Squash is speed though! And just think, you're turning to speed food instead of non-speed food or syns, which has to be a positive thing!

Weighed in on Tuesday evening - my first weigh in since joining SW last Tuesday - and I lost 3 and a half pounds. I was absolutely thrilled. Love reading this thread because it gives me ideas for meals :) Will try and be a more active member of the thread.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 07/04/2016 14:47

Good point Emily!

I do over-eat though. I'm just reading one of the books recommended earlier in the thread (I think by maygirl?) and it's about focussing on changing your EATING rather than your WEIGHT. This sounds obvious but is a revelation to me. I eat shedloads and focus on my weight. I need to focus on my eating habits and eating normal portions, then maybe the weight will take care of itself: '... The weight goes right back on because dealing with your addictive eating was never the goal. Weight loss was.'

Food for thought. Hopefully a shift in mindset and the SW plan can work in synergy for me :)

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 07/04/2016 15:07

So far today I have had:
B - tomato omelette
L - Quorn sausages, SW chips, mushrooms, tomatoes and spinach, followed by yoghurt and pomegranate.

But as there are currently no children in my house I Have just sat down and had a cuppa and a Cadbury's Fudge, and it was sooooo nice!

Went to Iceland this morning - if you buy two SW Ready Meals you get a free pack of chopped swede, leek and carrot, so that is going in the slow cooker tomorrow with some lentils to make soup for next week.

BasinHaircut · 07/04/2016 15:39

Nice one Emily! Your old coat was huge you are doing amazingly!

My chips were so disappointing. The pub where we used to go has been taken over and apparently the new people can't cook a chip properly! So not worth going off plan for in the end, wish I'd known in advance!

katenka · 07/04/2016 15:53

Doctors went well yesterday. He was pleasantly surprised with the weight I have lost. 5.5lbs to go and my bmi will be 'normal'

It's not that important to me but is for medical stuff I suppose. Hopefully I will be at target when I have my next app in 12 weeks.

I seem to be having non cake related wins this week. Very emotional morning and had a heart to heart with my Auntie. I didn't come home and pig out like I used to. It didn't even enter my head to. A few months ago it would have been an excuse to eat my body weight in crap. Today, I just came in, cried, and then made an SP lunch.

The fact that I didn't reach for chocolate as a crutch has cheered me up no end. Grin

Flossyfloof · 07/04/2016 16:01

Am still feeling disheartened at lack of weightloss but determined to carry on. I am not prepared though to go and be weighed and sit and wait for her to come round to me so my humiliation is public and complete, consultant said she would give me a call but she hasn't. ( I didn't really expect her to but why say it?)
This morning I made chocolate brownie muffins but would really appreciate it if someone can just double check the syns for me, please.

Ingredients are 4 Weetabix (HEB if having half the muffins)
2 teaspoons cocoa (2)
1/2 teaspoon baking powder (half)
One fat free orange yoghurt with chololate sprinkles (1)
4 eggs (free)
Vanilla extract
Orange flavouring
I think that makes the recipe total 4 syns? I made 12 muffins so would count 2 for the day's portion, using the Weetabix as HEB. Is that right? Anything I have done wrong? I am feeling very unconfident now.
If I post my food please could you comment on it? Not had much today, been put and about,,so will give that a go later.
Any support or guidance very gratefully received,
Many thanks

scribblegirl · 07/04/2016 16:12

Katenka - that's amazing that you've changed your relationship with food so much, well done!!

Lunch went entirely to pot for me as I got tied up with something at work so technically this is my lunch break - no point me eating now and I actually feel okay, so I'm going to power on to the end of the day and enjoy a hearty portion of aubergine lasagne Smile

katenka · 07/04/2016 16:24

flossy can you remind what's been going on?

scribble thank you. I didn't realise til I was eating an apple this afternoon that I had broke the habit. Day made.

