Not going to shoot you, comeon, going to tell you that one day doesn't ruin a week - unless you let it. If you draw the line now, carry on tomorrow as if today hadn't happened rather than plummet into a guilt spiral and the associated vat of chocolate, then the damage will be minimal. Maybe tighten up on syns for the rest of the week (I can't remember what day your WI is).

Changed today to an SP day:

Dinner: Salmon fillet, roasted veggies (peppers, onion, mushroom, courgette, cherry tomato)
HEB1: Cashew nuts
HEB2: Hifi bars.

froubylou · 02/08/2016 18:51

Ah comeon, it's not too bad. Have you counted the syns? Do that, put a line under and move on.

Worst thing that can happen is you have a gain this week. I doubt it will be what you have lost so far so you are still winning!

WingDefence · 02/08/2016 20:54

Evening all - I've caught up on the thread but now can't remember what I wanted to say :( Emily I'm also excited about your consultant plans! Comeon, come on! Grin You haven't ruined anything. Keep on track and I'm sure you'll be okay? I know what it's like though to go only a bit off plan and then mentally feel like I might as well give up for the rest of the week. Rubbish brains...

So I'm on the scan bran recipes page on FB and it's really inspiring. Currently they are all raving about SB tiramisu and other similar layered SB desserts so I've put together overnight oats scan bran with a cherry ML yog plus FF yog and frozen fruit to see how it turns out. If it's edible I'll repeat for the next few days until the weekend as apparently you should stop the SB challenge two days before WI to {ahem} allow for the fibre to do it's thing...

On a different note, I've got to friends coming over for a DVD and natter evening tomorrow night. One is doing WW and the other one is happy to eat healthily with us so can anyone suggest any good snacks apart from just fruit? Recipes welcome! I was wondering whether strawbs with a quark & choc options dip would work and I've also just thought I have skewers so could do fruit kebabs but something that feels indulgent would be nice too so any other low syn ideas gratefully received :)

WingDefence · 02/08/2016 20:55

Oh and well done on losses and I was also interested to read about the old plan. It was one thing that put me off doing SW in the past and doing WW instead, all the red and green (was it essentially food combining?). I love this way now.

chough · 02/08/2016 21:19

The fruit with choc dip sounds nice: you could serve the dips individually in pretty teacups and top with syn- counted chocolate buttons.
Or meringues/ mini meringues are low-syn.

maygirl · 02/08/2016 22:25

You can have extra B choices for bf too abigwideworld! Heaven!!
How about SW 'haribo' Wing for a pic n mix substitute. If you do a selection of dips for fruit I can recommend tesco Sicilian lemon extract in sweetened quark, its a bit like cheesecake !
Today
B SW sweetened flan style thing again, using up more redcurrants (1syn for cooked fruit) served with the lemon extract sweetened quark described above and more fresh redcurrants
Half heA milk in coffee
L mussels (2syns) on plate of salad + small portion pasta and some brocolli.
Apple and 2 blue cheese lite triangles (other half HeA)
D SW pulled pork, added onions and peppers to slow cooker, HeB wholemeal roll, h/m coleslaw (0.5 syn) and more salad veggies.

maygirl · 02/08/2016 22:27

Or a third of a pot each of waitrose choc froyo for 5 syns each would be indulgent Wing!

PositiveAttitude · 02/08/2016 22:33

YAY!!! One very happy bunny here!! Grin Scan Bran is my friend. 5.5lb loss tonight and slimmer of the week. Grin

EmilyK83 · 02/08/2016 22:42

Wow Positive that's seriously amazing - well done!!

Wing - I made a scan bran tiramisu when I did the challenge (I wonder if you've seen my posts, haha!) - happy to share what I did if you want to give it a go!

Today's food was as on plan as I could be...

B - none (weigh in)
L - sushi pack from co-op (was out at a meeting - 1.5 syns) and lots of peppermint tea
D - meal out at Brasserie Blanc - squid salad, cod with tomato sauce, potatoes and summer veg, and cheese. I didn't eat most of the crackers, and I hadn't had my HexA, in my defence...

feralcat19 · 02/08/2016 22:54

Wing, how about hummus with chopped veggies? Drain a tin of chickpeas and mash or mix in a food processor with some quark, a garlic clove, ground pepper and a splash of lemon juice? I've also seen online a recipe which involves roasting a red pepper and then mixing that in with the chickpeas too for a bit of speed food.

First week's WI tonight and I lost 5 1/2lbs so feeling elated Smile! Only a gazillion more lbs to lose but I really want to make this work for me this time.

EmilyK83 · 03/08/2016 07:59

Amazing first week loss, feral - well done! Long may it continue!

Today's plan for me - going to do a few scan bran days this week to try and minimise damage from meal last night/bar opening we're going to tomorrow/wedding we're off to on Sat:

B - fruit
L - homemade carrot soup, scan bran (part HexB)
D - picnic-type meal - homemade chicken liver pate, 25g feta cheese (3), syn-free scotch eggs, veg sticks, pickles, gammon, scan bran (rest of HexB)

Skinny latte as HexA, no more than 3 extra syns of sweet stuff after dinner (probably a Hifi bar...)

WingDefence · 03/08/2016 08:02

Ooh the hummus sounds good. Plus fruit and dips in ramekins (don't have posh tea cups!). Nearest Waitrose is over ten miles away in the nearest city so FroYo not an easy thing to pop in and get :( Likewise nearest Tesco is 8 miles and I don't have the hour + I'd need to get there, shop and back either today.

