How was WI Emily?

Molly the bottles of BBQ sauce can work out really low in syns per portion if you check first. I've also recently used a packet mix version which you do with passata and ketchup which was lovely. I've done the SW version before but it was a bit runny for me so I think it's worth a few syns for a good sauce.

And one thing I bear in mind when we have people round is that I don't have to make everything totally SW-friendly; I just don't eat all of it. So I would buy coleslaw but might not have any or have a huge pile of grated cheese but leave it if I can't weigh it for HexA. it's okay to have things on your table for others that you don't have to eat :)

OctoberOctober · 23/08/2016 10:51

Hi all

I've just joined SW via online . A little baffled by all the combinations but trying to meal plan a few days in advance. Keeping a written note of all food eaten too.

I want to check out the convenience stuff in Iceland too (once I've worked out where one is!). Are they are frozen or are some chilled?

MollyRedskirts · 23/08/2016 11:57

Very good point, Wing! I'm making brownies for a pudding and hell yes I'm having one (I'm going to syn the entire recipe and be horrified), but I bought myself light squirty cream, but everyone else will have ice cream as an option.

Stressy day today. Eldest DS has been hiding wet, wee'd on clothes in his wardrobe. He is six, has an ASC and still has night pull ups but is feeling like he's too old for them, so he's been taking the pull ups off and hiding the results of wetting himself. We're used to a wet bed as the pull ups aren't great, but discovering the clothes this morning was grim. He is absolutely being made to be responsible for washing and drying everything (all the clothes he owns need washing now!) but it's taking a lot of supervision and we have workmen in from the landlord as everything has gone wrong at once. I could have done without that today.

Breakfast was two Liberté yogurts for 2 syns, which wasn't enough, so I had a bowl of grated apple, pomegranate left over from last night's salad, mixed with sweetened quark and cinnamon, with a crumbled apple and sultana Harvest Morn bar for 1/2 B. It was lovely and I'm going to make it a regular breakfast.

October, everything in the SW range is frozen. I love the chimmichurri burgers. They're quite thick so I like to slice them in half and layer them with mushrooms and fried onions.

WingDefence · 23/08/2016 13:52

I wish there was an Iceland near me as the burgers sound lush.

I do that too Molly when i'm baking - calculate the total syns as best I can then work out per portion. It's our village show this weekend which I'm entering oat crunchies for (not that I actually knew what they were when I put my name down Hmm) and also for non-bake traybake I'm entering the same as I won first prize with last year, Nigella's crunchie and salted peanut chocolate bars. Don't look at that link if you are hungry!

So I'll have to taste to make sure they are okay but I won't be eating the rest!

Today B overnight 5 scan bran crumbled into ff lemon yogurt, straws and bluebs.
L just made a huge batch of free and speedy mushroom soup as there was a pack of basics mushrooms reduced to 50p in Sainsburys this morning. It's delish.

EmilyK83 · 23/08/2016 14:08

Basin - you were doing amazingly before, that weight'll come off in no time!

1lb off for me today - which I'm happy with given a three course meal last Tues night and a wedding buffet on Sat! 4st 11lb gone now, 3lb to target. Would love to hit it next week but 3lb is asking too much I think!

Wing - best burgers I've had so far have been homemade ones: literally just beef mince, pepper and more salt than you think you need. So good!

OctoberOctober · 23/08/2016 14:42

Wow Emily, v encouraging for a newbie to see that level of weight loss achieved!

WingDefence · 23/08/2016 15:48

Well done Emily! I did try making my own but they were so dry and the DCs complained (I didn't blame them :().

October if you are on instagram you can follow ladies who have lost 7/8/9+ stone. Their before/after photos are amazing. I bet Emily's would match them too!! Star

froubylou · 23/08/2016 16:13

Hello all

Well done Emily! You are an inspiration.

Todays plan

B. Coffee
L. 2 x wholemeal bread, salad, crabs ticks and salad cream.
T. Sw quiche when have made it, salad, new pots.

Really fancy a nice cold lager or cider today. Far too many syns though. Sigh.

EmilyK83 · 23/08/2016 16:38

Thanks October and Wing and Frouby!

Wing - I'd advise keeping them out the fridge for a little while before cooking - less likely to burn on the outside before cooking on the inside, and more likely to still be juicy...

Frouby - half a beer's only about 4.5 isn't it?

Progress pics to date - on the left is a holiday to Cornwall last Sept, on the right is today - size 18 to a size 10...

ALemonyPea · 23/08/2016 16:42

4.5lb down for me, and got my 3.5 stone award. That's 9lbs in two weeks! Really buzzing. Usually I age in in the holidays, but I've been good this time. Got loads of compliments today, a member even stopped me in my car to tell me I looked good. On cloud 9 today.

I think my body has finally realised I'm in it for the long term and given up trying to keep a hold of my fat.

ALemonyPea · 23/08/2016 16:44

Oh Emily you look amazing!

WingDefence · 23/08/2016 17:08

Emily WOW! ALemony - fantastic loss! Grin

Frouby I think a small (220ml ish) bottle of Stella is 4.5. Well worth it if you check the apps of whatever you fancy drinking?

IneedAdinosaurNickname · 23/08/2016 17:19

Right. Redid my measurements. My waist is showing 3.5 inches down today despite not being any smaller than a month ago at the weekend :/ can't remember if my chest measurement was over or under my boobs! If it was over then I've lost an inch. If it was under I've lost 3. Hoping it was under as I don't want to lose my boobs!
But im back on it.

