Morning all

annoyed this morning, scales showing a 1lb loss. Why couldn't they show that yesterday lol. Still at least I should be on for a good loss next week.

Just cleaned all the upstairs carpets. It's bloody hard work! Should really be doing the stairs now but ds is here and a pest when left unsupervised for any length of time and I can't clean the stairs and keep an eye on him.

todays plan

B. Coffee
L. Hm veg soup
T. Spag bol. Might have green beans instead of pasta as I have 2 packets that need using. Syns I don't know yet and heb will be hifi bars.

Vickytoria75 · 06/10/2016 12:53

Hi all - does anyone know if protein powder is allowed on slimming world? I make protein pancakes with a 30g scoop of vanilla protein powder, 1 egg & a banana. The powder works out at 2 sins a scoop according to the website sin calculator. Thanks

ALemonyPea · 06/10/2016 13:29

Not sure Vicky, but be aware that cooking fruit like bananas, you have son the fruit, or some fruits can be a B choice.

FirstTimeMummy25 · 06/10/2016 17:00

Hi all, can I join please?
On a weight loss mission after having baby figured now he is 7 months old I can no longer use that as an excuse! Started properly yesterday and doing it from home as it stands.

emwithme · 06/10/2016 22:07

Hi all. Well done losers and welcome newbies.

Lost 1/2 lb today, pleased with that as AF is here with a vengeance. Was truly expecting a gain, not because I've eaten anything off plan but because I feel so bloated and sloshy. It should all show next week, hopefully.

SP day today:

Breakfast (after weigh in): Eggy muffins
Lunch: Chicken salad, apple, pear, satsumas
Pre-college snack: Ryvita (HEB1) and cottage cheese
Mid-college snack: Eggy muffins
Dinner: Prawn stir fry
HEA: Milk
HEB2: Hifi bars

LavenderRains · 06/10/2016 22:50

Hi all. I'm now on day 2 & it's been ok except I've had a thumping headache all day today. Is that conected do you think? I've drunk 2 litres of water as well as tea.
But I usually depend heavily on chocolate to get me through a 13 shift and today I just had a curly wurlyConfused

Also, what are these eggy muffins you talk of? ?

ALemonyPea · 07/10/2016 06:58

Welcome mummy. My DS3 is 7 yrs, and I've been using the old baby fat excuse for years 😄

Headaches will just be your body adjusting Lavender, give it a few days more. I had them as stopped drinking Coke.

LavenderRains · 07/10/2016 07:33

lemony thanks. Mine must definitely be chocolate withdrawal. I'm sat in bed on my day off with a cup of tea, a banana and a 3 syn hifi bar.
It would normally be a pile of biscuits!

emwithme · 07/10/2016 09:15

Eggy muffins are the breakfast of champions. Kind of like a crustless mini-quiche, they take about 40 minutes cooking and last a couple of days in the fridge and are really handy to just grab and go.

Makes 6 big muffins:

3 large eggs
150g cottage cheese (I like the chive one)
Whatever "filling" you want - I use mushrooms and onion, sometimes bacon (or whatever's in the bottom of the fridge)

Fry off the filling (just so it's not raw - otherwise mushroom and onion makes the muffin go soggy) and pop into a silicon muffin tray (or lined normal muffin tin, or a muffin tin where you've used a metric fuckton of frylight)
Mix the cottage cheese and beaten eggs and add to the muffin tin and give it a bit of a swoosh round (I do it this way rather than adding the filling to the eggs because otherwise I end up with differing amounts of filling in each muffin!) and top with a halved cherry tomato (cut side up).
Put into the oven (Gas 6/180 Fan/200C) for about half an hour

And that is it. Can be eaten hot or cold, excellent for group tasters and work-day breakfasts (I am eating mine while staring unfocusedly at mumsnet and drinking coffee right now!)

Lavender, when I first did SW (and stopped drinking coffee and fat coke) I was in bed for three days with a crippling sugar-and-caffeine-withdrawal headache. I've since switched to diet coke (although not that often now, at one point I was drinking upwards of 2l of fat coke a day, now I maybe have two cans of diet coke a week) but definitely couldn't cope without my morning all day coffee!

I am trying Very Hard not to have a cold. If my FD wasn't coming into the office today to show me how to do something I've been needing her to show me for the past four months, then I'd be having a day off work and snuggling under some cats, I just feel awful and run down. Oh well, dosing myself up on vitamin C if I can find where DH has fucking hidden it and keeping on keeping on it is.

Today's food:

B: Eggy muffins
L: Ham salad, apple, pear, satsumas
D: Spaghetti bolognaise.
HEA: Milk
HEB: Apricots or hifi bars.

ScarletSienna · 07/10/2016 12:43

Sorry if it has been mentioned already, but have you all heard that powdered sweetener is changing from free to synable and some creaks will no longer be HexB? Consultant confirmed it the other night.

