Hi newbie here- hoping to get ideas especially breakfast. Need to lose 3 stone post 2 babies. Joined 2 weeks ago did week 1 on plan well but went on holiday this week (missed weigh in) and was doing well except for yesterday (had fish&chips Blush) back on it today...

LavenderRains · 05/10/2016 09:06

Hello, after much putting off and finding excuses I'm going to join SW this very morning, eeeek!!
I need to lose lots of stones and I know I just eat crap for the sake of it so I need direction.
I need to join a meeting as I have no willpower so I think this will help.
I'm slightly very nervous about just turning up on my own!!
Will report back if that's okay.

Mummyme87 · 05/10/2016 09:29

It will be fine... Groups tend to be very friendly.

Well done all losers.
I have WI 3 tonight

Buttwing · 05/10/2016 10:00

Hi all weighin for me this morning I'm expecting a gain which is deserved but I need to draw a line under it now so I'm going to face the music. I've made the tomato, lentil and bacon soup, for anyone new to sw this soup is amazing and really filling. I'm out of froyo so I'm heading to waitrose after to group to hopefully stock up.
Hope everyone has a good daySmile

Buttwing · 05/10/2016 10:01

Oh I forgot to say small NSV for me at the weekend bought some size 12 skinny jeans!!! (And they weren't stretchy ones!) I haven't had them of my bum all weekGrin

ALemonyPea · 05/10/2016 10:57

Morning everyone, and welcome newbies.

Couldn't go to gym today (what a crying shame) because I've pulled a muscle in my leg. So sat resting it on the settee. The urge to fill my face is there.

B: fruit, yoghurt, Alpen bar
D: chicken salad
T: spag bol

Butt, I need to learn how to make soup as salads won't be any good in the winter.

PositiveAttitude · 05/10/2016 12:26

Well done Butt on the jeans! And hope you leg gets better soon Lemony

I have just made some broccoli soup. DS (chef) has just had a laughing fit at it, calling it brown mush!! Slightly put off now! Hmm Like you, I thought I needed to get int soups for winter lunches. Not so sure now! Just off to give it a try.

froubylou · 05/10/2016 12:31

Hello all and welcome newbies.

Lemony I have just made a really simple root veg soup. It's bloody gorgeous and very filling.

3 carrots diced
2 parsnips diced
about 1/3 of a large swede diced
1 onion diced.
3 stock cubes
pinch of cayenne pepper, and smoked paprika
salt and pepper
about 1/2 mug of red lentils.

Stick it all in a large pan with enough water to leave about 2 inch on top. Simmer for about an hour or until veg soft. Blitz about half up in a blender and return to your pan. Give it a stir and job done.

honestly it's really simple. You can't go wrong. If it looks a bit thick add a bit more water when you have blitzed. If it's a bit thin blitz some more up. The lentils act as a thickening agent so you don't get that hot water with veg sort of soup. It's made 4 massive portions so will freeze 2 for next week and have 1 tomorrow for lunch.

It really sticks to your ribs and is lovely and autumnal and very cheap too.

Had Wi this morning. slightly disappointed with a maintain and a bit surprised too as have been on plan enough to deserve a loss. However we had fajitas last night for tea and I think the spice mix had a lot of salt in it as I was thirsty all night. So putting my non loss down to water retention from that and the tail end of AF. I have also not been having my HEB choice every day so going to make sure I get that in.

todays plan
B. Coffee
L. Hm veg soup as above
t. beef stew and possibly mash potato. Or if I can to mash spuds will have it with green beans and do an sp day I think.

LavenderRains · 05/10/2016 16:52

frouby soup sounds good, will try that,

Well I joined this morning, it was a lovely friendly group, I knew 2 people there which was good,
I have been reading through things this afty and trying to work out tomorrow's menu (13 hour shift which usually involves a ton of chocolate)!!
I want to have some stand bys in my locker at work,

ninnypoo · 05/10/2016 18:06

Weigh in is cancelled today. Trying to see it as a positive (24 hours extra to try and fix weekends badness and I will be in to watch bake off!) but was really looking forward to a little post weigh in treat tonight.

Baked challah in class today so sat in my classroom smelling freshly baked bread. Torture.

