I am a fucking numpty at times.

Last night, when making lunch for today, I ripped the bag containing the salad leaves so thought "aha, I shall just put the leaves, tomatoes etc into a lunchbox already" (rather than try to contain them in the torn bag aka all over the salad drawer), and then carried on and made a delicious lunch of marinated chicken breast salad.

Yeah. Obviously picked up the wrong bloody box this morning, didn't I. Undressed salad and no meat. Fortunately, the little Spar shop over the road from work had some ham, but FFS. If I had a brain, I'd be dangerous.

justamo · 08/09/2016 14:22

Thank you for the welcome back Emily and Basin

Bibs we sound very similar. I'll kick you if you kick me Smile

So, I went for a 3 mile run, rejoined group and then ate a bar of a chocolate Blush

Due to a technical glitch I couldn't sign up for 6 weeks, I'll do that next week, so I'll now give it a proper go (excluding today's farewell chocolate binge) for 7 weeks. The damage wasn't too bad I'd put on 3lb since last weigh in 6 weeks ago. I'm 11-8.5 and want to get into the 10 stone bracket.

After group I went to Lidl and stocked up on fruit & veg. I took celery & carrot sticks to eat on route but sadly I still bought and ate the chocolate. I told myself I'd earned it following the run and therein lies the problem as to why I'm not happy with my weight/shape!

missmillimentscardigan · 08/09/2016 14:34

Just made a SW quiche for lunch. Peppers, onions, eggs, turkey and ff cottage cheese. It was quite nice but I think I might leave out the cottage cheese next time and just do mini quiches in a silicone muffin tin.
Anyone got any good lunch ideas? I've had jacket potato with Heinz Five Beans (v nice), omelettes and salads.
Just realised I haven't eaten any bread for about 5 days because ive having oats or muesli. I ate loads of bread before. Hoping it pays off tonight at wi...

PositiveAttitude · 08/09/2016 16:11

Would someone please just tell me that anything eaten to celebrate a rather large birthday just passes through the system and no syns are included!! Grin Belly up big time today!!

ALemonyPea · 08/09/2016 16:24

Well done Em.

Positive, it's a scientific fact that birthday food contains no calories, mjust like having a Diet Coke with your McDonalds negates the calories in your Big Mac.

JOEYDOESNTSHAREFOOD · 08/09/2016 17:49

Evening all!!

Feeling so bloody good at the minute. Grin I have been bang on plan all week, and I'm so proud of myself. I think I might cry if it doesn't show at the scales on Saturday morning.

Today I've had:

B- weetabix (HEB)
L- left over pasta bake (cheese HEA) and salad.
D- Mexican chicken and SW chips, topped with spicy cheese. (5syns) This was so lush and felt so naughty.

victoriatoas · 08/09/2016 17:51

Hi! Can anyone join this forum? I don't want to just jump in! I am new to slimming world and need a few ideas to get started- does anyone use all of their syns every day?

ALemonyPea · 08/09/2016 18:03

Welcome Victoria. I use most of my syns every day and still manage to lose, mthey are there to be eaten after all.

I've eaten 11 syns over my allowance today Blush so will eat less the next few days, that's how flexible syns are. I love them. I blame DH, he left biscuits within my reach.

victoriatoas · 08/09/2016 18:15

Both myself and my DH went for a health check yesterday - I am very overweight but blood pressure etc are ok, he is close to death by all accounts so that has shocked us both into doing something. Need to shift some of this weight. I have bought myself a Motivacelet and I intend to fill it by Christmas with 2 stones loss. Thanks for the welcome :) xx

maygirl · 08/09/2016 21:33

Hi Victoria and good luck joey!!

B poached eggs on half tin Mexican beanz 0.5 syn, spinach, avocado 3 syns
Milk in coffee 2syn, orange
L noodle and salmon salad 0.5 syn, yogurt
Snack heB wrap with pasatta and half heA mozzarella grilled.
D tomato pasta bake, with Calzone's cauli cheese sauce on top, (2 syn/portion philli lite mixed in) and other half HeA parmesan on top, with carrots, peas, and choi sum

Strawberry Pimms 5 syns

BELLAARA · 09/09/2016 07:15

Hi all, ref thread 7, can anyone give me the recipie for 1 syn choc brownies please? Love the cinnamon ice cream, thanks for sharing. Has anyone else got any gems of recipies to share? I'm in week 4, and starting to lose inspiration. Have exhausted the SW page for meal/snack ideas (with some very mixed results) and hope that I can get some new ideas here.
TIA

EmilyK83 · 09/09/2016 07:17

Hi Victoria! I got to target last week with a 5 stone loss, and probably used all my syns every week - I review restaurants as part of my job, so I'd not count syns for my one meal out a week, but would reduce them throughout the week to compensate!

Today's plan for me:

B - mushroom, courgette and leek omelette
L - mixed bean and tuna salad
D - picky bits from the fridge - loads of cold meats and calamari from M&S (all syn free), beetroot salad, salad, boiled eggs, cottage cheese.

Skinny latte as HexA, Finn Crisp crispbreads as HexB...

OP posts:
ALemonyPea · 09/09/2016 08:01

1 syn chocolate Brownies

60g bourneville powder (8 syns)
6 eggs, separated
Tub of sweetener (roughly 75g, but I'd use slightly less next time)
Little bit vanilla essence

Whisk egg whites, mix other ingredients together, then combine with egg whites.

