Wing, that was a long tale, but I've read and inwardly digested!
Regarding re-setting your target, you don't seem quite happy yet that you've lost as much weight as you could, and it would be a shame to not feel completely satisfied that you're where you want to be.
The Slimming World ethos is all about being in control, and each of us choosing the target that we think is right for us.
However, my Consultant's advice to people in group is to get to the weight at which you feel comfortable, then set your target at three pounds below that- so , wherever you are in your target range, you feel comfortable.
You might decide to move to a group for that last few pounds: the change could be a boost for you.
I work shifts and can't always get to group, but I just let my consultant know, and there's no fee.
Or you might be able to make it to a different group.

WingDefence · 22/08/2016 18:20

Thanks chough and I think you're right. I set it at 10 when I couldn't imagine losing 2 stone but I do feel like I would like to lose some more. I think I'll set it for 9.10 which is only another five pounds (so another five weeks for me at least probably Grin) but if I want to go lower by 3lbs after that I can.

I do remember about 15 years ago being 9 stone and it was too thin for me pre children, still smoked and went clubbing a lot which all helped keep the weigh down so I really don't imagine I'll want to or be able to go lower than 9.7.

ALemon thanks too for your comments. As I've paid in advance until mid October I suppose I'm not in as much hurry to get free membership but that's noted for future group membership :)

Cheers!

chough · 22/08/2016 18:29

Wing, that sounds like a very sensible decision.
Those last five pounds will be the ones that make the difference to how you feel about yourself.
For me, the last few pounds are the ones that I can see on my hips! Those lumps and bumps will be gone when those pounds are off.

EmilyK83 · 22/08/2016 18:35

Completely agree with that decision Wing! I set my target at 10 stone originally - as I got closer, I changed it to 9st 9 - like you, I think I'd be happy with 9.5 but this gives me some flexibility and gets me to target earlier!

WingDefence · 22/08/2016 18:41

Thanks both of you :) Feel happy and I can always drop it one more to match you Emily if I fancy!

Forgot to eat scan bran today but have made overnight SB for tomorrow. Have had my HexB and DH made lasagne so probably made a syn-ful proper white sauce so don't want any more syns today.

maygirl · 22/08/2016 19:02

Glad baby OK Positive. Sounds sensible Wing! I'm going the other way and thinking of upping my target as I don't seem to be able to get under 10 stone. Been hovering at 10.1-10.3 for ages. My targets 9 st 7 but might change it to 10 stone. Feels a bit Blush though!
B baked marmalade oats 1 syn. HeB. HeA milk in coffees
Zumba + Pilates
L chicken with courgetti, carrots, brocolli, green beans, 1syn pesto
Nectarine, grapes, strawberries
D turkey stirfry, rice,
6 syns milk chocolate.

EmilyK83 · 22/08/2016 19:20

Ha Wing! The only reason I went for 9st 9 is because it'd be a nice round 5 stone loss. 4lb to go, I think it'll only be a 1lb loss max at weigh in tomorrow.

May - nothing wrong with upping your target! Was talking to my sister at the weekend - she started running a few years ago. She weighs exactly the same as she did before she started but she's more confident in her body, as she's much more toned and her pouchy stomach is now flat. Sounds like you do a lot of exercise, so it could be that the muscle's what's keeping you at that weight? Not a bad thing!

WingDefence · 22/08/2016 19:31

may don't be Blush at upping your target. I follow others on Instagram who have struggled with the last few pounds and called target so it is totally whatever you feel happy with. You've done brilliantly!

IneedAdinosaurNickname · 22/08/2016 19:33

Argh. I've totally fallen off the wagon the last couple of weeks. I've had some days where Ive stuck totally to plan. Others where I've been a bit naughty eg a cream tea, and some where I've gorged on 4 packets of crisps. My scales at home show a 2lb loss in 3 weeks but I don't trust them anyway.

