Thanks Wing - and nice work on the dress!

One of the girls in my group lost 4.5lb this week after doing the scan bran challenge - 5 scan bran a day as HexB choice for 5 days. I'm giving it a go, starting today!

B - none
L - 5 scan bran, seasoned quark, tomatoes, radishes, chicken, 3 Mini Cravings (1.5)
D - Erm. Pizza. We're sharing one and I'm making a massive salad for us to have with it, so better than normal Tues night off plan meals! Will count the cheese as my HexA, and no more syns after that..

gadget1974 · 21/06/2016 14:00

Good afternoon, haven't posted in a while, started at 17st3lb about 5 weeks ago - hopefully will hit 15st10lb at tonights weigh in.

HAd a bad week last week as it was our wedding anniversay, then out for dinner with work the next day and a weekend at our friends which involved a pub crawl - net result as a 0.5lb loss - this week I have been back on plan and even managed an SP day.

ALemonyPea · 21/06/2016 14:01

2lb loss for me this week. Chuffed with that as my scales said half a lb. only 1.5 for my club 10 and 3.5 for my 2 stone, so going to be extra good this week, no cheat day for me today.

Wing, your porridge drama made me laugh, I can imagine doing the same thing. I'd have also eaten the carrot cake.

I've bought some peanut hifi bars, and they are amazing. No more Alpen for me, these bad boys are going to help curb my straying I reckon until they get discontinued

B- Peanut hifi and fruit at group after WI
D: ham,mpeasc pudding, salad, 3% salad cream (3 syns)
T: M&S stew steak, new potatoes and veg

Going to try do alternate SP days to see if that has any effect.

EmilyK83 · 21/06/2016 14:36

Gadget - a loss is great for an off plan week!

Well done Lemony, that Club 10 is yours next week!

Just had a congratulatory text from MIL saying "oh well done, not long till your target" (I set my target at 10 stone when I started, thinking I couldn't reach it - I'm now 10st 10.5) - told her I'm thinking of lowering it as I'm still not comfortable with where I am. She told me I shouldn't. It's not as if I look anorexic ffs - I'm 5'6 and 11 stone is right at the top of a healthy bmi. I'm going to ignore her...

Comeonmommy · 21/06/2016 14:38

Sorry to keep chipping in with questions but as a HEB, how many hi-fi bars are you allowed? I thought it was 2 but I've noticed people logging then as 1/2.......would love them to be half - absolutely love the popcorn one!

nomoreheroes · 21/06/2016 14:47

Mommy, I think it's two hifi bars for your HexB. But if you had say, just 1 Weetabix at breakfast and one hifi bar, that would also be 1 HexB in total. So 1 hifi bar counts as half your HexB though my consultant told me you shouldn't split your HexB

Buttwing · 21/06/2016 14:47

Emily it's so annoying when people do thatAngry

At 5"6 the lowest you are allowed to go is 8stone12 so it would be fine to go lower, I only know this because I used to think I was 5"6 and then I randomly grew an inchConfused anyway I'm 5"7 and my target is 9stone 13 I just need to be bellow 10

Comeon you can have two of the hifi lights so the choc orange, rocky road, lemon, jam role poly and a few others.
It's just one of the peanut ones though I believe they are really nice though but I prefer having two because I'm greedy!

Buttwing · 21/06/2016 14:48

I think the popcorn one is two.

Buttwing · 21/06/2016 14:50

Sorry what I meant was I think you can have two bars.

If you syn them a healthy b choice is 6syns so a peanut one would be 6, and the hifi lights would be 3syns each so the popcorn one would be 3.

Kenworthington · 21/06/2016 15:03

Oh my life to top my terribly bad week off I've just had a three course lunch in Jamie's Italian. I have ZERO willpower. This week started so well after wi but by the weekend it had gone to shit with TWO visits to McDonald's and Burger King, my own body weight in champagne and cocktails. And now this lunch. Literally, I am appalled at myself. Blush

ALemonyPea · 21/06/2016 15:10

Ah Ken! Draw a line under this week and start again. You know you can do it. We know you can as well.

I bought peanut and salted caramel hifi bars and they are 6 syn ones so just one a day, or 2 if doing an sp day. I wish they'd bring out popcorn as an HEB. I could live off popcorn.