Flossyfloof · 07/04/2016 16:38

Hi Katenka, I have been at SW for 5 weeks. Only lost one lb each time and had a couple of hiccups along the way. Felt that I did so well last week that I might be on target for half a stone - put on half a pound.
I feel I am eating so much better - fruit and veg, have only gone over my syns on a couple of occasions - normally I hover between 4 and 7. I am finding the plan so easy to stick to - but I feel I am getting nowhere!
Earlier on this week I weighed ( at home) my lowest for many years but was back up this morning. I don't know what I am doing wrong and I don't know where to turn now. It isn't like me to get so down but I feel I am trying so hard for nothing.

EmilyK83 · 07/04/2016 17:45

Thanks Basin! And it's SO annoying when syns really aren't worth it - feels so wrong!!!

Katenka, that's amazing - you'll hit that healthy bmi in no time!!

Flossy - are you drinking enough? And apparently sometimes upping the Syns can help...

Flossyfloof · 07/04/2016 17:54

Thanks I don't drink a great deal, to be honest. I know some people say you should have all of your syns - I just can't understand how that can help.

Flossyfloof · 07/04/2016 17:56

It is really nice to read about successes, especially when people have clearly had struggles. I just don't know how to do this.

OrianaBanana · 07/04/2016 18:18

Flossy did you say your consultant wasn't great? Can you change group? x

Flossyfloof · 07/04/2016 18:29

I am considering that, Oriana. I am going to look into it. I felt so enthusiastic about the plan and have stuck to it so well ( not 100% every day but most days - only a couple of days when I was eating out).
My friends have been brilliant, they have all sorted out SW friendly snackettes when I have been at theirs and embraced my SW friendly offerings! I feel sure it must work as I am not having fat and so much more fruit and veg. It is true that I don't find my consultant very approachable.

BasinHaircut · 07/04/2016 18:50

Can anyone help me with the syn value of uncle bens microwave risotto pouches? Or the Aldi mushroom risotto that you simmer in a pan? I have a hankering for them but something tells me they will be high syn?

Flossyfloof · 07/04/2016 18:54

What flavour? They are different values. What is the actual name of the Aldi one, do you know?

sparkle789 · 07/04/2016 19:02

Tea was so nice. I had salmon veg and potatoes. I boiled the pots for 15mins then fried (with fry light) crushed garlic and mixed herbs.

Dh forgot I'd started Sw and came home with egg custard and fruit tarts 2 of my favourite puddings. Need a lot of willpower to resist those tonight!

BasinHaircut · 07/04/2016 19:14

Bacon and mushroom and chicken and mushroom. Think that Aldi one is cuccina or something like that?

Sixpencenonethericher · 07/04/2016 19:28

The chicken and mushrooms 4
The bacon and mushrooms 6

Katenka · 07/04/2016 20:00

flossy make sure you drink the 2 litres a day. It's really important.

How much do you have to lose?

It's a shame your consultant isn't helpful. Ours makes her mission to get to the bottom of why it's not working. Do you do a food diary? And write everything (absolutely everything) down?

Do you weigh all you healthy extras?

Sorry for all the questions. Thanks

KittyOShea · 07/04/2016 20:01

Back on plan today

B- porridge, yoghurt, cinnamon, raspberries, 1/2 grapefruit
L- pea and ham soup, fruit, yoghurt
D- chilli con carne with tons of veg and rice

Syns- sugar 2, hi fis 6

Woodenmouse · 07/04/2016 20:01

Dh made me a gorgeous noodle and veg dish tonight. One of the few perks of being married to a chef!

Hi flossy your calculations for Syns seem about right for weetabix muffins so for 6 muffins I would count 2 Syns and HEB for the day. If you tell me which brand you have for each i will check and be able to be more acutely but you seem to have the Syns correct.
Have you considered and SAS log your consultant can give you one or you can do it online (they might be reluctant to give you one as you are loosing just not as quickly as you would like). If highlights any area that are preventing weight loss usually not measuring HE or guessing Syns.
If you don't fancy that I would suggest you go back to basics get a food diary from your consultant and check that what you plan to eat has the syn values you think it does. Also check what you think are HE are showing as HE on the app. I found out that aldi value weetabix aren't a HE Shock. It's little things like this that can block weight loss.
Try to drink plenty and don't give up even if your only lose a little a week it's better than putting it on!!
