Lemony do you have a recipe for
Baked oats? Do you have to use sweetener?

ALemonyPea · 19/06/2016 21:02

Baked oats

35g oats
Small pot of fat free yoghurt, I use 0% Activia vanilla
1 egg
3 heaped spoons sweetener (I don't like it, but is ok in this)
Fruit (I use 50g blueberries for 1 syn)

Cook gas Mark 6 for 35 minutes

I prefer it hot. I usually make up 2 batches at a time and fridge half for the next day.

maygirl · 19/06/2016 21:19

I don't ever use the sweetener to cook the baked oats, ( after I forgot the first time and they tasted fine!) I put frozen raspberries in usually (100g 1 syn) then add sweet freedom syrup ( a bit like agave, a fruit based syrup) to serve and its sweet enough. I eat it cold as I can't wait 30 mins to eat in morning lol!

emwithme · 19/06/2016 21:31

wing I don't look like a satsuma, but the more today has gone on, the more I am resembling a radish. I (stupidly) didn't put any sun cream on it was fucking cloudy and my face is P-I-N-K Angry

nomoreheroes · 19/06/2016 21:31

Hello all...loads of new names, just catching up with everyone's weekend and some of the tips. Been meaning to try baked oats...might give them a go tomorrow. Anyone made them with apple and cinnamon? I reckon that world be yum. Would grated carrot work for a carrot cake style muffin??? Oh, the possibilities...Grin

It's all gone to pot here this weekend. Time of the month = craving carbs. Meals have been on plan (made the SW kfc style chicken with couscous - very tasty) but have had quite a few slices of toast and peanut butter. Blush God it was bloody lovely though! And of course WineWine and more Wine. And a small piece of apple tart and icecream today as my Sunday dinner turned out horrible. All 105 syns (and maybe more) gone, just like that, poof. Am rather cross at myself but sod it. I will have SP days tomorrow and Tue if I can and see if I can claw back some of the damage. Confused

maygirl · 19/06/2016 21:35

For overnight oats there's some ideas here twochubbycubs.com/overnight-oats-a-collection/
I've tried the cafe mocha and the frozen fruit ones so far. I also like it with grated apple and cinnamon.
Hungry for breakfast!

maygirl · 19/06/2016 21:44

Yes I've done baked oats with apple and cinnamon. Supposed to syn the cooked apple though, but 1 small apple isn't many

KittyOShea · 19/06/2016 22:40

Thanks for the naked oats recipes. Definitely going to try these!

Rupeomatic · 19/06/2016 23:38

Hey everyone - checking back in after having a couple of crazy weeks. Haven't really stayed on plan, but ready to get my head back in the game now. Put on 2.5 lbs - but that is fair enough.

Catching up with everyone's posts - am so impressed with all the food diaries, will be nabbing some ideas and inspiration Smile

Morning all! WI today and I lost a pound. My journey is quite slow so I'm okay with hat. It doesn't help that because I work from home in the middle of nowhere I basically get no steps in because i have to drive almost everywhere! Must must get back onto Davina this week.

Having said all that I'm down in London for work this week for three days (today, tomorrow and Wed) so I have brought my lunch with me today pre-meeting and will have to keep an eye on things the next few days. Staying at my cousin's tomorrow night and that'll be a feast no doubt!

B weetabix (run out of fruit)
L leftover tuna pasta salad
D whatever they serve me on the train...

ALemonyPea · 20/06/2016 09:24

Today isn't going well. Tyre puncture so currently sitting in Kwik fit with nothing for breakfast.

I also have my skin check today and I've had no sleep. So nervous about standing infront of someone in my underwear. I don't even let DH see me like that. I've not met my 2 stone (own) goal for this so feeling crap about that.

Plan is going to be all higgldy piggldy today. Not what I need the day before WI. In my head it should look like this:

B: mushroom omelette, fruit and yoghurt
D: prawn and potato salad
T: gammon, baked potato with HEB cheese and veg

Snack HEB alpen light.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 20/06/2016 09:37

Hi butt - nice to see you

Thanks for the tips. Also, really interesting to read about the yoghurt/sweetener issue. I'm not a fan of muller lights/artificial sweetener so good to see that I can just use eg fat free total etc.

I think this way of eating will fit is quite well hopefully as we don't eat much processed food and I like to cook from scratch.

An going to do an online shop to arrive on Wednesday

calzone · 20/06/2016 10:09

B.....35g oats so had fruity Courgetti porridge with strawberry Mullerlight
L....chicken curry and rice leftovers
D....Cajun chicken fillets with couscous and salad

Well done Wing!

Finished yesterday on 11 syns in the end.

Today's plan...

B - fat free fromage frais and fruit
L - cheese (HexA) and tomato purée on toast (HexB) with salad
D - Asda chicken with mozzarella and pesto meal (2) with spinach and SW chips

And no doubt some chocolate this evening...

WingDefence · 20/06/2016 11:24

Good luck Lemon! Thanks Emily :)
Best get on the tube!

QueenFuri · 20/06/2016 11:51

Can I join I started in January this year and have lost almost 5 of the 10st I had to lose. I can feel myself not really caring about staying on plan. I've had baked oats and a mugshot today already!! Thinking pork chops couscous with veg for dinner tonight but I need to get back into the right frame of mind!

nomoreheroes · 20/06/2016 12:55

Welcome Queen, that is an amazing loss - you can't give up now!! Did you keep food diaries before, or are you keeping them now? I find it helps to look back at them for motivation and inspiration (though I am doing this 2 months now and I have lost a piddly 9.5lbs of the 2.5-3 stones I would need to!). Keep at it and stick with the thread, I find it helps to "talk" to people who are having similar struggles.

Today was meant to be an SP day to make up for weekend naughtiness. Alas I made sweet potato, pepper and chicken soup which was delicious and free, but not SP. Hey ho. Will get out for a long walk tonight and hope for the best.

B: Porridge (HexB), milk (HexA), apple and cinnamon
Snack: berries, peach and quark with sweetener
L: Soup
D: Not sure - maybe syn free sausages with mash and veg. Though I don't want to use any syns (already had 105++ over the last 4 days) so how do I make the mash taste nice without butter? Any tips? Is there a free gravy I could make?

nomoreheroes · 20/06/2016 12:56

Oh, duh! I could just make SW chips then I won't need a gravy!

EmilyK83 · 20/06/2016 13:26

Nomore - I do my mash with a beaten raw egg mixed into the hot mash - makes it lovely and creamy!

Hi Queen - amazing loss!!!

ALemonyPea · 20/06/2016 14:31

Welcome queen, don't give up!

Chicken/veg stock is nice in mash. Or I use philli if counting it for my HEA.

£150 for a new tyre 😭

nomoreheroes · 20/06/2016 14:40

Thanks for the tips folks, will try one of those.

£150 for a tyre...ouch, that seems very steep!

KittyOShea · 20/06/2016 15:02

I add stir fried leeks and some buttery fry light to my mash. Very tasty.

Mariqui · 20/06/2016 17:00

My SW chips never turn out right - they always seem to stick and don't really go golden - any thoughts on why this might be? Am I trying to turn them too soon? Never had this problem when I could coat them in oil!!

Mariqui · 20/06/2016 17:01

My SW chips never turn out very well - they just seem to stick to the pan and don't go golden - any suggestions? Never had this problem when I could use oil!