Also did my measurements for the 1st tome since I started. Apparently I've lost an inch off my boobs and nothing else.
Help. I'm feeling totally disheartened. :(

wishingchair1 · 22/08/2016 20:25

Hi all,
Everyone seems to be really focused.
Wing, i think i may be on a similar route as you. So that sounds great really. Of course the sooner the better, but more realistic.
I would like a short term goal for near end of sept, for our anniversary.
Could anyone review my menu for me.
B. Ml and wheatbran (under the 60g) buying scales tomorrow.
Snack. Blueberry, strawberry and blackberry snack pot.
L. Subway salad. Just salad, no olives, extra onion and pickle with hot chilli sauce. Not sure if sauce is synned.
D. Large mushroom, topped with slice of tom, balsamic vinegar with puy lentils (1/2 a pack merchant gourmet. Think 1 syn for half pack) mushrooms with garlic, stock and quark (bit mushroom strogannoff style)

Latte with semi skimmed milk as hea

It was a hungry day.

chough · 22/08/2016 20:37

wishingchair, I would be hungry if I only ate this all day.
What is MI?

wishingchair1 · 22/08/2016 21:05

Muller light.
I'm stuffed with it chough. The wheatbran really fills me up, so i thought that was a lot. Ie ate my lunch, when not particularly hungry , more of a case of wanting to have the salad as they are tasty (i don't have to make them).
Being vegetarian i lack the protein i think. Fibre part working ok. I have ff cottage cheese for the protein, but cheese is my down fall. I'm trying to only have carbs one meal.
Tomorrow i plan either
Ml and wheatbran again or have bought the crisp bran wholegrain. Is the hexb 6 of them. I have low low spreadable mature cheddar also. Wonder if i can have 3 of them and then a bit of wheat bran.

Think i am just a bit bunged up after the weekend eating bread and wine, so just feel bloated. Sorry too much info...

BasinHaircut · 22/08/2016 22:12

Hi all, I'm back in it tomorrow after going AWOL for several months! Will weigh in the morning and report in

EmilyK83 · 22/08/2016 23:03

Wishing - I heard a tip recently that if you grate your HexA cheddar into a pot of quark, mix it up and leave it in the fridge overnight, the quark will infuse with cheesy goodness and give you more for your cheese cravings. And more protein, I guess! I'm yet to try it, though...

Good luck for tomorrow Basin - will be thinking of you while I'm at the dreaded weigh in too!

EmilyK83 · 22/08/2016 23:04

Dinosaur - think how good you feel when you do a whole week on plan...and be strong! Calzone used to have a big stick to beat people with, maybe we need to get that out again... ;)

IneedAdinosaurNickname · 22/08/2016 23:09

Thanks Emily a big stick could be what's needed. Doesn't help that I'm about to switch to night shifts and always want to eat crap when I work nights!

As an aside... free foods. We can eat as much as we like right? I guess I shouldn't eat a meal that feeds 4 all to myself over the course of an evening?
Or 2 portions of pasta?
My portion control is awful!

calzone · 22/08/2016 23:33

Ahem.....

MollyRedskirts · 23/08/2016 00:10

Positive, I'm glad baby is ok. Flowers

Thanks for the meal input, I think I will end up doing pulled pork and wraps. I think the SW pulled pork recipe is atrocious, but I start out with their sauce, then customise it as I go along. I really need to write down exactly how I make it.

Two doughnuts and a caramel pudding met a tragic end in my mouth today, but I am owning it. I've worked out the syns and recorded it in my journal. I didn't have breakfast (workmen in the house) and dinner was salad based, so it shouldn't be too bad. I'm trying to internalise that it's fine to have the occasional slip up and let it go, rather than use it as an excuse to carry on eating crap.

MollyRedskirts · 23/08/2016 00:22

Dinosaur, yes you can eat as much free food as you like, but ONLY if you're including 1/3 speed food with most of your meals, and only if you're eating to your appetite. You need to include the speed food as it acts as a natural 'control' by limiting the amount of higher calorie free foods you're having.

