My group is lovely, lots of supporting members and children are allowed to go. The leader is a bit too energetic for my liking first thing in the morning, but she sends motivational texts and knows her stuff.

Made baked oats into muffins, so eating three of them today, and three tomorrow. It's like having blueberry muffins, but just for one syn for all three. Definitely put my head back in the game. Technicall,y they have yoghurt in, so not exactly SP, but I'm going to class it as that as I'm a rebel. Wouldn't eat yoghurt by itself though.

EmilyK83 · 08/06/2016 19:37

My old consultant used to send texts the day before weigh in and cards when we reached milestones - was really nice of her! But we now have a new consultant, I'm sure she's just getting her head round things still (she's only just had her training) but no cards, no texts and just the occasional "motivational" post on the FB group. She seems really nice though, hopefully she'll find her feet soon.

Cooking dinner now. Was supposed to have chicken in the pasta sauce but turns out it's gone off. Oops...

WingDefence · 08/06/2016 19:40

The pizza was a huge hit - thanks ALemon for the encouragement otherwise I wouldn't have done it!

I used to attend groups for WW and you'd get the same problems with good v rubbish leaders and politics etc. I'd love to make a SW group though as I see so many great things on Instagram and also I just miss the contact and group discussion. So much harder doing it online and I don't feel like I get much for my money!!

Butt when my DS got chicken pox it was in a 30+ degree heatwave three years ago. The best thing I used was poxclin mousse as it is light and not sticky and just absorbs easily into the skin. Let your DCs wear as few clothes as poss (as long as they don't scratch too much) and lukewarm oaty baths helped a lot too.

ALemonyPea · 08/06/2016 20:21

Ah Butt, chicken pox, poor you Sad. Lots of fruit and free food for snacks.

Buy some virasoothe from Boots, marvellous stuff, goes on clear and not thick like creams. Will dry the spots out quicker as well.

nomoreheroes · 08/06/2016 21:13

Hello all, back from weigh in and really annoyed that I have lost nothing, nada, zilch! Angry I can't really explain why either, as I really didn't do much different than previous weeks. But then maybe the 2 bad days/5 good days formula is not a winning one any more. Think I shall have to take a different approach this week. Trying to think of all the things that I'm doing which are either not fully on plan or could be causing problems:

Porridge for breakfast - I think I will switch to weetabix so no risk of overdoing portion. Or have eggs on toast for something filling.

No more heating my fruit in the microwave (frozen berries and apple in my porridge). I'm still not convinced they really are a problem but hey, ignoring the rules didn't work this week!

I'm not sure whether to keep trying SP days or not. I usually SP from Sun to Tue or Wed to make up for weekend shenanigans and it worked up until this week. Maybe try a regular extra easy week and see what happens.

Any other tips?

Re. Chickenpox...poor kiddos and poor you! Try antihistamine to help the itching. Also baking soda in the bath. Also in second poxclin, it's pretty good. If I were to be housebound for a few days I would clean my house and have a major clear out as we have too much stuff....well it'd keep me away from the fridge!

Buttwing · 08/06/2016 21:14

Thanks for the tips everyone dds seem quite mild but ds's seem a bit worse. When dd had a Luke warm bath tonight they seemed to fadeConfused but ds's were still there. I'm just going to see what happens in the morning the pharmacist seemed pretty sure it was the pox.

Buttwing · 08/06/2016 21:31

Oh and wing I remember that heatwave well I was 8 months pregnant with a huge dc3!

EmilyK83 · 08/06/2016 21:35

Nomore - my tips would be to up your water intake, try green tea (it seems to help me...) and have some variety in your healthy extra choices - and mix up your meal choices if you're eating the same sorts of things each week. They all seem to be things that work either for me or people in my group!

tabulahrasa · 08/06/2016 21:44

"The leader also moaned a few weeks ago that there wasn't enough fruit put in for slimmer of the week and that even if you weren't staying you should tip up.

Yeah love. So it looks more tempting to people buying raffle tickets and you benefit from that."