B - large portion of melon
L - toast (hex b) with tomatoes beans and ego.
S - crisps (one of my downfalls) 7.5 syns I think.

Will do jacket potato for dinner. With loads of salad. Not sure what topping. Might go and buy some Tuna.

Need to drink more water as I'm always dehydrated.

BasinHaircut · 23/08/2016 17:47

Emily you really are inspirational! I hope you are suitably proud of yourself.

First day back has gone ok so far. As expected I've been far too busy to think much about food except what I took to work to eat. There was cake in the office but I resisted .

I definately haven't drunk enough water today though. I'm doing the last run of week 1 c25k this evening but I'm waiting till the sun sets as it's roasting out! Need to hydrate....

calzone · 23/08/2016 18:13

Well done Em..... I need to learn how to maintain.

B.....bran flakes with raspberries and toffee yoghurt
L...pulled pork, couscous, roasted vegetables
Banana
Peach
D....roast chicken, jacket potato, salad

Had a couple of g and ts sat in the garden and a slurp of dps lager and it's taken the edge off.

Lager is the main reason I am fat so trying to keep off it permanently. Was having 2 or 3 cans 5 days a week. At 9 syns a can it was well over what I should be having never mind the effect of the alcohol.

We do like a drink at home. It's my only vice since giving up smoking 3 years ago. We rarely go out but have a drink probably 5 nights out of 7. Switched from lager to wine and was doing 3/4 of a bottle on drinking nights. Which was just as bad.

Now I have 1 or 2 35ml gin with slimline tonic instead. Which is 3.5 syns so much better. I very rarely go over that and feel it next morning if I do!

I am struggling with the school holidays though. Not to drink too much but to stay on plan. I am either not eating enough in the day or eating the wrong things because we are out and about all the time. 2 weeks and they are back though so if I can just maintain I will happy.

We are away to butlins on the last weekend though. In the hotel so no self catering at all. Just going to enjoy it and try and make healthier choices even if they aren't strictly on plan.

Then hit it hard in September. It's my birthday in October and would love to be at least 10 lbs lighter by then.

EmilyK83 · 23/08/2016 18:55

Bloody hell Lemony that's amazing! Going to have a read back through your food for last week to try and kickstart a bigger loss for myself! Grin

Dinosaur - I always have a big batch of chilli con carne portioned out in the freezer, love it as a jacket topping!

Frouby, you can def do that by your birthday! We're all rooting for you!

I'm off to make a very off plan Mac and cheese. I've missed it so much - this is my treat instead of going out tonight!

EmilyK83 · 23/08/2016 19:38

Oh ffs. Even my Mac and cheese is on plan - 6.5 syns plus HexA. More cheese needed next time I think!!

ALemonyPea · 23/08/2016 21:53

Haha Emily! I'm the same, go in for a little cheat, and still stay within my sins 🙄

EmilyK83 · 23/08/2016 21:57

Just feels wrong having a cheat night on plan, haha! Or maybe it feels right. I don't know! Have made it up to 12.5 syns now, so a bit happier 😛

PositiveAttitude · 23/08/2016 22:33

Some excellent losses!! Well done ladies. I did a 2lb loss tonight and DD1 managed to get the 3.5lb off that she had gained last week - she says she did not deserve to gain it last week and she did not deserve to loss it this week, so swings and roundabouts and we are both happy! Smile
I have just had a very off plan meal - and feel sick and am regretting it totally! Why do I do this to myself? I should have learnt by now that I will feel sick afterwards and it is just not worth it. Blush

I traveled home today, but as I walked through the door DD2 phoned upset because baby had been taken into emergency theatre because his bowel rupturing. I feel so torn - I want to be with her again now! Sad

ALemonyPea · 23/08/2016 22:54

Well done Positive, and your DD. how worrying about the baby, thinking of you all.

BasinHaircut · 23/08/2016 23:02

Flowers positive.

Day one done here. Stayed on plan no problem. Not sure exactly how many syns but definately not over 15. In the end it was only Mayo and flour in my falafel to syn as went for that Fage total yoghurt which is free for breakfast.

maygirl · 23/08/2016 23:50

Thanks ladies, I am quite muscly , but I was before when I weighed a lot less so its defiantly xs fat making me overweight! I think i will get to end of current count down and decide what to do. It won't feel like a success to take target now, more like a necessity!

Well done Emily and Lemony!
Flowers Positive, hope surgery went well and baby recovers quickly.

Has anyone tried the new coconut HiFi?

B baked oats with berries, 1 syn heB .
2 mile run. Milk 2 syns
L red cabbage salad and chicken
Out for dinner with the girls, had a big salad with HeA+ some syns halloumi, no oily dressing but were a few avocado chunks so extra syns. wine 10 syns,

EmilyK83 · 24/08/2016 06:58

May - I love the new Hifi bars - and I'm not normally a coconut fan!

Well done Positive, and hope there's positive news for DD2 and the little one soon.

Today's plan for me:

B - melon
L - picky bits from the fridge and miso soup (2)
D - potato, chickpea and spinach curry with rice and veg

Milk as HexA, Hifis as HexB... Finished yesterday on 12.5 syns, will be somewhere between 10 and 15 today!
