manic I just cook macaroni, do the cauliflower sauce (cook cauli in a veg stock cube then drain but save the water, blitz cauliflower then add water back until you get your desired consistency), then I fry up bacon medallions in a little spray oil till crisp, chop them up and add to sauce, then deglaze the pan with a bit more of the cauli water and tip into the sauce for all of that yummy flavour. Then stir in the macaroni and whatever cheese you want to use. If I fancy making it a bit naughtier then I'll chuck in some creme Fraiche.

If you use HEXA cheese (1 HEXA per portion) then it's syn free unless you add the creme Fraiche. I use half fat one which is 1.5 syns per tablespoon.

Curiouschance · 09/09/2016 14:59

I wanted to join this chat!

Started SW on Wednesday, have 3st to lose!

I am just constantly hungry, so filling up on muller lights and chopped veg.

I have a question- where do you buy Passata? I have been trying to find some and failing miserably!

Ellie

tabulahrasa · 09/09/2016 15:01

Passatta is usually near tinned tomatoes or tomato purée in supermarkets.

EmilyK83 · 09/09/2016 15:20

Raven - best burgers I've made so far have literally just been 5% beef mince, pepper and more salt than you think you need - so good!

Definitely think it's worth scrolling through for ideas. One of my favourite recent meals was hunters chicken - I made a big batch of the BBQ sauce recipe from the SW website for it. Sliced chicken breasts down the middle (not right the way through), smothered in BBQ sauce and topped with bacon (fat removed). Cooked at 180 for 20-25 mins, topped with HexA grated cheese, then cooked for another 10 minutes. So good!

I hate the Iceland SW burgers, they taste wrong. I am loving M&S skinny burgers though, Yum!

I've jus bought the new barbecue chicken from Iceland, they didn't have the chip shop curry sauce though. Silly check out lady was trying to force me to take the free muller lights, I didn't want them as don't like muller lights, she even offered to go get them for me. Honestly, I must have told her no at least 10 times.

manicpixiestargirl · 09/09/2016 16:56

Thanks Basin, definitely going to try that!

Lemony, had the BBQ chicken for lunch yesterday, I liked it. The new sweet and sour chicken was pretty nice as well :)

ALemonyPea · 09/09/2016 17:29

I don't like any of the SW curries or noodles, so hoping it's ok. I do like the sweet and sour chicken though.

DH is away camping with oldest DS today, I hate being in the house by myself,my tend to eat too much when along, mostly through boredom. Need to go food shopping as well, and not much free foods to snack on.

B: fruit and yoghurt
D: subway salad, 1.5 syns for dressing
T: homemade pizza (HEB and HEA used) + extra 5 syns, with salad

JOEYDOESNTSHAREFOOD · 09/09/2016 17:38

Hello all! Well my leftover Mexican chicken and SW chips had the staff room agog today at lunchtime. Tbf, it did smell (and taste) bloody amazing! Grin

B- overnight oats, fruit (HEB, +1 syn for honey Skyr)
L- Mexican chicken, SW chips, mexicana cheese (HEA)
D- SW burger, bacon medallions, SW chips (again - concerned this might be too much?) + salad.

Weigh in tomorrow at 8am!

ALemonyPea · 09/09/2016 17:57

As long as the SW chips are SW chips, then you're fine eating them twice a day. I'm only having carbs with one meal a day though, which seems to have helped.

PositiveAttitude · 09/09/2016 17:59

Hi all.

Job interview went well and I have got the job. Grin

Birthday celebrations are continuing tonight with another meal out, but I am hoping to be able to choose sensibly. Tomorrow night DH is taking me out, which means there must be a blue moon appearing and I definitely NOT planning to be sensible!! Oh and cake!!! Blush
So, to counter-act all these extra syns I have been trying to do the scan bran thingy during the day. Does anyone have an opinion on whether this is a crazy idea or not? I just figured that when I did it before I lost 4.5 lb in a week, so if I do it this time with the added bits then I am far more likely to maintain, rather then put on masses! Or am I stupid??????

ALemonyPea · 09/09/2016 18:08

Well done Positive!

I don't think the scran bran thing sounds silly at all, my SW leader would say you're protecting your weight loss.