Um...but the raffle tickets aren't for that basket and she doesn't get the raffle money anyway...

nomoreheroes · 08/06/2016 21:47

Thanks Emily, that's good advice. I definitely could up my water as (tmi alert!) I've been so constipated since starting SW Blush Also I've noticed lots of people here like to save their healthy extras for later in the day. I couldn't survive on a breakfast of fruit and yogurt so maybe breakfast muffins.

MamOfTwo · 08/06/2016 22:19

Sorry to hear about the pox upon your house, Butt - Virasoothe helped us a lot with the itching.

I have had a stressful week so have been eating my emotions... Dread to think what Saturday WI will bring. My consultant is also Low Contact! She posts general things on FB but that's it. I used to have one who would text when you missed a week etc.

I may have asked this before so forgive me if so but do any of you use a FitBit? If so, which model is best? Thinking of upgrading my basic pedometer.

froubylou · 08/06/2016 22:25

At groups I have stayed to if the slimmer of the week hasn't stayed to the meeting the consultants raffle it off after the main draw. And the money made from the raffle is for next week's prize but I have only seen prizes worth a maximum of a fiver. And more than that is spent on tickets I am sure . So unless it's donated to charity which i suspect would be well promoted I assume that the consultant benefits in some way even if it's used on stickers or other prizes of some sort.

EmilyK83 · 08/06/2016 22:26

MamOfTwo - I have the Charge HR and love it! Really motivates me to get my steps up - and the fact that you can add friends to the app gives a healthy element of competition...

The HR measures heart rate - it's been interesting to see my resting HR come down since I started SW, and it also uses it to measure how you sleep! Only negative is that I had some issues with it irritating my wrist at first, but seem to have got used to it now...

Nomore - I love saving Alpen Lights, pistachios or similar for the evening so my HexB feels like more of a treat! Breakfast muffins could work - or scrambled eggs with bacon and leeks/mushrooms/tomatoes or similar?

Southsearocks · 08/06/2016 22:30

Joining! I'll try not to lurk Smile

This is about the sixth time I've joined SW. I'm hoping I can stick to it this time and keep motivated. I've got terrible eating habits!

tabulahrasa · 08/06/2016 22:45

froobylou - whether it goes to the next highest or raffled off depends on who is there and what have you (I do weigh, so I know who has stayed) and on the group, but the money goes on raffle prizes, competition prizes and things like tea and coffee, sometimes on presents for people that have babies or other things like that - it's completely seperate from the consultant's money, in some groups it's run completely by the raffle person.

maygirl · 08/06/2016 23:40

I used virasoothe on DD Butt and she was only left with one tiny scar from the pox, unlike poor DS :(

Gained 1 pound , ugh I'm so stuck.

Today
B banana, heA milk in coffee
L potato salad with light mayo and yogurt 0.5 syn, ham, spinach, cornichons, cucumber, tomato.
D lamb, new potatoes, cauli, peas, carrots gravy 1 syn

lidl strawberry cone 9 syns
heB cashews

froubylou · 09/06/2016 07:40

Ugh dd (almost 12) has a tummy bug. Violent squits apparently and feeling sick. Aibu to be annoyed at her? Her friend a few doors down had a bug over half term and I told dd not to go around. DD went around anyway and is now feeling sorry for herself.

We are away next weekend and I am just praying ds (2) doesn't get it for then. Or dp who is prone to stomach bugs. So instead of spending the morning while ds is at nursery pampering the ponies I am now going to bleach both loos and bathrooms and stock up on loo roll and handwash. Sigh.

B. Coffee
L. Dunno yet. Fed up of salad and think I have soup lurking in the freezer somewhere. Or maybe ham, eggs and mushrooms.
T. Shepperds pie and alldaveg.

Butt the pox is awful. DD had it when she was 2 and ended up in hospital for a week as she had a febrile seizure. They couldn't work out where her temps were coming from and kept her in until they had tested for loads of different things. 2 days after we got home the spots started. Ds hasn't had it yet. Am torn between wanting it out of the way and dreading it. It's done the rounds twice at his nursery and twice through cousins/friends but he must have a good immune system or just be very lucky.

OrianaBanana · 09/06/2016 08:17

You might be lucky this time and he won't get it, or get it mildly! When DS had it it was just the spots really - he didn't get tired (alas) and didn't even want to scratch. Flowers for tummy bug bleaching

ALemonyPea · 09/06/2016 09:26

Morning everyone.