I used muffin trays sprayed with fry light and mixture made 12. Baked at gas Mark 6 for 15-20 minutes.

They work out around 0.6 syns if you get 12, so either three for 2 syns, or 1'syn each.

BasinHaircut · 09/09/2016 09:01

Welcome victoria.

Id recommend using all of your syns, with a mixture of some treats and also on making meals a bit naughtier. For example a HEXA of cheese might not be enough if you are a cheese fiend like me, so on some dishes I'd double up and use an additional 6 syns of cheese. Equally I'd always chuck a bit of butter in a risotto else it would leave me unsatisfied and more likely to reach for the biscuits!

But this is completely the opposite approach that others take, some save them all for wine! You need to give it a few weeks and see what works for you.

Today I'm very proud f myself for cancelling a meal out with a friend and inviting her for dinner instead. I am staying away Saturday night and there will most likely be an off plan meal involved so I don't want 2 in a row. I'm going to make bacon mac and cheese with calzone's sauce and syns will be cheese/dollop or two of creme Fraiche. Will tailor the recipe based on how many syns I have left!

So today:
B - weetabix and milk (HEXA and HEXB), berries
L - leftover spag Bol (with a shite load of speed in), banana
D - Mac and cheese and salad

Tomorrow breakfast and lunch will be on plan, but dinner will probably be a takeaway or pub dinner which I plan to enjoy.

RavenQueen · 09/09/2016 11:12

Hi All, I'm a newbie I only joined SW last night so really need all the help and advice I can get xxx

BasinHaircut · 09/09/2016 11:35

Hi Raven, welcome.

If you post your food plan for the day on here people can offer you advice on it.

You will find lots of inspiration here too so you don't get bored with repetitive meals.

victoriatoas · 09/09/2016 11:49

Thank you everyone for the tips - still a bit daunted but I am giving it all I have! :) x

RavenQueen · 09/09/2016 12:02

Well today is a bit of a bit of useless day to be honest with it being Fri and having hardly any food!! Lol. So

B nothing for today 😔 coffee (HEAX) milk
L. Ham omelette
D. Chicken salad with baby potatoes followed by strawberries if the kids don't eat them all.

We do have coleslaw, so I'm going to work out how much some of that would be as well. It's going to be difficult next week when I've got to substitute the meals we used to have for new ones.

Bibs2014 · 09/09/2016 12:14

I had a great day yesterday and even did 40 mins in the gym! Long may it continue!

Menu
Cereal and skimmed milk, raspberries
Chicken salad and rice
Casserole and veg
Yoghurt

Blueberry234 · 09/09/2016 12:26

Today looks like
B- hexa in a skinny latte
L- bacon medallions, tomato in hexb bread. Raspberries and Muller yoghurt
D- heck sausages (1) veg and mash

May have a bag Sunbites later (6)

MollyRedskirts · 09/09/2016 13:07

Yay, someone made my ice-cream! Grin

Raven, what do you all normally eat? Can you post a few examples and then we can help you make them SW friendly?

I go through phases of getting stuck in a rut. I have a list of meal ideas that I scribble into when something pops into my head. I'm not vegan, but I have a lot of vegan recipe books because they are full of ideas of things to do with veg.

Another thing I like to do is plan a meal around the speed vegetables, not the meat, so for example, I have a butternut squash that needs using up soon. I googled for recipes and found one for a risotto made with barley instead of rice, so that's going into my list of meal ideas and I'll probably make it next week.

Sixth day of SP. I'm not really hungry today and haven't eaten much so far. Breakfast was two hi-fi bars and a not-apple, because it was all soft and disgusting when I bit into it. Bleurgh.

EmilyK83 · 09/09/2016 13:12

Hi Raven! Exactly what Molly said - so many recipes can be adapted to be SW-friendly, so whether it's burgers, lasagne, fish and chips or curries that you're after, there'll be a low syn or syn free alternative out there Smile

OP posts:
RavenQueen · 09/09/2016 13:38

Normal week
Pasta and meatballs, so I would think quite easy to adapt, although it was jar sauce
Burgers, again adaptable. If i can make meatballs burgers aren't much different and obviously SW chips
Chicken salad with potatoes etc but with summer coming rapidly to an end this will no doubt be booted, so might replace with a curry.
Hmmmm now I'm stuck so throw ideas at me. There's 5 of us me OH, 3 kids 3,5 and 8 although usually a night or 2 I end up cooking something totally different for 1 of them 🙄

manicpixiestargirl · 09/09/2016 13:55

Basin, any chance you could share the recipe for the macaroni cheese? I have been looking for a good one!

Today, we have breakfast provided at work so I've treated myself - normally I just have fruit and yoghurt! But I don't think I've been too naughty. Unlikely to eat much at all later as I'm going straight from normal work to my second job (at a pub) and won't get home until around 3am. So we're looking at:

B - 1x slice wholemeal toast (HexB) with peanut butter (calling it 4) and 1 crumpet (4.5) with Marmite (FREE! who would have thought :D) and a pear
Snack (AM) - apple
Lunch - Slimming World meatballs and pasta ready meal, 2x tangerines, apple, Diet Coke
Dinner (in the early hours!!) - will just grab some ham slices, pickled onions and raspberries out of the fridge to avoid the dreaded takeaway

Not sure about HexA, maybe some Babybel Lights if I fancy them at 3am? :)

BELLAARA · 09/09/2016 13:59

ALemonyPea- thank you. Looking forward to trying that.