LavenderRains · 07/10/2016 13:01

Thanks emwithme they sound lovely.
still got a headache today but not craving chocoate at the moment.
I'm thinking of making a big batch of soup with cabbage, carrots onions etc.
will this soup be free?
TIA

Buttwing · 07/10/2016 13:45

I feel your pain em I'm exactly the same I've got loads to do today when actually all I want to do is curl up and drink tea I'm obviously coming down with the lurgy that the kids have had, I've got a social at eldest dds new school tonight and the last thing I feel is sociable!

Lavender yes soup will be free as long as you don't add any naughties wine, cream etc stock is free as is all the veg I always put a couple of potatoes in to thicken it, I find it helps me to not miss the crusty bread a bit!

I've just been to aldi, not sure if anyone shops there but found some low syn treats-

Multi pack twirls- 5.5 syns
Multi pack flakes- 5 syns
Multi pack crunchies-6 syns
Multi pack mars bars- 7.5 syns

They are a decent size not the mini ones.

Also-
Small packs of chocolate animal biscuits-5.5
Tunnocks tea cakes- 5
Lemon cake slice- 5.5
Caramel wafer bars- 6
Chocolate mini rolls- 6
Oreo cookie mini chocolate ice cream lolly- 6

Hope that helps anyone who shops there and fancies a treat! I had to run past the stollen bites and FlorentinesGrin

ALemonyPea · 07/10/2016 17:06

Em have you tried Coke Zero? Much nicer than Diet Coke and closer to full fat Coke. I could easily drink 2l of full fat Coke a day.

Did you know Freddo caramels are only 4.5 syns. Had one last night while babysitting and felt like I'd blown my syns, but was very excited to see the low syns.

Ferrero Rochers are only 3.5, and Lindt Lindor balls are 4

Sweetener going to be syned? How can they justify that?

PositiveAttitude · 07/10/2016 17:27

I have been following the discussions about the sweeteners being synned. From my understanding, although I could be very wrong, it is because some people are using huge amounts of sweetener on a daily basis. If it is only used in small quantities I think it is still going to be free, but in larger quantities it will be only 0.5syns per tablespoon. I am waiting for our consultant to tell us. Were you told in group, Scarlet? Due to the silence from our consultant, I assumed it would be announced in the new year with any other new things. Hmm

ALemonyPea · 07/10/2016 17:35

My consultant has said that the Toby Yorkshire puds are going from 4.5 syns to 18'syns. That's a huge jump!

I don't use losers of sweetener, so doubt I'll be synning it anyway. Seems a bit silly.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 07/10/2016 18:43

Are all sweeteners equal? I haven't tried any yet but it is something I was planning to investigate.

EmilyK83 · 07/10/2016 18:45

Well done losers!

Just checking in quickly...I'm now slightly below the bottom of my target zone, but wearing heavier clothes to weigh in so I can avoid having to start paying! Maintaining is proving to be tough.

On a different note, we bought some Ribena winter spice the other day - you serve it hot, it's free and it's lush!

ninnypoo · 07/10/2016 18:58

Hey everyone,

Well done everyone sticking to plan and losing weight!

I've had a tough few days. Was thrown by no weigh in on Wednesday, ate 2 cookies watching Bake Off and then snacked on bread all day Thursday (the kids made brioche rolls at school- they were only small but still not on plan). Now I'm sat at home with no food in and I can't really cook as we have just deep-cleaned for my housemate's mum visiting, so I'm tempted to order a takeaway. Feel very out of control over my eating but I find it's a slippery slope- once things start to go off plan it is so much harder to get back on it!

ALemonyPea · 07/10/2016 20:17

Emily! You're missed. Glad to hear you're doing ok. Are you planning on changing your targetbthen, or just eating a bit more?

Ninny, have the takeaway and start a fresh tomorrow.

Bibs2014 · 07/10/2016 21:09

Argh I've fallen off plan and need help getting back on!

EmilyK83 · 07/10/2016 22:37

Come on guys, you can get back on - think about how great you feel when you stick to it and lose!

Thanks Lemony! I'm honestly not sure what to do. Don't really fancy eating more for the sake of it, I worry it'd be a slippery slope back to how I was eating before... going to give it a few more weeks, I think, and see how it goes!

Buttwing · 08/10/2016 10:16

I'm in the next stone!!! Granted I was naked and had just had a poo but I'm there I shall never weigh 12 stone anything again!! (Unless I get dressed I may have to go to weigh in naked!!)

B -coffee
L-bacon egg beans and mushrooms
D- not sure maybe steak and salad or maybe Vietnamese pho soup of I'm still feeling rubbish

Bibs2014 · 08/10/2016 13:56

Well done Butt!!

I'm back on it today, promise!!
