seem to be doing really well. Nothing ventured and all that!

summerblonde · 03/01/2017 19:34

Welcome flyingelbows and Mr Elbows. You'll find group really beneficial and it's not nearly as daunting as it may seem. Everyone is so supportive and welcoming. You don't have to be really sociable to go, you can sit and observe and take in all the tips and ideas. I think you'll be surprised. Good luck on your journey. Checking in here and reading everyone's posts really inspires me and I'm sure it will inspire you too! A big welcome from me.

SpaghettiMeatballs · 03/01/2017 19:45

How long will you have to wait for your operation ALemony?

Back at work today. It helped bring in a routine but I don't get to eat until after 7 so I was starving. Had to abandon the planned chicken and roasted veg but think I did ok with an alternative but not sure I added enough speedy food.

B: blueberries, Greek yoghurt and Muesli
L: chicken salad with 2.5 syn dressing.
D: omelette with 30g cheese (6 syns), bacon, beans and mushroom.

Snack: mango

Think I will have 5 syns of chocolate taking me to 13.5. That's the most I've had this week but I think I need it!

Buttwing · 03/01/2017 19:45

Welcome to the elbows and any other newbies and welcome back calzoneSmile
The groups can be a bit cringey but it's worth trying to overcome the cringe as the support and advice you get are invaluable.

I've had a good day today I'm weighing in the morning and would be so pleased with a maintain so fingers crossed!

B-coffee and a pear
L-crayfish,mango and rice salad from m and s didn't put the dressing so should be free-ish
D-chicken,chorizo and cannellini bean casserole (1.5 syns) with tenderstem, kale and peas, it was gorgeous and fruit salad with Greek yogurt and a drizzle of choc shot.
Heb-2 hifi
Hea-skimmed milk

Welcome Elbows.

Waiting list is around 4 months I think. Doctor wasn't too sure.

Stew looks lovely Butt, do you have the Recipe?

Rejoining the gym on Thursday when DC go back to school. Determined to get to goal now. Think the extra exercise will definitely help.

Hello all and welcome newbies.

Had a good day today. Getting back in the zone I think. WI tomorrow. First one since mid December and I think I have put at least 7lbs on. Never mind.

Am doing dry January so hopefully that will help a little too.

Todays meals

B. Coffee
L. Turkey, salad and pickles.
T. Chicken, salad and jacket potato. Did have lurpak on my spud and a spoonfull of coleslaw but a lot better than what I would have had a few days ago.

Still have my B choice so going to have a hifi bar. Might also have a couple of roses too. Possibly.

Off to aldi tomorrow for a few bits. Need some yogs, are the ff ones they do sw friendly? Will have a look on app when I remember to. Are there any other sw must haves from there? As well as eating and drinking too much in December we also spent too much so looking to save some cash on the shopping bills. Plus I got qyite a lot of veg and stuff from there over Christmas and was very impressed with it all.

icklekid · 03/01/2017 20:09

Day 3 no sweets/chocolate and made it even refusing christmas cake!

B: overnight oats and raspberries
L: naked noodles with chicken added (2 children under 2 means these are required some days!) And satsuma
D: fishcake (2syns), spinach, mangetout, tomato, yoghurt and an apple

Milk for tea and a bread roll as snack (6 syns!!!)

ALemonyPea · 03/01/2017 20:26

Frouby, most of the fat free ones are free, but they did change it a few weeks ago.

The 5% mince is good at Aldi, and I like their flavoured salmon.

There is a good FB group called Syns allowe which has thousands of products and photos with syn value. Worth joining to see what's what.

OP posts:
Buttwing · 03/01/2017 20:38

Frouby it used to be the ones that look like Muller Greek style are free the ones that look like activia had syns. Not sure if that's changed recently.

Lemony it's really easy if you wanted to keep it syn free you could swap the chorizo for smoked bacon but I really think it's worth the syns, it's so tasty there was zero leftovers and this made four decent portions.

Large pack skinless and boneless chicken thighs
50grms of chorizo ring (6 syns)
1 onion
2 cloves of garlic
2 roasted red peppers from a jar
Teaspoon of lazy chilli (optional)
Tin of chopped tomatoes
2 tablespoons of tomato purée
3 teaspoons smoked paprika
Black pepper

Sweat the onion, garlic and chilli for a few mins
Add the chorizo and brown
Add the chicken and brown
Put it all in casserole dish and add everything else
Put it in the oven for a minimum of two hours at 150 (I did mine for 3 hours but added a bit of chicken stock before I put it in to stop it drying out)

Buttwing · 03/01/2017 20:42

Ickle I have some naked noodles in the cupboard I'm a bit scared!! I've never had them before, are they nice? I was going to use them in a spicy and sour prawn soup do you think they would be ok?

ALemonyPea · 03/01/2017 20:45

Fab! Will give it a go at the weekend. How about the cannelloni beans? Did you add one or two tins?

OP posts:
Buttwing · 03/01/2017 20:50

Crap sorry yes a tin of cannellini beans! Add them with the tomatoes.

Groovester · 03/01/2017 21:05

Hi everyone. Well done summer. Welcome newbies.
A better day for me although I was trying not to syn (after new year indulgence) and I ate 2 quality street chocolates and 5/6 mini m+s meringues.

B - cuppa
L - chicken salad with beetroot
D - SW beef chow mein

Saved hex a and b to have some whole meal toast with fat free philly for supper in a while.

2 days to weigh in...

ALemonyPea · 03/01/2017 21:09

I like the curry naked noodles, they're quick and easy if you've not got time to cook. Not had them in a while, usualy just buy them when they're 50p in Asda.

Hi, went to my first group tonight. Log in not working yet, I assume they have to set it live as I have number and password. Tried to diet alone with various success so hope following a plan will help!

summerblonde · 03/01/2017 21:55

Finished the day on -

1 wholemeal bread with Princes mackerel in korma sauce (surprisingly nice!). A piece of salmon. Bertolli Light - 1 syn.

Chocolate digestive - 3 syns. Dairy MIlk (from tub) 2.5 syns. Tea with rest of HEA and half a sugar 1/2 a syn.

I've not really had many speed foods this evening but I fancy my treats tonight.

Total - 8.5 syns.

Buttwing · 03/01/2017 22:07

I don't think I have the same naked noodles! Mine are not really noodles they are a carb replacement are they the same thing?

rjr75 · 03/01/2017 22:16

Hi. I want to join as online but it's a bit pricey. Does anyone know if there are any discount codes going about?

SpaghettiMeatballs · 03/01/2017 22:42

Got the silver package for £50.