Should've planned this better Grin

Positive and Feral those are brilliant losses! Well done!

Buttwing · 03/08/2016 08:12

Well done feral thats an amazing loss!!

Hmm not a great first week for me I've gained a pound and a half. It's pretty much deserved I think I've become a bit complacent so I'm going to write it all down and go back to basics.
I've also been having a good old think about what's stopping me losing the last stone and a half to get me to target. I feel a bit stupid saying this but I think I'm a bit nervous about getting to target and its holding me back. In my head all I've been thinking about for so long is when I get to target it will be great and all my problems will be solved. But what if I get there and they're not?
I realise I sound like a complete barmpot (as my dad used to say!) so feel free to edge slowly away!

Anyway menu for today-

B-Strawberries raspberries and a tablespoon of yogurt
L-chicken and bacon club sandwich and salad (crustless bread heb) melon
D-chilli and cauliflower rice and wholemeal pitta (heb) choc frozen yog

Twinklestar2 · 03/08/2016 08:18

Well done positive and feral, amazing losses Smile

Today's menu

Berries and mullerlight

Ham salad for lunch

Dinner is shepherds pie - packed with veg! - with broccoli on the side or chips and beans if OH cooks!

Snack on a mugshot if needed

EmilyK83 · 03/08/2016 08:36

You can get there Butt - you've been amazing so far! I can completely understand what you're saying...part of me thinks I'll get to target and I'll be a completely new person, which clearly isn't true Grin But the way I'm seeing it is that despite all the other crap in my life that I can't control, SW is one thing that I DO have control over, and that makes me feel good - makes me feel like when I hit target, I can turn that concentration and control over to something else and gradually make things better one by one. I know that sounds a bit hippy and stuff, which isn't me at all, but it's one of the things that's motivating me to keep going!

WingDefence · 03/08/2016 08:36

Butt that's very honest of you. I've seen on insta from a few people (who lost a lot of weight, 8 stone and more) that it has been hard to get their head into gear after reaching target. Perhaps have a talk to your consultant? Don't forget though, being at target has got to be better for your health?

I'm annoyed with myself - I only remembered my SB breakfast as I was pouring milk on my weetabix. Grr! 5x SB are 5.5 syns and 2x weetabix are 6 syns so will syn the scan bran and have it for lunch!

Back to the snack ideas - can you whip quark?

Lifeisontheup2 · 03/08/2016 09:23

Haven't posted for a little while, work etc has got in the way a bit!
Have maintained the last couple of weeks BUT have really noticed a difference in size with clothes etc. My 34 inch waist work trousers are loose and I'm going to have to buy a new belt as I'm way past the last hole. Don't want to order new trousers yet, will wait until I've been on holiday.
I've noticed my thighs and calves have a sort of hollow at the side now, haven't seen that for a good 10 years. Smile

Our letting agent came round the other day, I hadn't seen her for 3 months and she said had I lost weight, she then was mortified that she'd mentioned it but I was delighted.

PositiveAttitude · 03/08/2016 09:25

Wing I have tried to whip Quark and it doesnt really work - well, it didn't for me. It made it smoother, but nothing else really.

DD1's birthday today and instead of a birthday cake she wants a cheesecake, so I used Quark and low fat soft cheese mixed with white chocolate options and a little gelatine. It certainly looks good. DD1 has loads of her favourite chocolates to go on the top, but the rest of it is low/no syn, so I am hoping to have a slice and give her my chocolates on the top. For the birthday meal she went shopping and bought loads of BBQ type meats etc, and all on plan, so that's good, too. I am hoping to stay on this wagon today! Grin

WingDefence · 03/08/2016 09:34

That sounds delicious Positive - enjoy the BBQ too :)
Thanks for the tip about the quark. Nothing ventured nothing gained eh!

WingDefence · 03/08/2016 09:35

And yay for a NSV Life!

Lifeisontheup2 · 03/08/2016 09:43

I've been making a drink to have. I whizz up a large piece of fresh ginger, a lemon, 2 bunches of fresh mint and a large piece of cucumber in my nutibullet and then top it up with soda water.

Would this have any syns? I thought lemon was the one fruit that the juice wasn't synned but I'm starting to doubt myself.

I'm finding it's working really well on the persistent constipation I have on SW. Blush You wouldn't think it would be a problem with the amount of fruit and veg I'm eating.

EmilyK83 · 03/08/2016 09:46

Lemon juice definitely isn't synned, it's all good Smile

chough · 03/08/2016 09:47

Well done on wonderful losses.
Wing, my teacups are not posh! I just like vintagey things; they were only a couple of pounds .I like adding to the enjoyment of food by presenting it nicely, like my Wilko heart-shaped plate for serving my lunch on when at home.
Sainsbury's own quark does not need to be whipped: it's lovely and creamy, a completely different texture to any other brands of quark that I've tried.

chough · 03/08/2016 09:49

Life, sounds like you need to hit the scan bran.
No one is constipated after that.

Emptynestx2 · 03/08/2016 09:50

Yay I think it's a good week, weighed first thing and disappointed with 0.7kg loss then weighed a bit later and lost 2.7! Maybe I didn't read them right first time! Onward and upward to lose the next 4kg which is my interim goal.

Hope everyone else has had a good week so far. X
