Too many syns, didn't have enough left for a sausage with dinner :(

Porridge heB, milk heA, apple, jam 1 syn
Satsumas
L salmon, noodles and courgetti, light sweet chilli sauce 1 syn
Then the snacking began, chocolate rice cakes 5 syns, wrap 8.5 syns, dessert of quark, tbsp grapenuts, few pecans, orange choc shot about 5 syns. Tiredness hunger had hit. Luckily nothing v synful in house ( reduced to bingeing on quark lol!)
Berries
D pasta, chickpea and veg rich tomato sauce.
Feel OK now

KittyOShea · 18/06/2016 19:22

B- porridge, fruit, yoghurt
L- salad with feta (2 syns) and 2 ryvita with a skim of butter each (5 syns)
D- sausage pasta (2 syns)

Syns- 7 (lunch) 2 (dinner) 2 x hi fi (6) and 1 sugar so 16 oops

Am much better when at work because I can't pick and choose- just have to eat my packed lunch.

I get 8 weeks summer holiday in 2 weeks time and am worried it could all go to pot!

WingDefence · 18/06/2016 19:27

Hi all - sorry to hear that some of us are struggling. :( I did well and avoided anything nice syn-ful at the celebrations and for tea I had, from the hot food stand, plain new potatoes with bbeans and a big dollop of their coleslaw (I've randomly chosen to track it as 100g of tesco coleslaw 7.5 syns but no idea how much 100g of coleslaw is in real life!). So I resisted the delicious bacon and sausage barms. Going to have a glass of vino tonight and some fruit and yog as a snack.

Tomorrow is a big BBQ lunch after church but I'm going to take a huge salad and munch that. Some of my friends make legendary desserts but I shall be good!

emwithme · 18/06/2016 21:03

Mam and Mommy - last time I did SW I left group having lost 3 stones but not reached target (I moved and really didn't like the consultant in my new area). I thought I could do it at home...and did, for about 18 months (I was 7 lbs heavier, but was OK with that)...and then it started creeping upwards and upwards and upwards and I was only half a stone lighter when I rejoined a year ago. I am now 2 stone 11 lbs lighter. I know that even when I do reach target, I'll have to keep going to group - probably at least fortnightly - because I will let things slip because I like eating a box of maltesers at a time far too much of the naughty stuff.

I do have a Giant "Proud of Myself" moment though. There's an airshow where I live today, and instead of treating myself to fish and chips or a dirty burger and an icecream or seven I took a load of satsumas in my handbag, and ate one every time I got tempted. Means I've still got all my syns left for wine tonight.

Also having another SP day:

Brunch: Bacon, eggs, beans, mushrooms, tomato
Throughout day: A metric fuckton of satsumas
Dinner: Salmon, courgette, peppers, red onion, cherry tomatoes
HEA: Milk
HEB: Hifi bars

EmilyK83 · 18/06/2016 22:08

Had this tonight - definitely recommend it, it's lovely!

WingDefence · 19/06/2016 08:40

emwithme do you look like a satsuma now?! Grin

Making a tuna sweetcorn pasta salad for our bring and share bbq lunch. Going to put a dollop of pesto in some quark which I hope will work. If no one else eats it I will!

ALemonyPea · 19/06/2016 09:20

Grin at you walking around scoffing satsumas all day

I survived the barbecue yesterday, not a scrap of syn food passed my lips [smug]

Wish the weather would perk up here. Still freezing

B: SW fry up with HEB
D: prawn pasta salad, HEA cheese
T: roast chicken dinner, syns for gravy and maybe a Yorkshire pud.

EmilyK83 · 19/06/2016 10:15

Well done Lemony!

Not that warm here either!

Today's plan:

B - fat free fromage frais with cinnamon and chopped apple
L - spicy lentil salad (0.5) with spinach, veg and a poached egg
D - Asda chicken, bacon, mushroom and cheese ready meal (2) with wedges and cabbage

HexA skinny latte, HexB Alpen Lights. Finished yesterday on 8 syns, aiming for around 10 today...

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 19/06/2016 12:04

Hello!

Please can I join? After 3 babies in 3 years, I now want to lose 3 stone Shock. Littlest is now 6 months so no more breastfeeding!

Pondered weight watchers but think this might be the best way for me as the recipes seem to suit us best as a family.

Randomly, I think I'll start on Wednesday as got some food to use up. I've signed up for online membership as I think going to classes will be a step too far

Quick question - I have a 2 and a 3 year old. Good eaters and I like to give them what we are having. But worried about the low fat element so was planning to do things like give them extra cheese, avocado in salads etc. Does this seem sensible?

Separately, I'm just going to do the recipes and not tell DH Grin

Buttwing · 19/06/2016 13:01

Hi gobbolino and welcomeSmile I recognise your name from the pregnancy/postnatal boards, my youngest two dc are almost 3 and almost 2 so very similar. The easiest thing I found to do when I started with slimming world was to look at what I already cooked and changed it to be more slimming world friendly while still being healthy for my family (and me!)
In all honesty it wasn't that hard it was mainly changing to spray olive oil rather than sloshing it in,making sure all the fat was removed from meat (I did this before but wasn't as careful as I am now) I don't tend to cook with much cream/butter so that wasn't an issue. The small changes made a big difference.
I do what you suggested and give them extra bits for example they will have cheese and garlic bread with their spaghetti bolognese and I won't (unless I use Syns for it)
I really have founded cooking for the family no probably at all it's just the bloody cake and chocolate I have to stay away from!!Grin

Kenworthington · 19/06/2016 14:31

Fml I have been sooo badly behaved this weekend. McDonalds yesterday lunchtime, then an apple to kid myself I was being good before the most debauched party I have EVER been to. My god what an amazing night, but am suffering so much now. Oh and post party this mornjng guess what I had for breakfast? A fucking burger king 😩😩😩😩😩😩 in my defence id had 3 hours sleep in a travelodge ad only avail food and drink was service station next door. I am going to hell in a handcart. Now dying on the sofa

NauticalIce · 19/06/2016 15:37

Hello, I've been awful on SW! I have lost just over a stone, but haven't been very good. I must get back on it Sad

Aspergallus · 19/06/2016 17:08

Hello, can I join too?