Frouby, hope the sickness bug doesn't spread. I am really ill if I ever get the sickness bug, pass out and everything. Touch wood I've not had it for a few years as avoid it at all costs.

B: baked oats, orange and melon
D: chicken fajita pasta salad
T: chinese takeaway of some sort, think chicken or beef with bean sprouts, no rice or noodles though

EmilyK83 · 09/06/2016 09:52

Sorry to hear about the sickness bug frouby, doesn't sound like fun! Sad

Today's plan for me:

B - strawberries and quark sweetened with choc shot (0.5) plus half HexB pistachios

L - stir fry

D - leftover pasta from last night (3) with veg

Skinny latte as HexA, dried apricots as other half HexB. Will make syns up to around 10 with chocolatey treats tonight...

JHoop · 09/06/2016 10:00

Hi All

Planning on starting at my local SW club next week so hope to be able to pick your brains at some point. My friend has been going for a few months now and she's lost 4 stone and said it really fits in with her lifestyle and doesn't feel like an effort at all.

Sounds good to me lol

petitpois55 · 09/06/2016 10:00

Hi all. I have lost 10lb's over the last six weeks. I have been doing my own thing,- mainly cutting back on portion sizes, doing a bit of exercise, and only drinking a few glasses of wine at the weekend.I also have one treat night which is Wednesday (weigh in day) where i have whatever i want for dinner, and maybe a glass of wine.

I've decided to try and lose weight in a more structured way, and like the look of slimming world.
I will be doing it myself at home, and have bought the books from Ebay.
Just wonder if someone would look over my menu to make sure i'm doing it correctly.

B Overnight oats (hex b) in fat free Greek yogurt with berries and a grated apple.

L JP with tuna, sweetcorn and ltl mayo. Is 1 tabls 1 syn? I'll have this with a
large mixed salad and ff dressing followed by a pear or banana.

D left over cooked chicken breast (no skin) with a few roast potatoes done in fry light, green beans and baby sweetcorn. A small amount of instant gravy. How many syns should i allow please?
I have some WW Choc brownies in the freezer . I'll have to syn them obviously. Is it approx 1 syn per 20 cal?
I am going to have 15 syns to start with and see how i go, what my losses are etc..
Oh and is it ok to split your hex a? Today i'm using it for milk, but most days i'll want to split it between milk and cheese.

I'm sure it's going to take me a week or so to fully get my head around it all. I did SW years ago, but it has changed a lot.
If anyone could just tell me if i am on the right track today, that would be great.
By the way, the thread is really supportive and informative.

froubylou · 09/06/2016 10:10

Petipois make sure 1/3 of your plate is speed. So a really big portion of the veg on your dinner. I usually do 1/2 my plate speed if I can and find it really makes a difference to how hungry I feel during the day. Not enough and I snack.

That's what I meant to ask. Does anyone on here have a countdown? If you have one do you still have to go in the paying queue or can you just go in the weighing queue? I take toddler ds and he gets pretty annoyed just queueing up. And if I get there at starting time the weighing queue hasn't even started because they are all paying!

Bathrooms all clean apart from floors. Anti bac soap and wipes all lined up. It doesn’t help I am slightly phobic of sick. Can cope with baby puke but anything grown up makes me gag too. And dd has never actually been sick since she was a toddler so she is panicking because she feels sick. Ffs.

ALemonyPea · 09/06/2016 10:26

I have a 6 week countdown, mand you still have to queue, to activate your card. It's very annoying, you'd think you'd be able to just go get weighed.

WingDefence · 09/06/2016 10:59

What's a countdown? I assume this is just a meeting thing?

Froubylou if DD isn't actually sick but it's just the other end, it could be food poisoning as opposed to a sickness bug. DS was very ill last year and I'd never known anything like it as he was never actually sick. It was campylobacter and we only realised when he (TMI alert!) had blood in his poo and I had to take a sample to the doctor (which was fun NOT). Anyway, that is the most common form of food poisoning, none of us had had it before and it can be caught up to 10 days before I think. So just keep an eye on her and keep bleaching!

Sorry - let's get back onto discussions about food! Grin

B Weetabix plus milk HexA and strawberries