EmilyK83 · 09/09/2016 18:27

Yay well done Positive!

And scan bran makes perfect sense! Just be sure to stop 2 days before weigh in to give your body a chance to readjust itself back to normal...and drink plenty of water!

Some great losses reported here - well done all!

I lost 1lb in week one which was low but pretty good considering I bust my syns on 4 days including fish & chips one day. Must've done it right on the on plan days, otherwise deserved to put on!

This week's been going v well, just one slip up at a works drinks where beer and wine was all pre supplied, would have been a fuss to get a G&T separately.

Question for you - have ordered a chicken kebab takeaway tonight. So grilled chicken, veg & a pitta. I'm guessing there's some oil involved. Has anyone 'synned' this before? What do you reckon?

ALemonyPea · 09/09/2016 19:28

I'd add 2 syns for the oil, and pita will need to be syned

Chewbecca · 09/09/2016 20:32

Gosh, looks like the pitta is 7 or 7.5 syns. Wish I'd only eaten half now! Never mind, will count as 10 overall I think. Thankfully I'd only had 5 so fat today. No curly wurly for me tonight.

A reminder to meal plan!

RavenQueen · 09/09/2016 21:07

Following on from Chewbaccas post when having Chinese takeaway in particular what do you all have to keep the syns low or do you all just go sod it and start again the following day x

ALemonyPea · 09/09/2016 21:33

I'm usually, pretty good with chinese takeaways, but I might have a prawn toast and not syn it, the rebel that I am.

BasinHaircut · 09/09/2016 22:05

raven I always think sod it when I have a Chinese. Having one tomorrow night but in a sharing situation so will eat less than usual. I don't usually like to share! Grin

Happy that I stayed on plan today. Will have a weetabix breakfast and leftover macaroni and salad for lunch so will only be dinner off-plan.

Also starting week 4 of couch to 5k in the morning.

Buttwing · 09/09/2016 22:51

Hello again!

Had a rubbish few weeks and wasn't in the right place to be doing sw, I rejoined on Wednesday and I've put a bit on but my I'm back in the zone!
I've just been out on a night out and just stuck to diet coke as I want a fabulous first week.

Was it em or Emily who loved the waitrose chocolate frozen yogurt?
I got some today but when I worked out the Syns using 20 cals-1 syn it came up much higher, is it because it's got free food in? Is it listed somewhere? I don't want to dive in snout first then realise I've eaten a weeks worth of Syns in one goGrin

RavenQueen · 09/09/2016 23:00

Haha Basin we're having chinese tomorrow and I'm trying to think what to have, lol. I never have prawn toast etc so it's only mainly a main meal I have. I think I'll just have what I normally have which is Thai special noodles or Singapore Chow Mein. Then be mega good the rest of the week

ALemonyPea · 09/09/2016 23:29

Butt, if it's the Waitrose Love Life calorie controlled chocolate frozen yoghurt, app says 3 syns per 100ml, so def 15 for the tub.

EmilyK83 · 10/09/2016 06:59

Welcome back Butt! It's both me and Em who love that froyo, haha! I'd definitely go by what it says on the app, rather than calculating syns...

OP posts:
Buttwing · 10/09/2016 07:48

Yay I was hoping you would all say thatGrin

I found another fat free froyo in waitrose it's call lick and they do a banana and honey one the calorie content is a tiny bit lower than the chocolate one so I'm guessing it's similar Syns it's really nice, not quite as good as the chocolate but nice for a change.

I've got 25 2 and 3 year olds coming to my house this afternoon for my sons 3rd birthday party. What on earth was I thinking when I agreed to this!!
We are having a bouncy castle in the garden so I'm off to my sunshine dance as its looking distinctly grey and murky in Cheshire this morning!!!

ALemonyPea · 10/09/2016 08:42

The kick one is 4.5 per 100ml Butt, so higher.

Good luck with your party!

BasinHaircut · 10/09/2016 08:57

raven I'm a crispy chilli beef girl, which is a gazillion syns. I'd rather go whole hog and then just get back on it the next day than try to have a 'good' takeaway. If I did that I wouldn't feel satisfied by it and more likely to go off plan again the next day.

Today I've been for a run and had my weetabix with a tiny bit of milk for breakfast. Feeling good!
