Evening all. Having posted yesterday that my overindulgence in bread might have lead to a slight gain I went to WI tonight and had lost 1.5lbs! Even though my scales had dropped by about 1.5lbs between yesterday and today, and seems very in sync with SW, I was sure it was wrong. Nobody is more surprised than me because I really was playing fast and loose with my syns. I can only conclude that a ) I completely over estimate my synned foods and/or b) body magic really is magic!

The other thing I credit with helping me.is this thread. It really motivates me to keep going when I read all your successes, ideas and issues. Thanks Slimmers! Star

WingDefence · 06/07/2016 21:20

Well done nomoreheroes :)

I've definitely gone over my syns today but tomorrow is another day, right?!

nomoreheroes · 06/07/2016 21:34

Absolutely Wing! Did you enjoy your extra syns? If you did, then don't worry and start again tomorrow. I think that in order for sw to work as a way of life and not just a weight loss tool, you've got to be able to indulge yourself and enjoy food without guilt, and just know you'll make different choices the next day to compensate and get back on track. Smile

WingDefence · 06/07/2016 22:02

Well not really - see above for silly breakfast mistake and then I've munched on some toffee popcorn with DS tonight in front of the football. But it might be 20 in total which I'm sure I can claw back over the next few days so I'm not going to guilt trip myself!

waitingforwombat · 06/07/2016 22:20

Welcome back Oriana! Don't assume that you will start putting on weight straight away - I lost until about 16 weeks then sts until last week (24 weeks), and my starting bmi was only 26. Have definitely slimmed on my face/ribs and all gain on boobs and bump.

Started to gain this week, and found it surprisingly hard. Which is ridiculous as I am clearly growing another human and of course I will gain, but definitely motivated by the scales. Has really knocked my willpower -been snacking again, eating cakes when out etc which I hadn't been doing. Need to give myself a talking to - this is why I gain weight, I hit a setback and then give in/turn to comfort eating. What is even more ridiculous is that I actually feel gross when I eat loads sugar/junk - sugar highs and lows really affect me and I feel much better/less sluggish when I eat well...

OrianaBanana · 07/07/2016 12:42

Well I'm hoping for a maintain next week as my last two weeks have been 1lb gains (rubbish rather than baby I am sure).

The taster evening was awkward - only 4 people brought something and one was a punnet of slightly off strawberries. Everyone tucked in though! Angry

WingDefence · 07/07/2016 14:29

Hi all

waiting don't go crazy - I used my pregnancies as an excuse to eat tons of cheese and peanut butter and stacked the weight on but it really isn't necessary for the baby to 'eat for two'! In fact I'd say SW has such a good focus on healthy eating that it's better to be on plan. Saying that though there must be some changes for pregnant ladies eg more calcium (double HexA?) etc?

WingDefence · 07/07/2016 14:32

I have been v good today as I presented at another conference this morning. Forgot to make overnight oats so only had a banana for breakfast, had three dried apricots and apple rings in the hotel when I got here as a snack then had a salmon steak and plain salad for lunch with just fruit salad afterwards (I really had to exercise my will power when faced with individual rhubarb and apple crumbles and custard :()

Oh and an apple at break time instead of one of the yummy freshly made choc cookies. Polish that halo! Grin

WingDefence · 07/07/2016 14:33

Oriana do groups have taster sessions often? What did you take? (Sorry if you've already said.)

OrianaBanana · 07/07/2016 14:41

Oh I typed a long response and it disappeared.

Basically we usually have them about 4 times a year, but we'd only just had one (for man of the year?) so I did think it was a bit much. Also lots of regulars didn't stay (footie/tennis/pub/whatever) so we were a bit thin on the ground.

I made Thai pork patties from the EEExpress book which went down well (especially given there wasn't much else!). Smile

Pregnant women get an extra HExA and HExB per day (and shouldn't do SP days).

tabulahrasa · 07/07/2016 15:03

The tasters for competitions are on set weeks, there are 7 competitions, so they don't quite split evenly through the year.

Sometimes groups do extra ones for no particular reason though.

emwithme · 07/07/2016 17:49

WOO HOO! I did it!

I lost the lb needed for my 3 stone award. Am so happy! I can now go on holiday next week and gain it all back again drinking Wine and eating Cake ... well, I'll be doing a lot of walking too so it hopefully won't be too bad...

Our taster was a bit sparse too; our consultant is away today and so lots of people didn't stay, which is a shame as the stand-in lady (who covers all our consultant's holidays/days off so we get to see her a few times a year) really is lovely.

WingDefence · 07/07/2016 18:12

Thanks for that information. They sound fun Envy

Well done Em!

As I've been super good today I'm having a glass of rose on the train along with the salmon linguine I've now had three times in the past two weeks... Interestingly it's been cooked completely differently each time. Tonight has tons of sauce and looks double the size of the portion I had first time round...

WingDefence · 07/07/2016 18:18

And it was covered in a shedload of olive oil :( Bleugh what waste of syns.

froubylou · 07/07/2016 18:34

Wow well done Em! You must be chuffed to bits! Have a lovely holiday. And lots of syns.