I know two people who have successfully lost weight by not having speed foods, but they both have IBS and can't tolerate lots of fruit and veg, and it took them both a long time. It's definitely better to include it if you can.

If you're genuinely hungry and can eat two portions of pasta - have it! As long as you have at least 1/3 speed veg in there, it's great.

I never believed it when people talked about how your portion sizes naturally decrease over time, but it's true. Mine have got smaller, so you might find the same.

IneedAdinosaurNickname · 23/08/2016 00:39

Thanks molly 90% of the time I eat out of boredom. I was really really strict on myself for the 1st few weeks of sw. But have slipped back into old habits :(
I need to be strict on myself again. And maybe get the crochet out to keep my hands busy of an evening!

EmilyK83 · 23/08/2016 07:24

Dinosaur - is it worth preparing stuff in advance and having it ready to heat up when you're back from your shift? Might make you more likely to stick to plan and less likely to reach for the bad stuff?

Weigh in at 9.30 for me. After that, this is today's plan...

B - none
L - picky stuff: ham, salad, boiled eggs, HexB bread
D - macaroni cheese and salad (HexA plus extra - Tues nights are off-plan...)

IneedAdinosaurNickname · 23/08/2016 07:36

Yes that's a good idea Emily I'll try that. Along with taking fruit to snack on. Last time I did nights (which was before sw) I craved greasy carbs and kept going home via McDonald's Blush

BasinHaircut · 23/08/2016 09:10

Positive glad all is ok.

Morning all. I've just done my initial weigh in (I weigh at home and just do SW with old books and the www!) and it was.......

11st 13lbs 8oz. I'm really annoyed with myself that I allowed it to get basically right back to what it was at new year, but hey ho, onwards and downwards Grin

I'm glad calzone has the stick back out.

Meal plan for today is:
B - berries, banana and yoghurt (will be syns as muller light is vile!)
L - huge salad (lettuce, carrot, peppers, cucumber, radish, beetroot) with small portion of cous cous and cooked meat
D - SW falafel with savoury rice, salad and wrap (HEXB), plus a dollop of light mayo which I'll syn.
Snack - will have a glass of whole milk as my HEXA tonight.

I'm trying to stop the habit of snacking during the day. I only really snack at work but as that is 4 days a week it has quite a calorie impact! Work is crazy busy at the moment so thankfully no time to think about snacking anyway!!

I also started couch to 5k last week which will hopefully help a bit

emwithme · 23/08/2016 09:17

Glad to hear your grandson's OK positive

Welcome back Basin

Dinosaur I have BIG portions - but they're smaller than they used to be, always have at least 1/3 speed food (I love veg - always have - it's the chocolate and shit like that that's my downfall). I have started tracking my food online (using My Fitness Pal) - everything had just slowed down (and as I was only really losing 1 lb a week, there wasn't much space for it to slow) and I now eat the SW way, write it down in my journal and track it online. I find it very easy to mindlessly over-eat (and even speed foods have calories, particularly fruit) so it's a way for me to work out what a "normal" portion of something is, now I'm getting closer to target.

Made a chicken tikka masala last night using the Iceland tub of sauce. It was REALLY nice - tasted like a proper jar curry. I made a giant pot full (5 hearty portions) so used two tubs and bulked out the chicken with veggies. Even DH liked it (although he knows better than to whinge about added veg - I chop it chunky enough that it can be seen and he can eat around it if he wants to) which is good!

Today's food:

B: Breakfast muffins
L: Ham salad, apple, pear, satsumas
D: Left over curry and chips (actifry).

HEA: Milk
HEB: Not sure - choice of ryvita, cashew nuts, dried apricots or hifi bars. Will see how I feel later.

BasinHaircut · 23/08/2016 10:00

Thanks em. Ive tried a couple of the SW curries from Iceland and have 2 more in the freezer to try too. So far so good, they were both really nice! They also made me realise how big my portions are as when DH and I shared one with some rice and veg it was plenty but much less than I'd have served if I was making it myself. I'm planning on sticking them on the meal plan once a week for the nights we need a quick dinner.
