Have we been invaded by the members of Hanson or the Crash Test Dummies?

GirlCat is Doing My Head In, which is excellent. She's on House Arrest (aka the vet said to not let her out for a couple of days) so is all grumpy and frustrated, as is BoyCat (although he has been let out for a constitutional right now so she can eat her breakfast with added painkillers in peace) because it's easier to let neither of them out than have arguments with the other one at the cat flap. Also, both of them being in means they're using the litter trays and I had forgotten just how much cat poo smells at 4 am.

Titsy I also generally don't have time for breakfasts in the week, I know I could have weetabix but (a) I don't particularly like them very often and (b) I don't want to use my HEA and HEB first thing in the morning. I make eggy breakfast muffins (recipe below) twice a week and have these in the fridge for workday mornings to grab and go. If I'm out and have to get lunch on the go I buy a tub of salad and a box of ready to eat prawns or a small pack of ham/smoked salmon.

Last night's dinner was fooking gorgeous. Fillet steak, chips, corn, mushrooms and salad. I love my Actifry - proper chips for just 2 syns!

Today's food:

Brunch: Bacon, eggs, beans, mushrooms, tomato
Dinner: Roast beef, roast potatoes, yorkshire puddings, carrots, cabbage, broccoli, proper gravy
HEA: Milk
HEB: Hifi bars/apricots/cashew nuts, depending on mood later!

EM'S EGGY MUFFINS

4 medium or 3 large eggs
150g cottage cheese (I use the one with chives)
Whatever you want to flavour it - my "standard" is half an onion and a couple of mushrooms, diced and fried off - but sometimes I also add bacon if there's a spare rasher going
Halved cherry tomatoes

Fry off "filling" (just enough so the water comes out of the mushrooms otherwise it goes really soggy). Pop in bottom of a silicon muffin tin
Beat eggs and mix well with cottage cheese.
Add to muffin tin and give it a quick stir (or add the filling to the eggs before you put it in, but for some reason I end up with the middle two having no filling doing it this way)
Top with a halved cherry tomato - cut side up
Cook for 30 minutes or so at gas mark 6/180 fan/200 C

Can be eaten hot or cold. I pop mine into "takeaway" tubs and they last 3 days nicely (but are going a bit grotty on day 4)

ALemonyPea · 18/09/2016 10:11

I love eggy muffins. Haven't made them for a while, might do them during the week.

Going to my mams for Sunday dinner today. After yesterday, I hope she respects my diet and doesn't put things on that I can't eat.

B: fruit and yoghurt
D: roast beef dinner
T: scrambled eggs, bacon and mushrooms

Have a lovely Sunday everyone

profpoopsnagle · 18/09/2016 10:29

Sorry, haven't been on thread for a few days but had to say that I love roasted cauliflower!

I break florets off, toss in lemon juice and any herbs I fancy and roast for 30-40 mins. Such a different flavour. Roasted slabs of cabbage are also nice.

Ok, I'll get me coat now Grin

EmilyK83 · 18/09/2016 10:40

Prof, I agree about the roasted cauli! I do mine with cumin, so good!

Today's food plan:

B - part HexB toast, beans, fried egg, fried onions
L - not sure yet, depends if I'm hungry...
D - gammon, egg, SW chips and veg

Skinny latte in town as HexA, I'm having 2 HexBs as I'm at target, so will have cereal bars after dinner!

Yesterday wasn't great... Had a bagel with my eggs and bacon for lunch as I had yet to do a food shop and found them in the back of the freezer... Then had popcorn and a slushy at the cinema! Counting that as my weekly 'treat' and will be super good now until Wednesday.

Making a SW roast today- chicken breast, root vegetable chips from tesco, veg and stuffing and gravy for my syns. Not had a roast dinner in ages so I'm very exciting!

However did my first SW shop in a while yesterday and I forgot how much more expensive it is buying healthy food/lean meat! Any ideas for keeping the bill down?

RavenQueen · 18/09/2016 13:18

I know Ninnypoo I'm doing ours now and I'm also stuck on what to do, so far it's burgers, spag bol, chicken curry, fend for self and I'm stuck on a another tea!!

froubylou · 18/09/2016 13:41

I find that if I cook what I would normally have cooked pre sw my shopping bill stays around the same. Perhaps a few quid.more on salad and separate yoghurts for me.

We probably spend less on food as I have cut down all the midweek fuck it let's have a takeaway urges.

Soup is probably the best value lunch time food I do. Am looking forward to getting back to a proper routine of doing a vat of soup at the start of the week and freezing some for the week after.

Todays plan is a Sunday roast about 5pm. Have a piece of quiche left I might have with some salad in a minute.

I randomly ate a Danish pastry last night. Enjoyed it but haven't felt brilliant all day. Very acidy and indigestion.