Kenworthington · 21/06/2016 15:23

I had to write off last weeks too 😂 this is so not going to well for me lol

Comeonmommy · 21/06/2016 16:27

I personally think that is where slimming world fails......it assumes we have will power!!!!!! Have just bought my dd smartie cones......will power failed......6syns it is then!!!!

maygirl · 21/06/2016 17:50

Hi everyone
B porridge heB raisins 2 syns, Apple, cinnamon, maple 1 syn heA milk
L salmon pasta salad, loads raw veggies, feta 3 syns.
Snack benefit bar 3 syns, mini cucumber, raw pepper, 3 sweets 3 syns
D slow cooker again, morrocan veg tagine, 1 syn for apricots with brown rice
total 13 syns
Got an interview tomorrow, determined not to stress eat tonight!!!

MamOfTwo · 21/06/2016 19:34

Back on plan, at last! A question for the cooks amongst you - so many SW recipes seems to involve garlic, onion and chili - these foods are not always my friend Blush so is there anything I can substitute for them instead?

wafflingworrier · 21/06/2016 20:32

Quick question, it says in my book all beans r free but not super speedy food, how about green beans? R they speedy because they're a veggie or are they not?
I figured beans means as in baked beans or kidney beans, bot veggie beans?!
Thanks :)

KittyOShea · 21/06/2016 20:58

Good question waffling- I assume green beans are speed but could be wrong.

Mam I love cooking but also love the things you hate so could be way off the mark here but how about leeks to replace onions, basil to replace garlic and I have no idea how to replace chilli.

Have to add 5 syns to my total (now 12) for a sneaky extra slice of toast!

EmilyK83 · 21/06/2016 21:02

You can do it Ken - once you get into the swing of it and see a good loss it'll spur you on to keep going!

Butt - it's so annoying. People keep saying "oh don't take it to extremes" - I have no plans to do that, I just want to be comfortable with how I look!!

Hope the interview goes well tomorrow, may!

Mam, if you like a bit of heat but not chilli you could try something like paprika or cayenne? Could also substitute onions with leeks - same with garlic - or try garlic powder if that works for you?

Waffling - bean sprouts, French beans, green beans, mangetout, runner beans and sugar snap peas are all speed - the others are all free!

EmilyK83 · 21/06/2016 21:03

Also - latest progress pic! Happy so far!

Hi all

Today's menu

Fruit and fibre and skimmed, coffee

Pork and salad for lunch

Dinner was courgetti bolognese

Snacked on mini cheddars, fat free yogurt, fruit.

Twinklestar2 · 21/06/2016 21:09

ps Emily you look great!

Kenworthington · 21/06/2016 21:24

Emily- amazing progress well done!!
I really wanted to like courgetti but I couldn't stand the taste. Are you meant to boil it (as I did) or peehaps fry it??

wafflingworrier · 21/06/2016 21:28

Emily that is an amazing progress picture! Well done! I'm just starting out but feeling very motivated, thanks Emily and kitty for the help, I was sat filling in my sheet for the day and my heart fell when I thought the green beans weren't speedy foods! Phew!
Good luck to everyone and keep up the good work :)

nomoreheroes · 21/06/2016 21:30

Emily you look great - you can be my thinspiration as I think I'm close to your before look (though not sure of your weight in that...I'm currently 12st 3.5lbs and 5'3" and have a preliminary goal of 10st 7lbs...still above the ideal BMI I think but at that weight I'm actually a comfy 12, which I'd be happy with).

Mamoftwo, if you can't onions and garlic I imagine leeks and spring onions are out too. It depends on what you're cooking but you could try celery and fresh herbs e.g. in spag bol or other Italian dishes. Try fresh ginger and maybe coriander in stir fries. For chilli or Mexican dishes, lots of dried paprika, cumin and coriander will give you flavour though not heat - can you take hit sauces like tabasco or sweet chilli? For European dishes e.g. casseroles, carrots and celery and again, lots of fresh herbs and you'll never know there's no onion in there. Hope this helps.

PositiveAttitude · 21/06/2016 21:35

It is so encouraging to read everyone's posts on here. I am sorry I have not been around, but work has been manically busy plus I am cramming in revision for a big exam in 2 weeks. I saw someone else up thread was studying too - what are you studying?
Even the posts where you are struggling are encouraging, because I know I will have times when I will struggle and I know others have been there before me.

First WI today (took me a few days to realise that you were not all going to your local Womens Institute meetings!! Blush ) and I lost a total of 4.5lb. I am well chuffed, especially as I ate out for 3 evening meals out of 7 last week! Shock I have not found it too difficult now I have worked out what I am doing and I am determined to make this work!

I have a friend who has been a very serious drinker for the past 30 years + and last year she suddenly woke up one morning and decided she was not going to drink again. (she drank 100 + units a week) She went through hell for a few weeks, but never felt that she wanted to drink and she has not touched a drop since. She says it was like a switch had been turned on in her head. I am seriously hoping that the same sort of thing happens to me and my attitude to food.