ALemonyPea · 05/10/2016 18:21

Lavender:

Curly wurly 26g bar 6 syns
14g bar 3.5 syns
Mug shots aprange between free and syned, somwhich flavours?
Option sachets are 1.5-2 syns, again, depends on flavour
Quavers 16g bag 4.5 syns
20g bag 5.5 syns
25g bag 6.5 syns
34g bag 9 syns

If you like puffy crisps and don't want to waste too many syns, then Hula Hoop Pufts are 3.5 syns for the multibag packs.

For a chocolate fix, mikado areminly half a syn each.

Also, if you were at group, you should be able to download the mobile site and get the syns off there, very handy when out and about.

LavenderRains · 05/10/2016 18:57

Thanks lemony that's really helpful. I was at a group, just haven't got round to doing the app stuff yet. Just trying to get my head round stuff atm
I thought those mugshots would be handy to keep in my locker. I got tomato and sweet and sour.

ALemonyPea · 05/10/2016 18:59

Those are both free 🙂

LavenderRains · 05/10/2016 19:13

Fab thank you ☺

Buttwing · 05/10/2016 19:47

I made the hairy bikers sausage and bean casserole tonight, it was really really good. I would definitely recommend it, it was a huge hit with all the family. It had sausages, bacon, mixed beans and tomatoes in with smoked paprika and chilli powder had it with mash, broccoli and red cabbage a proper winter warmer.

I gained a pound this week which I'm actually quite relieved at!

LavenderRains · 05/10/2016 20:51

End of day 1 and I've got a headache and am a bit hungry. I'm usually well into a packet of biscuits by now (watching bake off isn't helping!)
Any tips oh wise ones?

Buttwing · 05/10/2016 21:05

Lavender have you got any Syns left? If you have use them!! I always save my Syns for this time of night I also use my heb for two hifi bars and try and keep them for now too. If you are trying to work out Syns for naughty things like biscuits its 1 syn for every 20 cals. This only works if there is no free foods in whatever it is. Also make sure you are drinking loads.

ALemonyPea · 05/10/2016 21:21

That sòunds lovely Butt, well done as well on the jeans and on the 1lb gain after a good night out.

My favourite biscuits are borders fruit shortcake, only 2.5 syns each and very yummy.

Have you drank enough Lavender? Maybe have a drink to see if that's it.

LavenderRains · 05/10/2016 21:40

Thanks lemony and butt
Really kind of you to help. I had only used 7 syns so have just had a slice of brown bread and jamSmile
I've had 2 pints of water today and 3 cups of tea. I generally don't drink soft drinks anyway, only water. Feel better now after my bread. Have also had some grapes.

Mummyme87 · 05/10/2016 22:20

3rd weigh in, 1lb off. A bit disappointed however, did have a curry at the weekend, and demolished a chocolate orange. Not enough speeds or water either

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 06/10/2016 07:07

Just weighed in (I'm online). Down 0.7kg, total 3.2kg lost in three weeks, I'm pleased with that as I have gone somewhat off plan this week, not eaten many proper meals and not been logging anything. I haven't got the books and the online logger is such hard work, but I am trying to follow the plan in my own way.

PositiveAttitude · 06/10/2016 07:46

Well done losers.

Whoknows is there a group near you that you could go along to just once even? On the first visit the consultant explains it all to you and gives you the books. Often there are vouchers in Bella or some other magazine so you would only pay £4.95, which would be worth it for the books. Have you downloaded the app? I use that a lot and its easy to find my way around it.

Woken up with a throat like a bird cage! Sad Off to the mainland Southampton) today for a hospital appointment for DD4. Not too hopeful that it will be a productive appointment as her island doctor has already said that they won't be able to sort her problem out there and we will need to travel further afield. But we only go over a few times a year, so we make the most of shopping. and spend way too much money Normally a break in hte shopping is taken for a lush lunch, I will try to stick to a "nice" salad, but not promising anything! Grin

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 06/10/2016 08:17

I went to a group the first week, but when I said I was signing up online instead she literally snatched the books back out of my hand! I saw a thread on here saying it wasn't worth the extra £ to buy them when you sign up online so I didn't bother. And I'm finding the app next to useless, as is the online logger thing. It's because I split my HEs (eg some cheese and some milk) and it can't cope with it.