Buttwing · 18/09/2016 14:03

And breathe.... Dp just took the kids swimming my god they've been hard work this weekend! Tea,hifi and five mins on mumsnet ,got family for Sunday lunch today so making roast beef and all the trimmings.
Woohoo I got some froyo!! I think the man thought I was a bit mad, it wasn't on the shelves so I found him and told him " it's here I know it is, you had a delivery last night" he looked at me a bit strangely can't think why?..... Anyway he went in the back and found it with me shouting after him "when you find it bring me four!" I think I have a problemBlush

B-fruit salad and Greek yog
L- a packet of candy floss grapes (addictive too!)
D-roast beef dinner and my favourite dessert!

JOEYDOESNTSHAREFOOD · 18/09/2016 15:03

Hello all. Just back from a weekend away in Blackpool. Have not been eating SW friendly, but I have been very, shall we say, mindful, of what I have eaten. Also I've walked miles. Wish I'd had my tracker on my arm, just out of interest to see how many steps. Popped into Nandos on the way back, ordered, but couldn't eat even half of it, too filling.

I'm back on it from now, was hoping to get my stone award on Saturday but I've got a feeling I may miss out, by a lb or two after this weekend. Ah well, I've had a fantastic time and the stone award will be there the week after. Smile

It's the first time I've managed to have a bit of a break when dieting and not lose it completely for a good while. I think because I've felt so good for the last few weeks, emotionally too, that I want to get straight back to it.

Have a great week all. Halo

Bibs2014 · 18/09/2016 16:21

Buttwing, that story made me LOL

Candy floss grapes sound yummy!

Nancymcgregor · 18/09/2016 17:12

Hi all i'm new here and I'm joining Slimming World on Wednesday with my husband. I have been a Weight Watchers member before but hubs wants to do Slimming World because he thinks it suits him better.
I find it all so confusing though. I like to cook from scratch but how do I work out the syns for a recipe not from Slimming World?

Buttwing · 18/09/2016 18:56

Bibs they are! I have to hide them from the kids!

Nancy when you join you will be given a book with a list of free foods and syns. Your consultant will talk you through it all, it's a a bit confusing at first but you soon get used to it. I found it pretty easy to adapt the recipes I usually cook.

ALemonyPea · 18/09/2016 19:50

Bòught myself a Fitbit. It vibrates I feel you're still for too long, so I've TNT up and doing some step aerobics on my stairs for a minute. DH thinks I've lost the plot.

Been a good day today food wise. Still need to go to Waiteose to buy some ice cream.

tabulahrasa · 18/09/2016 20:44

"but how do I work out the syns for a recipe not from Slimming World?"

The easiest way is just to use free foods, it makes cooking really straightforward.

fortifiedwithtea · 18/09/2016 21:03

I don't understand. Started SW Thursday, eaten loads of fruit and veg and haven't managed to poo since Shock Confused

maygirl · 18/09/2016 21:45

Still no choc Froyo at my waitrose Sad

Todays food
Baked oats with raspberries heB + 1syn
Milk heA
Did my 10k run, was tough!
L m+s skinny burgers , wholemeal roll 6 syns, salad, sauce 1 syn
D chickpea curry, rice, spinach, poppadoms 4 syns, mango chutney 2 syns.

Trying beef brisket in the slow cooker tomorrow, hope don't end up with bully beef!

ALemonyPea · 18/09/2016 22:00

Have you had your HEB every day, Fortified?

fortifiedwithtea · 18/09/2016 23:17

I think so, if I've understood it right Confused. Friday 2xweetabix, semi milk and 0% fat yogurt. Saturday Weetabix and milk. Sunday porridge with skimmed milk, small amount of grated cheese.

ninnypoo · 19/09/2016 07:47

Fortified I have the same problems Blush think it's the lack of fat in the diet as whenever I have had a 'cheat night' (usually a fatty pizza) it gets everything going again!

ALemonyPea · 19/09/2016 07:56

I wouldn't worry too much then. I was so bloated my first week, but still, lost. Once your body is used to the diet, you should be fine.

Mummyme87 · 19/09/2016 09:22

I am on day 5 of week 1 and feel bloated. I am sticking to it although not eating my HEB every day.

Not feeling so positive for my WI on Wednesday

user1474185230 · 19/09/2016 10:12

Hi Ladies,

Hope you dont mind me joining your page! I'm new to slimming world but loving it so far. Read your posts and you all sound so dedicated!!

I'm pregnant (baby 2), but my last pregnancy I gained 4 1/2 stone (only 1 baby as well!!) I've been told slimming world is good when pregnant so thought I'd join your group as I could really do with the support so people don't ask if I'm carrying twins!!

I usually have yoghurt and fruit for breakfast, noodles for lunch or salmon/chicken and potatoes and then a frozen slimming world meal for dinner with salad (work full time and I have a 15 month old so don't have time to prep Monday to Friday!)

I have 1 question...what is a HEB?

Thanks ladies xx