I am trying to be super good the next few days. We are out at a pony show on sunday for the day. Lots of body magic but will eat like a pig too. And I know even if I pack lots of fruit and speed I will still have to eat sandwiches etc for the energy.

So today has been

B. Coffee
L. 3 anchovies, 7 olives
T. Pasta, tomato sauce and chicken with broccoli and cauliflower.

Heb is hifi and a in coffee.

ALemonyPea · 07/07/2016 20:09

Well done Em!

I'm aching all over, been to Clubbercise and it was so hot.

I was so annoyed with myself yesterday. Thought I'd be clever and make banana ice cream,N thinking bananas were free, but noooooo not if you eat them in any form but how they come. I thought it was just cooked and tinned fruit that was syned, but it's also mashed. Ridiculous waste of syns, especially when I had pugged out on 15 syns that day as well.

Today has been better. I could have carried on with my blue mood and pigged out, but I've picked myself up and carried on. Feel so embarrassed though as posted on the group FB page and loads jumped in telling. Me I was wrong. Not sure I can face group next week as leader will no doubt use it in class.

B: bacon, scrambled eggs, mushrooms
D: fruit and yoghurt, hifi bar
T: salmon stir fry

Protonbomb · 07/07/2016 20:29

Scotch Eggs!

Ok, Have not read through whole thread.....800+ posts it is a lot ladies!

The last time I was at SW one of the members gave this recipe, please feel free to post it elsewhere if you want.

She said that Marks and Sparks Scotch Eggs were 14 syns each....however if you used WW sausages (or similar - nutrition etc wise)
plain couscous instead of breadcrumbs and spray with frylight and bake in the oven they make quite spectacular scotch eggs!

Now, I would not normally eat these - but in terms of low syn (think they are a zero) and packing a protein, keeping you full punch, they are pretty awesome.

Can I recommend a small or medium boiled egg ? 1.5 sausage per egg, and just squash cooked couscous in til covered, spray with spraylight and cook in 180 oven for about 25 mins.
Even DH and DS love them and they don't even know their secrets.....

maygirl · 07/07/2016 23:32

Well done Em!!
Loads of us make that mistake lemony, don't feel bad. If you didn't eat loads of bananas in one go I wouldn't worry to much, and it's a 'clean eating' use of syns!
I had cashew butter today, high in syns but nutritious use of them I think! Can you delete the Facebook message, people might forget by next week especially if there are alot of posts over the weekend .
Maintained again last night :(
Today B 4 ryvita heB, some with 3 syns worth of cashew butter, some with 1 tsp st dalfour spread 1 syn. Ruby grapefruit
L SW brocolli quiche with cherry tomatoes
More grapefruit, cherries, benefit bar 3 syns
D roast chicken, roast fennel, salad
2 biscuits at late meeting 6 syns of unplanned eating .
Really busy at moment and not properly planning enough free food snacks.

Big kettlebells session for body magic, total agony!

Lifeisontheup2 · 08/07/2016 01:10

I really haven't fancied much today, had SW ready meal chilli but only managed about a third of it. Made egg, tomato and lettuce salad with quark as a mayonnaise substitute and didn't finish that. Had one Activia 0% yoghurt. Had a small instant hot chocolate whilst queuing in A&E, not sure how many Syns that would be, it was very weak.

ALemonyPea · 08/07/2016 08:29

I've already deleted it. Just feel so embarrassed and silly.

Was too busy rushing around this morning so didn't have breakfast and have to go food shopping. So that'll end well Confused

pippinandtog · 08/07/2016 09:04

Proton, my consultant advises that recipes like that need to be synned as they are "tweaks",ie ingredients being used not in the way they are intended to be used ( the couscous).
She tells us to ask ourselves whether our non-SW friends would make crisps out of lasagne, scones out of Smash, etc ( or Scotch eggs out of couscous).

Lifeisontheup2 · 08/07/2016 11:20

Pippin does that mean that the quark I use as a substitute for mayonnaise need to be synned? It's not using it in the way it was meant to be used but I'll be a tad miffed if I'm supposed to syn it.

ALemonyPea · 08/07/2016 11:34

My group leader says tweaks are OK every now and again, but if you're using them every day, then you're doing the plan wrong and should be syned. Once a week tweaks are fine.

Quark instead of Mayo is fine. It's not a tweak, more a substitute from a high calorie ingredient to a low one.

You could always use breadcrumbs from a HEB product for breadcrumbs on the scotch egg.

pippinandtog · 08/07/2016 11:34

I certainly wouldn't syn quark, but I understand what you mean.
Lots of SW recipes are made with substitute ingredients, like your mayonnaise, which sounds lovely.
Perhaps Proton's consultant would advise re the Scotch egg recipe, as they do sound nice.
I think it's a bit of a grey area, but it's something that members often get picked up on in my class.

tabulahrasa · 08/07/2016 11:41

"Pippin does that mean that the quark I use as a substitute for mayonnaise need to be synned?"

That's not misusing it, using a cream cheese or yoghurt as a salad dressing isn't a completely alien thing to do with it and you're not changing how it would be eaten, there's nothing really you can do to quark that would be changing it...condense it maybe? Lol

Couscous on scotch eggs or bananas replacing cream in ice cream are different, partly because what you're making with them are snacks, not meals for starters.