I have 2DSes, aged 5 and 2. Never really lost the 3 stone I gained with first pregnancy, just down a bit between pregnancies and back up again!

Joined SW 3 weeks ago, 3rd WI due on Tuesday. 3.5lbs down first time, then 4lbs and slimmer of the week! This week hasn't been quite so good and just had Father's Day lunch at Pizza Hut. Had the salmon and spinach pasta- 17.5 syns.

Not totally sure SW is for me, but weight loss so far is encouraging.

I don't like Muller Light.
Quark sounds disgusting.
I have PCOS and there's no way I can get away with all those free carbs...

froubylou · 19/06/2016 17:21

Aspergillus I had a similar dilemma. Never used quark despite buying it a couple of times and not a fan of artificial sweetner. I just do everything else and eat quite clean. I also hate fry light and just use a normal spray olive oil.

Too many people get hung up on muller lights and mug shots without looking at the plan as a whole which promotes fruit and veg and homecoming and advocates avoiding processed food. That's basically the plan in a nutshell for me.

I have been off plan since Thursday as on holiday and feel shocking. I have permanent heartburn and have been constipated and gassy. And I haven't even gone mad on the rubbish I could have had.

Back on it tomorrow in the hope of minimising the damage before Wi Wednesday.

Aspergallus · 19/06/2016 17:31

Froubylou Yes, I'm definitely trying to eat clean on the plan. Which has meant that I'm kind of "not in the gang" at meetings. Hopefully I'll find this thread more helpful.

I'm using coconut oil spray from the groovy food company (one cal per spray) instead of fry light, which I agree is rank.

ALemonyPea · 19/06/2016 17:51

Welcome newbies

Aspergallus, I have PCOS as well, and had a good start, but since then, it's been 1.5-2lbs a week. It's frustrating at the best of times, especially when my friends lose 3/4/5/6 a week and have had a few cheat days and nights out on the drink.

But on I trot as I do need to lose the weight. Have you tried doing an SP day here and there, they're pretty easy to do and reduces those clingy carbs. I try do 2 a week.

Have you used all 15 of your syns every day? If not, then you're fine having the odd splurge as long as you've banked a few syns and don't go over. You have 105 a week, which hypothetically is 15 a day, but are flexible in that you can bank and use for a special occasion. All is not lost.

Take tonight for instance. I've just had ginger cake and custard at an eye watering 17.5 syns, but I had 25 banked syns, so no harm done.

ALemonyPea · 19/06/2016 17:53

I hate muller lights as well. I prefer Danone light and free, which are a Greek style yoghurt and have fruit bits in, much more yummy and only 59 cals, plus they're all free. £1 currently on offer at Asda for a pack of 4.

KittyOShea · 19/06/2016 18:25

I'm also not a fan of mullet lights. I buy the 0% Danone activia. Much thicker and nicer though I do miss the full fat rhubarb one.

B- porridge, fruit, cinnamon, yoghurt
L- was out so tried to keep it on plan a bit by having tomato and basil soup and half a tiny ciabatta Blush
D- leftover sausage pasta

Just made a batch of breakfast muffins as am going to do sp days on Monday- Thursday as will be out on Saturday for DHs birthday.

maygirl · 19/06/2016 19:10

Welcome newbies
Good day,
B eggy bread, heB, raspberries, maple 1 syn
Body pump class

milk in drinks and breakfast 4 syns
L omelette with HeA cheese, salad, beans
D lamb skewers with tzatziki, salad, from this months mag.
1 of DH father's day chocs 2 syns
Grapes

maygirl · 19/06/2016 19:12

And watermelon

Aspergallus · 19/06/2016 20:15

ALemonyPea Good point, I haven't had 15 every day this week so my now 20 Syns today isn't so bad after all. Thank you!

I'm sure my weight loss will slow down though. Not expecting much on Tuesday.

I've been having fage 0% Greek yog mostly, over berries with a sprinkle of cinnamon and a drizzle of agave nectar (once I realised it had fewer syns than honey).

Aspergallus · 19/06/2016 20:20

I'm trying to keep my carbs low. Haven't always had my HexB, just because I know I'm so bad with carbs and the PCOS. Need to read a bit more and try and do full on SP days.

It wasn't really an issue before I had DC. I'd been on the pill for years and hidden it. Then trouble conceiving when I tried revealed it and I've had ongoing gradual weight gain the whole time I've been off the pill. Could go back on to help weight loss but I'd still like another DC. Between a rock and a hard place at the moment though since the weight is probably making it all worse, including my fertility.

ALemonyPea · 19/06/2016 20:31

I think your HEB is important to have as its more fibre than carbs. I've been having oats, apricots and hifi or Alpen bars rather than bread based ones.

Aspergallus · 19/06/2016 20:32

Hadn't thought of that. Getting quite a lot of fibre from fruit and veg, but some oats would be good.

ALemonyPea · 19/06/2016 20:34

I love baked oats. I make them into three muffins, almost tricks my brain into thinking I'm having cake Grin
